We stayed here one night, the road to get to this hotel is very bad, once we reach the hotel only we got to know that there might be power cuts in the night. The backup generator runs only for limited time. We had to spend two hours without power. The tent could be cleaned better. The food was average. Not worth the per night room rate.
We would like to thank all the staff and the owner and management of this hotel, they have been absolutely amazing and super helpful. The accommodation was beautiful, with amazing views, and the food was the best we had in Sri Lanka. Even though we didn't have the best weather, we spent a wonderful time there and created memories.
One of the best places we ever stayed. Driving up there you feel like going to the middle of nowhere, but once arrived it’s heaven. Very luxurious but at the same time the tents give you a camping feel. Strongly recommend this place - it’s a once in a lifetime.
Stunningly beautiful resort. You get an out of the world view of the knuckles mountain ranges right in front of you, by far the best view of our entire Sri Lanka trip and the large tea plantation in your backyard. The staff are very professional and makes you feel at home the moment you step in. Not to mention the food, by far the BEST we had have of local Sri Lanka cuisine, served with Michelin standard service staff. Look no further, this place is a must when you are travelling in Sri Lanka.
That was totally different experience but worth in 100%! You sleep in very comfortable and cool tents! You can feel as Indiana Jones 😹 Shower and toilet is clean and nice build so it’s not a typical tent as we know from our childhood. Morning view at sunrise, straight from the bed is speechless! Monkey are coming from time to time but if you close tent there is no problem. We didn’t have any experience with leeches. And other awesome thing is morning sounds of Hindu temple. That make unbelievable atmosphere. We love this place!
Madulkelle is nestled between beautiful tea estate, and has glamping style rooms. The hotel itself is very beautiful, with a lovely garden and infinity pool with gorgeous views. The rooms have the basic necessities and comfortable. The restaurant is beautiful and has a calming atmosphere. There were multiple options for dinner and lunch. We found the food well presented and rich in taste. The gentlemen serving at the restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. We however found the front desk staff rather unsupportive. It was difficult to get through to their phones from the room. And we had to wait for quite a long time to get someone to check us out. That experience made a stain on an otherwise quite a perfect weekend.
This place is truly stunning set atop a lush mountain the views from the tents are amazing we were a family of four , kids 5 and 1 and found it extremely comfortable it was a little cold at night though. We were worried about the bugs and leeches but didn't experience any due to dry weather. The view at sunrise over knuckles mountain are priceless the. The food at the restaurant was good. The two points I do have are the spa the massage I booked for my wife was very bad and lastly I was forced to pay in pounds at checkout rather than local currency so I lost about 60 pounds in conversion a lot in Sri Lanka I was told this was government guidelines and this was everywhere although I didn't experience this at the other two places we stayed at later in the trip. I would return without a flash but just some feedback there.…
You can’t help but be impressed with how remote a setting this is. The private road up is better suited to tuk tuk or 4WD jeeps than a standard car. We had a Deluxe Lodge (No4) which had a panoramic view of the plantation and the knuckles mountains. We were shown how to lock and unlock our lodge. Don’t get complacent as the monkeys will try and get in your tent! The rooms are well furnished and all toiletries are sustainably sourced. We had the set evening menu which changed nightly. Favourite was the mutton curry. Our waiters were excellent and quickly remembered our drinks and food orders. We went on the 6hr hike to the knuckles mountains. We are not proficient walkers, it was hard going for us and there is a fair bit of scrambling, that said we loved it and felt like we earned our drink in the evening. We highly recommend! We also had a deep tissue massage which was OK but you will probably find better and cheaper elsewhere I stand by my 5 star review however it is worth noting a few things (which are not the lodges fault!) 1. You will be staying in a very big, very well appointed tent. On a nice day with no wind (our first night) not a problem. We then had two nights of rain and high winds. That’s a different story and we had little sleep. The wind seemed to annoy the monkeys who seemed to be using the roof of our tent as a trampoline! 2. When there are high winds there are frequent losses of power, not a big deal but worth noting. 3. We went unknowingly when there was a large religious festival taking place. The music from the nearby village was super loud and happened to coincide with the night that we had the storm contributing to a lack of sleep.…
We loved the wonderful experience we had at the Madulkelle tea and eco lodge with lot of beautiful memories. Our room was clean and comfy. Staff was extremely efficient and pleasant. Beautiful lodges in different locations with marvelous views. Special credits to Prince who served us at the restaurant. He is such a kind-hearted and genuine person who attended to our needs always when we visited to the restaurant. Don’t forget to have a cup of milk tea made by him once you visit this incredible place. We loved the warm ambiance and soft music at the restaurant. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed so far. We would love to visit this beauty again!
The place itself is beautiful and the views are spectacular. It’s a one in a lifetime kind of place. However to get to the hotel takes forever it’s miles away from anything on an awful road. We got woken up at 5am from loud music from the temple which wasn’t very relaxing. I also confirmed the reservation on my American Express credit card but they wouldn’t let me us it to pay at the and at $300 a night it’s expensive.
