I stayed a couple of nights at this hotel in February 24 along with a group of relatives and friends. We booked 4 'Executive rooms with panoramic view', the price was very reasonable. The rooms we were allocated were in a block at the top of the resort (building 8, see photo) and I have to agree the view was great. The rooms however were far from executive. The main issue with this resort is that it is dated and tired. It's in a great setting and I'm sure many years ago it was a lovely place to stay.
The room itself was clean enough and the bed was ok (a bit firm) but it's all just a bit tired. The TV didn't work and the seating by the window is narrow and uncomfortable. We did specify on the booking that one of the rooms needed 3 beds, however we didn't get a third bed and my friends 13 year old daughter had to sleep on the seat near the window which wasn't ideal. The bathroom was ok, big with a hot shower but again very dated.
The block where we stayed is at the top of a steep hill, quite an energetic walk too and from the main building that housed the reception, restaurant and bar. There is however a free shuttle up and down the hill which we made full use of.
We ate at the hotel on the first night, some of us in the main restaurant and some at an alternative outdoor 'hot pot' restaurant. The evening food at both was fine and the prices not too bad. Breakfast however was another matter. Breakfast was buffet style and mainly catered for Chinese and Thai guests, there was little for Westerners. The breakfast selection may have been ok if the food was hot, however both morning we were there most of the food was tepid at best. Breakfast was really busy so It's surprising that fresh food wasn't being brought out regularly and it felt that most of it was cooked, put out early and not refreshed again.
A couple of other little things. The resort doesn't have much around it apart from a handful of restaurants back near the main road, we used one of them on the 2nd night which I would highly recommend called ' CHEF SRI KITCHEN', excellent food and prices. We were looking for something to do in the evening after eating and noticed there was a Snooker room, however when we found it, it was being used for storage and full of chairs. The Snooker table was there but couldn't be used, (which a member of staff confirmed). There was also an outdoor pool but we didn't get chance to use it.
To end on a positive all the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful and along with the resort setting itself the best things about the stay. The resort could be great if it had a refresh to bring it more up to date.

Booked this with 2 friends together as we are on a road trip stayed here for 1 night only.

The location of this hotel is only 17 mins away from Wat Phrathat Pha Sorn Kaew
Therefore the price was very good for a night stay.

As this area is in the mid mountain you will wake up with fresh air and beautiful views of greenery.

Room is really spacious it would be even better if the interior deco is given a slightly modern touch while retaining its identity as the moment stepping into the room you will feel that you are back to 70’s

Toilet amenities is basic ... no bed room slippers ready unless you request

Oh and also you have to pay for utensils if you not not using in room dining service

Lucky for us their set meal for dinner is superbly affordable for 3 course.

When you drive up and enter the reception, everything looks luxurious. However, that is the "outside". We got an executive room with panoramic view, room 911.
The sleeping area looks pretty okay. The bed sleeps okay. The bathroom very simple. Everything is quite outdated and could certainly use a (giant) upgrade. The door to the balcony has a large gap 😜. Unfortunately no seating on the balcony. There could certainly be more attention to cleaning, there were still traces such as hair on the sofa from the previous guests. It's also a pity that there is no safe in the room. The breakfast is fine. The swimming pool is large but not very attractive, many cracks etc. in the floor, so be careful. The big plus is the view from the room.
It takes some time to find restaurants, there is little within walking distance.

On a journey from the far north of Thailand towards the south we were very grateful for the room as it was dark and we were struggling to find anywhere and very tired and hungry. Apart from somewhere to sleep and eat ( food quite good although overpriced) this hotel, although in a beautiful setting) had nothing to offer. The main building, reception area and lobby held promise. Our room on the other hand although large was extremely tired and totally soulless in dire need of updating. Weirdly it was like we had arrived in the 1970's and not in a good way. Added to this the room was not particularly clean, had a smelly leaky toilet and a curtain dangling off the rail. We had entered the twilight zone so it seemed. Value for money it was not. The setting is perfect for a large hotel but it needs an injection of serious money and time from someone with style and flair to bring it up to the standard which it (and us as discerning paying guests) deserve.

This hotel has a lot going for it. A good location, a big hotel and attractive looking villas in the hills around the site. But it flatters to deceive. We had a hill side villa heavily discounted from 5700 baht to 1800 baht. Even then it was no bargain. The villa is old and tired, the bathroom had some mould and the bedroom area needed decoration. THe outdoor balcony had broken furniture. The hotel area was booked out to two big groups who dominated the dining room for dinner and breakfast. So we couldn't get a table for dinner and had to eat in the lobby. Breakfast was mass catering and mostly cold. No al l'carte option for eggs. and no breakfast cakes. All pretty poor for what must have been a really great place 20 years ago.

Hotel has sprawling grounds with lots of greenery. Chalets and rooms are far ftom the reception area but hotel provides buggy service upon request. Rooms are huge but jaded and makes you feel as if you are living in the 1970s. Breakfast is pretty good and with good Western and Asian selection.
Be sure to equip yourself with own transport to travel around Khao Kho becoz Khao Kho has no tuktuk nor taxis. The transportation arranged by the hotel is expensive.

If you are looking for silence and beautiful gardens with views your at the right place in this historic hotel.

There is no luxury here in the rooms except all facilities are working (wifi, flatscreen TV, pool, Sauna)

I'd not anymore pay for breakfast (160 THB) as for westerners very few selection.

Recommend if you know above limits

Concluding: TERRIBLE, the worst experience we ever had in a hotel. Starting with an unfriendly check-in, then sampling the coffee which was probably 6 hours already on the heater since breakfast for a price comparable to top coffee-shops in Thailand, ….etc. Our room had it’s best days long time ago (shabby, old fashioned), for towels we needed to wait until evening. To top everything, when inquiring for a later group occupancy nobody was interested, naturally this was not the only reason we won’t visit them again. All in all: BEST TO BE AVOIDED. (Small subsequent remark: general I do not publish negative comments, I always discuss them with concerned staff directly. But as there was nobody available for a decent conversation I resort to this unusual unpleasant way).

Read some review from Agoda, it seems quite nice from exterior. We then booked and price compare to some 4 to 5 stars i think it is quite reasonable. However, the pictures may be quite sometime ago. Reached the hotel at night, the check in was smooth. A bit disappointed when gotinto the room, it looked old but not the vintage kind of feel. I guess 10 years ago it should be really nice. Very spacious and they maintained it clean so that make up the slight disappointment we have.
Breakfast were alright, lot of variety.
