Samkong was our first stop in South East Asia and it didnt disappoint! They arranged a private car pick up from the airport for a decent price considering the distance we had to travel. The hotel is very clean and secure. I am not sure on the review which mentions 10 mins from Patong Beach - that is the other side of the island and it took us more like 30. The is a public bus which takes you into phuket town and the peir for ferries on a regular basis for 10 baht which passes right outside. The rooms were big and the bathrooms adequate along with a balcony which was a nice addition. I would say this hotel is great for a stop over of a few days and for transerring to the ferries - however if you want beaches and parties you need the otherside of the island.
I really like how large and clean the rooms are, and there is a balcony outside, even though there isn't much to look at from there. The staff was very nice and inviting. If you need anything the staff is happy to help. The shower head was a little on the rusty side and think there was some calcium build which caused a few streams to spray in a wild fashion, but it wasn't a big deal. I stayed for 8 days and was comfortable the entire time. I definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling on a budget, but keep in mind that it is far from beaches.
This little guesthouse is about 10 minutes from patong beach. It is a lovely place with spacious rooms with air con, balconys and power showers. The breakfast is not the best but more than adequate. Staff are extremely helpfull and friendly and the price is exceptional!
Stayed here for about 2 weeks while looking for a house to rent in Phuket. Rooms are big, clean, and the location is quite okay with restaurants/food stalls within walking distance. If you are going to rent a scooter during your stay in Phuket, this place works just fine. The nearest beach would be 30-40 minutes away. Staff speak little english but helpful enough.
Its a bit hard to get there at first. But once you learn where exactly it is on the map, you'll find it very convenient location! Me Nd my partner stayed for 3 nights before moving to Patong area. The room is SUPER BIG! And the bed, which I found out later they put two 3.5" singles together to make a humongous 4ppl sleepable bed! We love it also how the cleaning maids really did their job so well. The room is clean with new towels, sheets, water replenished, etc. Very high standard on cleanliness, which we appreciate from a small hotel. Breakfast was minimal but sufficient to get us going in the morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We rented a motorbike from them for a reasonable 200 baht a day for two days. during our stay there were black-out period but they gav…
We stayed here for one night. It is good location if you have a car. Room is big and clean. Wifi is free. Breakfast is bread, jam and coffee/tea. Many restuarants is near. You can walk to eat Chicken rice(8-12am), Dim Sum (6-10am),Soybean Milk(5-11pm) and etc.
Just spent one night as we took a ferry next morning. The place is a little bit hidden but the taxi from Phuket airport got there without hesitation. English barely spoken although they are very helpful. Clean and spacious rooms. Perfect for a stopover.
Samkong place is a great little cheap hotel just outside Phuket town. We stayed here one night, catching the ferry to phi phi in the morning and this place was perfect for that. Such good value! We did have one incident where the power went out in one of our rooms but they organized two beds for us in our friends room and gave us our money back! Clean, big and light rooms!
We stayed here for one night en route from the Airport to the ferry to another island and were very pleased with our choice. The rooms at Samkong place were very big and clean, with king sized bed and tastefully decorated. TV with English speaking movie channels and wifi in the rooms. The staff were friendly and the free breakfast consisted of tea and toast. We arrived late at night so didn’t explore the area but I think it was in a residential area near to the hospital. I’m not sure whether there were any restaurants nearby as we didn’t go looking but there were 2 minimarts very close by. I can’t fault the place for value as this was probably one of the nicest rooms for a budget price that we have stayed in whilst traveling around Asia, in a way it was a shame we had to leave…
Extremely clean, friendly staff. They have a electronic safe, 2 complimentary water bottles per day, and free wifi (as well as two computers in the lobby). It's about 20 min walk to town, but there's a bus that you can take for 10 baht down into the city center. If you want to spend any time in Phuket Town, this place is great!
