Charikot Panorama Resort was designed, in collaboration with a Swiss architect, and built in the late Nineties by Top Thapa and his Swiss wife Judith Thapa-Maag. It was officially opened on the 1st of January, 2000. Great care was taken to use local materials and to blending the buildings with the local style, be it in stone masonry or with the white washed bungalows. We grow most of our vegetables including salads ourselves. To work and to cook in hygienic conditions is one of our main concerns. Our aim is to provide a comfortable stay surrounded by a rural setting with spectacular views in a friendly and homely atmosphere far from stress, noise and pollution.

Came here with a bunch of friends. What a wonderful and chill place to stay. I barely left the premises over 3 days - great food, eating inside or outside at the big family tables, nights by the fire pit & sunrise Yoga on the roof with sublime Himalayan views

We stayed there 3 nights with friends. Clean, peaceful and warm, the personnel makes you to feel at home, you can access the kitchen, light a fire, enjoy the sauna… If you are looking for a non typical turistic and comercial experience, this is your place. We will go there again 100%

What a fabulous and welcoming place. It’s simple and classy, with great food and accommodation. Charikot panorama resort is highly recommended for families, groups or by yourself. The motorbike ride to and from Charikot is on some excellent roads and the dirt parts are great fun!

I went there on April 24th, 2021 with 4 other friends. We were quiet exhausted after the long bumpy road ride. Finally, when we reached there, one of the lady staff was surprised to see us though we had booked in advance. Communication problem. In fact, We were quite tired and pissed off to explain our room and other requirements all over again. While that lady who is suppose to look after our requirements was angry for no reason (may be she found us arrogant, but we were dead tired actually) She needs to be trained on the importance of courtesy in hospitality management. Or do they only show courtesy to foreigners? I know its hard to get trained staff up there comparing to cities but it costs you nothing to at least smile and try to listen to their guest. Again, next day, during the breakfast time, we were pretty shocked to see the portion of food that were served for 5 people. I have attached the picture as well. Thank god they offered us ONE EGGS EACH at least. We were not even offered a basic tea or coffee. Are we suppose to ask for every basic things that we already need to be served? Does that even make sense? We paid more than $50 for a room, which is quiet high for an average Nepali income. (But we dint bargain for the price) because the property was amazingly beautiful. I don't know if it was our bad day or yours but it was not a good experience in your property. We dint expect any luxury service, fancy breakfast or anything like that but just a basic service. Sadly, those basic things were ignored. I am not happy in few more things but let it be. Coming down to good note, i absolutely love those 2 cute little German shepherds whose name was....what a friendly dogs, big garden, spacious, very calm, cozy rooms, simple architecture, gorgeous mountain views and very beautiful property. Thank you,,,

Response from S Thapa, Owner at Charikot Panorama Resort

Dear Sumitra, Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely surprised these things happened and apologies for this. Your arrival was right after a 3-day seminar of 40 participants. As our place is understaffed this year, they must too have been exhausted and we really are sorry this happened to your group after your long trip to reach here. For breakfast, your photo is taken just before you seat, and once you're ready to eat we offer orange juice, as many eggs as you wish, there's no limit and same for all the items on the photo, there's no limit. We serve also unlimited tea and coffee of your choice during meals, it's only between meals that these are self service. Sorry if these points were not clear but we are very generous with all the portions we serve, it's always family style and as many helpings as you wish. Our dogs are Jessy (mum) and Max (son) and they would be thrilled if you came back, they love the guests. All the best and hope you return soon.

Just spent a few days at the Charikot Panorama Resort to escape the bad pollution in Kathmandu and get resourced. It was the second time at the resort and I absolutely love it for the big garden, the very friendly staff, the laid back atmosphere and the yummy food. Rooms are clean and quiet. We went for extended walks in the nature, spent time at the pool and nights at the fire pit, ... and too soon the stay was already over. Looking forward to going back soon...then hopefully again with a clear view on the mountains 😊. Thank you Susie, Binda and the team!

Charikot Panorama Resort is the perfect 'home away from home'! This beautiful resort is the ultimate place to unwind, eat delicious and fresh home cooked food, relax in the sauna and by the pool, enjoy wonderful mountain views, go for a hike, play games (they have many on site!), have a campfire, and to feel so at home the entire stay! This is the second time I have stayed here and I am already looking forward to my next visit. The kind and helpful staff are there to ensure everything during the stay is perfect and they make you feel so welcomed. The rooms are cozy and very clean, and there are many common areas to sit both inside and outside, making it a safe destination to travel to during COVID-19 as well. With such a large property and various sitting areas they are able to ensure proper social distancing between customers (eating in different dining halls etc.) and have ensured all safety protocols are in place to make it a safe stay for every guest!! I highly recommend a visit to this little piece of paradise in Nepal, you will not be disappointed (and you will definitely be returning for more visits!)!

Charikot Panorama resort is an amazing place to stay. From far the best when you are visiting Charikot but also Dolakha , Kalinchok etc The view is sumptuous, the garden beautiful and sunny and the rooms are very comfortable (quality bed and linens, good hot water supply, heaters in winter etc.) The food is delicious, wholesome and tasty: great nepali food but also a selection of Swiss delicacies that are all so good. The breakfast’s home-made jams are the best i have had for so long!! i bought some to bring home :) The service is outstanding thanks to a very caring, efficient and discreet staff. Last but not least, they probably have the best Sauna of Nepal! That place is really a peaceful heaven and i already so much look forward to be back ! Thank you for the first class hospitality!

I have stayed at Charikot Panorama Resort three times and have loved every experience I have had there. Located on a hilltop in the village of Charikot, this resort is a hidden gem in the middle of rural Nepal. The 360 views from the resort of the Himalayas and surrounding mountains are absolutely breath taking. The hospitality I have experienced at the resort from the owners and friendly staff has always been of the highest standard, with the hosts going out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The open grounds are perfect for playing with dogs, playing outdoor games, doing yoga, or just enjoying the mountain views. The rooms are comfortable and have all the amenities you need. But the best part of the resort is the incredible Swiss food! Definitely the best Swiss food you will find in Nepal! With its close proximity to major attractions such as Kalinchowk Temple, the Rolwaling Range and day hikes Dolakha town, the resort is the perfect location to explore rural Nepali life and villages. I would definitely recommend Charikot Panorama Resort for anyone looking for an affordable, relaxing and serene getaway out of the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu.

Excellent in all respects: Welcome, Accommodation, Food, Other Amenities (Sauna, Conference Rooms, Séparé. Our favourite, being Westerners with a need for fresh vegetables, were the many greens from the garden: Organic Himalayan Salads! But also Asian vegies for accompaniment (e.g. spinach-type side dishes for a royal Thali), azar, kursani, and other spices. We should come back for the fresh fruit season!
