NUMBER OF ROOMS
The One&Only experience at Gorillas Nest has far exceeded our expectations in every conceivable way. Craig and his team are exemplary and go the extra mile in ensuring that your every standard is met and your every comfort is seen to. From the moment you are met at the door until you leave the property you feel at ease and relaxed. There are no signs of harried and harassed staff that are struggling to understand what to do as is the case in so many a new property. The staff here are well trained, calm, relaxed and professional. They provide all the help and assistance you would expect in a 5 star property such as this without the cloying sycophancy that sometimes accompanies this. The rooms are beyond conceivable. The attention to detail and comfort afforded to every aspect of the room is impressive. The quality of the fixture and fittings are sumptuous and it was difficult to get out of the cloud-like dreamy bed. The grounds surrounding the property are stunning and beautifully maintained and the food is procured from the in-house chefs garden which is reflected in the fresh daily menu and tasty vegetables served. We had two massages which were fairly priced and as good as the best spa in London or New York. The gym and pool area are well appointed and relaxing. The Nest restaurant on site served lovely food which was varied to avoid repetition. There was many different areas to eat which was appreciated as we never had the same vista for all 3 nights. The bar area of the Nest was really special. Fireplaces, board games, house flavoured gins and martinis. Really special. The service in both bar and restaurant were as good as or better than any 5 star London hotel. The support surrounding your unique gorilla excursions was really the icing on the cake for us. The pre-breakfast snack bar at your disposal, the fitting of your gaitors over your shoes, before you depart. And on arriving back, the spa staff waiting to give you a 15 minute post trek massage as your shoes were removed and slippers given to you. Later that night your muddy hiking boots were returned better than the condition in which you bought them. Such a treat not to have to lug back a muddy boot! The resort sustainability programme is impressive. The support for the local community is a vision that has been adhered to strenuously - even down to the coffee beans procured from a womens cooperative 2 miles down the road. As seasoned luxury world travellers we are well used to the services and luxuries offered at the One&Only Resorts however this really is an extra special and extra luxurious place to come. If you are thinking about coming here you really should pull as many strings as you can to make it happen. Craig and the team are about as good as it gets. …
I would highly recommend this facility and having now experienced this "One and Only" property I will look to others in the future. The location was within easy access to the Mountain Gorilla starting point. Following the Trek I was greeted at the hotel front door by the staff who assisted in removing my muddy boots and gaiters and within hours had all of them cleaned and delivered to my room. Much to my surprise immediately following the Trek I was present with a bottle of champagne which was used to celebrate the accomplishment.
OMG - this place is magical. The room are great and the food is off the chart. We eat at a lot of top tables around the world and for an all inclusive to have the food be so magical and the free booze to very good too.
If you have an upcoming stay here, you are the luckiest people in the world. We were here early December and everything was just perfection. From the pick up in Kigali to the arrival at the lodge, the staff were welcoming, friendly and so happy to take care of us. The rooms are stunning and sophisticated, the setting is heavenly, the food........ oh my word! is insanely delicious and the attention to detail in every single aspect is incredible. Not to mention the decor throughout, which is just a dream. The lodge is a short distance to the entrance of the National Park, which is nice for access to morning trekking, and there's a great curio center across the road if you're looking for souvenirs to take home (be sure to bata as we ended up paying much less for some things we didn't really want, but they were a deal!!) The staff and hospitality make this slice of heaven a must stay if you're looking for somewhere high end and luxurious. Highly recommend staying here. We felt lucky we did.…
Hospitality at the highest level. Luxury at its best. Everything is anticipated for you, everyone in the team is ready to assist and they know their business. Food is amazing, the rooms are top in the industry with great details all around. Better come and discover by yourself. The gorilla's trekking is a must and an unforgettable experience. We also asked the team to take us to a near village and we even were welcome in his house with his family. Great humble and hard working team. Not a single thing to be faulted. The little details are fantastic.I even got a Gorilla's cake for my birthday. Bravo.
