14 family members from UK & NZ aged 5 to 75 came to The Slate. From the moment we were picked up at the airport until we were dropped back again 12 days later, we enjoyed every moment... The staff are friendly, helpful & attentive but never intrusive... Ian & his team who took care of everyone at the pools did a brilliant job, quick to bring iced water, fruit kebabs & ensuring everyone was happy... Our rooms were beautiful, large & kept immaculate... Someone came in every evening to light insect repellent outside & oil burners inside... Thank you to all the staff who made this such a memorable holiday...

...We were truly bowled over by the absolute perfection we experienced throughout or stay. From the moment we were met at the airport, to the moment we were dropped back at the end of our stay, we had the most marvellous time... Our butler, Reen seemed to be omni-present!... I am sure he did go home occasionally, but he was always on hand whenever we need something and was a total star... A small thing that really impressed us (but often missed at other resorts, in our experience) was that the hotel manager, Mr William Daguin, was often seen around the place and was always happy to pass the the time of day with us... At one point, William even asked us when we would like our car back to the airport at the end of our stay and offered to arrange it himself, which he did... We really cannot recommend the Slate highly enough; if you are travelling to Phuket, then the Slate is the only place to stay!...

...Our 4 day stay at The Slate got off to a rocky start, with a third party booking agent not confirming or forwarding our payment to the hotel. Thankfully GM William Daguin became aware of our plight, and stepped in to sort it out, and ensured we were taken care of... For example we decided to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding, and 2 staff carried the board across to the beach, then gave us a lesson and made sure we were safe 👏 We liked how there were 2 adults only pools, nice and quiet 👍 The breakfast each morning could keep you going all day, a wonderful variety of Western and Asian delights... We were also fortunate to have a late check out which was very much appreciated...

...We travelled with my 2 children aged nearly 4 and 10months and we were all looked after so well. The main family pool is great for kids and we were always so well looked after by Ian who was always bringing round water, fruit etc and making sure the kids were happy... Our daughter who is almost 4 adored the kids club and all the (free) activities that she could do there, ice cream tasting, pizza making, rainbow sand art etc, it really was fantastic and all the staff looked after her so well, thank you Pui and Ma in particular... Rooms were lovely and always beautifully turned down in the evening... Shout out also to Karin at breakfast and Choko at the pool restaurant, generally around the resort who our kids loved!... Can’t recommend this place enough for the price you pay and the value you get!...

...Excellent hotel that is 10 minutes drive from Phuket airport, although you hardly hear the planes. Well looked after grounds and our room was huge, clean... Beach opposite the hotel has lovely sand and the water is very relaxing... You can walk in the sea for miles and if you want some shade, the National Park is between the sea and the hotel... Buffet breakfast will cater for everyone's needs, even the pickiest of eaters... Two adults pools and a further family pool provide plenty of space... Other activities are well catered for - tennis, pool, water sports etc...

The grounds of the hotel , which are quite extensive, are lovely, as are the main “ public areas”, but the room we had ( with private pool) was a little tired... However the staff were very friendly and helpful and the main public areas such as the Tin Mine restaurant, bars and pools were very good... We found the hotel rather too large for our tastes but overall it was good and is very handy for the airport... The beach outside the property is quite lively with lots of informal restaurants/ bars on the beach...

...Private Pool Suite was a delight as were all of the staff, pools, bars & restaurants. BBQ overlooking the beach, Rivet Bar with live singers and for a special treat you MUST eat at Black Ginger, a true experience... Beach is a short walk and miles long for those who like to take long walks with their feet in the water with lots of restaurants on the beach also...

...The room we stayed in was spacious and again the attention to detail respecting the history of mining in the area was a real treat. We also had the best nights sleep here from our 3 weeks travelling around Thailand... The location is also great, being directly on the beach with a range of eateries and bars... Overall, we loved our stay here and it is certainly one of the few hotels we will remember as it is so unique...

...Our room spacious, clean and quiet and all the staff we interacted with were so friendly and helpful. For example we decided to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding, and 2 staff carried the board across to the beach, then gave us a lesson and made sure we were safe 👏 We liked how there were 2 adults only pools, nice and quiet 👍 The breakfast each morning could keep you going all day, a wonderful variety of Western and Asian delights... Black Ginger is a wonderful experience, the food, service and ambience are world class... We were also fortunate to have a late check out which was very much appreciated...

...Our room the Pearl Suite was very spacious, clean (not a spider in sight) and had two balconies. Very open plan, although still not quite use to not having a door to the toilet but there is a curtain but that's my own personal choice... Our room in Block A was so handy for reception and the Tin Mine restaurant where breakfast is served... The pools could do with a few more sun loungers especially at the adult only ones when the hotel is at their full capacity... We dined at The Black Ginger for our Xmas evening meal, definitely an experience not to be missed... The Slate does not have their own beach but didn't feel as if I'd missed out... There is a beach towards the back of the hotel across a road... It is a quiet resort not for night life but can get to the heart of things in Patong around an hour's drive away depending on traffic... Added bonus this hotel is only 15 minutes away from the airport but is not on the fly pass... I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, would stay again in a heartbeat...

