Just returned from a lovely week at Chapleau Lodge. We stayed in the Bay View cottage. Wow! The view from the cottage, privacy and amenities provided were wonderful! The boat was parked at our own dock. What a bonus. We enjoyed being out on the water each day. John and Carmel were amazing hosts. Thank you for a great vacation!
Just all around good time, fishing was great cabins are nice, large, clean, WIFI and satellite. couldn't ask for anything better! tones of wildlife a few lakes around. ill be back next year as usual! johns the best host you could ask for.
John and his staff were friendly and genuine. There was no hesitation to get us settled after an 8 hr drive and ready to enjoy what Borden Lake has to offer. The cabins are fantastic... Very well appointed and clean. A doc right at your cabin was a perfect bonus... The views are spectacular. The lake is quiet and almost raw. As with many places, a map of the lake is helpful when you've never been there. Lots of highlights and marks on the map help to put you in some good general areas to start your trip off right. Walleye were on the bite more in the evening. Pike and Bass were on fire during the mornings into the mid-day. My next trip to Chapleau Lodge is already booked. Al Schriver, Loretto ON
As has been the norm at the Lodge, our 8th annual trip included, great fishing, good friends new and old, amazing stories recounted and perhaps stretched. A truly fantastic Dining Room experience (thanks CJ). Wildlife encounters galore (too many to list). Can't wait to visit again! Thanks for all the little things you do John and Staff, Tom Flockhart, Peterborough Ontario
Excellent fishing, beautiful, clean lake. Fall colors were spectacular. American plan for meals was great for us. Cabins were comfortable and accurate to the descriptions and pictures. Boat worked smoothly and anything we needed was promptly supplies. John and his crew were great.
Nice lakefront cabins, Everything we were outfitted with, worked above our expectations. John and his crew were fun and gracious hosts. We will be back. Bearclaw cabin Jun 22-26 2020, super time! Dan & Carol
Just returned from Chapleau Lodge. Very scenic location. Excellent clean cottages. Very quiet lake.. Had a great time. John treated us like family. Close to the town of Chapleau if you run out of food and drinks. Going back next year.
Short drive in from the main highway. Beautiful & clean cottage. Wi-fi was for the most part OK. John the host, was a pleasure to deal with. Whatever we needed, was provided right away. Not really a lot of people on the lake, although there were quite a few cottages at the far other end of the lake. There are motel like rooms, but these usually go to scuba diving students, that are training there. (Don't even notice them, as they train around the corner) Boats were reliable. (2-3 per boat depending on group size) There is an outdoor inground pool, which we used a couple of times as well as a sauna. Also, we had a very good time fishing. We caught something most times. Released most of them, as we lean a little more to conservation. All in all, my Dad, son & daughter and I had a fantastic time and would definitely consider going back. Probably the most important aspect was that the cottage was one of the best that we ever stayed in. It's important to read the reviews, because there are some bad ones out there.…
If you enjoy the peaceful beauty of Northern Ontario, or the call of loons on the lake, perhaps a paddle amid the extensive waterway of Trout Lake or catching your limit of fish for dinner ..... then this is the destination for you. The cabins are lovely , with postcard views while sitting leisurely on your covered porch or around your fire pit. Your hosts go out of their way to ensure an enjoyable stay. The cabins are spotless and it is so quiet . My only complaint is that I didn't book a longer stay :(
A good friend (Don D) recommended this Lodge, and the cabin we enjoyed for a week was clean, and on the waterfront. We had our own dock for my 19' Lund, and an electrical outlet under the raised cabin for electric to the dock. The owners Gord and Caroline (and John) were very kind and helpful with little items, and having the WiFi at the cabin was a great benefit. The camp had a very nice area with chairs for an evening camp fire, and they offer a beautiful swimming pool (with a nice deck) at the Lodge. Bordon lake is beautiful and the other long time guests we met were nice folks (this was our 1st time at Chapleau Lodge). Fishing was slow, due to the up/down weather the area experienced prior to our arrival, and the lake level was up about 2' from normal.
