I did not stay in the lodge, but came here for lunch after our gorilla trek. As a US traveler who has had food poisoning on a prior trip to Rwanda, I was wary of the idea of a buffet. I am so glad I took a chance on the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. The dining room was beautiful and...

Just outside of town, down a bumpy road is this beautifully located hotel. The staff are very attentive making sure you have everything you need. They will clean your boots after muddy hikes, bring you extra firewood for your fireplace and the service at meals is excellent. The cabins are very spacious and quaintly decorated, but because the evenings/nights are...

This lodge was a great place to stay at while Gorilla trekking. Less pricey than the lodge a few minutes down the road and just as good of a view. Each room is its own individual cabin. They stoked a wood burning fire for you at night before bed but also provided a heater and hot water bottles. The food...

This may not be the 5star luxury but it was amazing. The food simple home cooked and very tasty , very good staff and a great place to base for the gorillas. Loved the open fire in your room and hot water bottles placed in your bed at night when it's chilly.

I would rate my review as a 3 and 1/2. The location is spectacular. It is literally 15 minutes for the meeting point for trekking. The staff are attentive and the food is buffet, but quite. The older cabins themselves need to be refurbished badly. Pluses: 1. Staff, nice appreciative 2. Food; reasonable all buffet. The best part of the...

The Mountain Gorilla Lodge I found to be a very good choice of a place to stay when doing a Mountain Gorilla Trek. The room I had ( cabin 3 ) was large and well maintained. The fire and in the late afternoon and after dinner was nice and took the chill off the room. The bath is very large...

This lodge is perfectly situated to see the mountains and breathe the clear mountain air. The staff is wonderfully helpful. Although the food service is all buffet style, the range and quality was excellent. Our room was very nice and a fire was lit every night to ward off the evening chill. The bathroom could use an update but it...

A perfect base for mountain gorilla and golden monkey trekking. Rooms have a fireplace which is good during cool nights. Service and food were first class, including dishes for vegetarians. Electricity and hot water 24 hours a day. Wi-Fi in the main lodge.

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is the perfect place to call home when visiting Volcanoes National Park. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the park headquarters where all visitors convene at 7:00 a.m. for their hikes in the park. The cabins are spacious with good beds; large, modern bathrooms; and fireplaces. Short, power outages are common, so bring a flashlight....

This lodge is what I would call rustic. A lodge with small cottages in the surrounding area. It is very well placed though for the Volcanoes National Park and the Gorilla trek. As others have said...it is all about the Gorillas (which are amazing). The cottages have a very basic washroom and a large bed/sitting room. They are equipped with...