The Slate is a unique haven of tropical elegance... The Tin Mine hosted the international banquet and BBQ evening, presided over by our bronzed Herculean master chef... Silver service provided by the ever-attentive staff and an abundance of golden oldies provided by the musical duo gave a backdrop of relaxed ambience (nb no Metallica or heavy metal)... The Rivet restaurant has the advantage of having the Rebar above, an ideal spot to savour a cocktail whilst admiring the exotic gardens... The cleanliness of our room and The Slate overall was spotless... The management and staff clearly go out of their way to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay and The Slate is one hotel we will definitely make a point of returning to...

...The Hotel Infrastructure is huge, the restaurants fantastic. Breakfast offers a vide variety of food, The Underground and Tin Mine have great offers throughout the day... But Black Ginger (make reservations early) is spectacular!... The SPA is great, there is a treatment for everything... There are two access-points to the beautiful beach, which is sadly not on the property... There are a lot of different pools on the premises for every taste, with or without kids... A great Hotel, we will return for sure soon...

...The main family pool is great for kids and we were always so well looked after by Ian who was always bringing round water, fruit etc and making sure the kids were happy. I also spent some time at one of the adults only pools which was amazing and so relaxing... Our daughter who is almost 4 adored the kids club and all the (free) activities that she could do there, ice cream tasting, pizza making, rainbow sand art etc, it really was fantastic and all the staff looked after her so well, thank you Pui and Ma in particular... Rooms were lovely and always beautifully turned down in the evening... Great restaurants and good value with the kids eat free promos... Shout out also to Karin at breakfast and Choko at the pool restaurant, generally around the resort who our kids loved!... Can’t recommend this place enough for the price you pay and the value you get!...

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in... The room was exceptional: clean, comfortable and with every item you would ask for in it... The bed was so inviting and we had the best night sleep here... The grounds are wonderful - a lovely place for all types of guests: families, couples and friends... There are two adult only pools (14 and above) as well as one family friendly pool... They're easy to access, clean and with free water, sunbeds and towels provided... Everything felt like the best quality... Great frozen margaritas in pool 2... I loved the array of food on offer at the breakfast buffet... Being vegetarian they were happy to fulfil my needs and for vegans, they had soya milk readily available for coffee and cereal in the morning... The staff are excellent - prepared to help with any query and they are all so polite and friendly!...

We visited The Slate for Sunday Brunch with two other couples the weekend before last and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is beautifully set out, the staff are extremely friendly and take great care to look after you throughout the brunch... The selection and quality of food is wonderful with a wide selection of fresh raw and cooked fish, lamb, beef & pork meats, an array of salads, dips, sauces and breads... There are sweet desserts and a good selection of cheeses... There are options for your beverage selection and once made your drinks are on free flow... We were delighted with our brunch and considered it to be good value for money...

Second visit to this wonderful resort. Close to the airport, it is by a beautiful beach with plenty of vendors around it... The restaurants are fantastic though not cheap and the spa is heavenly, Facial prices are high but well worth the cost... The D Buk room is large and well laid out however the toilet sliding industrial door is really noisy and would be difficult for children to close ... We love this resort and hope to return...

...This is our third visit to this wonderful restful resort, from the moment of pick up at the airport till being dropped off 7 days later. Room was excellent and cleaned everyday, up for breakfast at the Tin Mine , what a selection of foods , I think you have to be careful not to overindulge, great wait staff assisting with teas and various coffee, fresh eggs dishes everyway ,pancake , waffles noodles, dim sum range ,fresh fruit and breakfast cereals , it was all here for your selection... Out the back gate and onto the beach with plenty of various types of food stall and restaurants, swim eat and rest , great days There are three pools within the complex, two only for adults which is very relaxing as well as five eating areas for meals... 25 acres of greenery , gym , archery course and great staff to assist you if needed, love the place and hope to return somewhere in the future...

...Sadly it was a fleeting visit, but we managed to explore the resort... The suites are stunning, and every little comfort is carefully considered to make your stay super comfy, so much so that you must force yourself to leave your room!... The locations are stunning, especially crossing the water on a little boat to the Michelin-starred Thai restaurant... The Slate team is friendly and kind; they will do everything that they can to accommodate your every wish...

...The high standards of friendly service and great Bill Bensley design continues to be maintained. What a great resort starting with a friendly arrival service at the airport... Each day we begin with their superb buffet breakfast and end with a beautiful stroll along the beach right outside the resort... This resort continues to be well maintained and well managed and we really to keep coming... My kids have practically grown up here - the kids club staff even remembered their names even when they are now 18 and 14...

...Before we even got to the hotel I was in contact with reception as they sorted us out plug adaptors to borrow, an airport transfer and also let me know they were doing a special set up in our room to congratulate us on our honeymoon. From when we got picked up by the staff, we knew we had chosen the best place... Each and every one of the staff were absolutely lovely, and constantly went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect... The grounds are stunning, its extremely clean and well kept, rooms are amazing and no detail has been missed...

We stayed at the slate for a week in a pool suite. We loved the quirkiness of the place, the incredible staff, fantastic food and amazing pool areas... The only negative was that the private pool at the pool suites was always in the shade and therefore we didn't really get to use it...
