We arrived in rain and a cold wind and we're dismayed at the run-down appearance of the outside of the rooms. Our host greeted us with a joke and took us to a well-heated room which was comfortable but not inviting. First impressions of tired decoration were slow to be dispersed, but in fact the bathroom had been recently retiled... More

The couple who run this place are just so lovely, I keep coming back. I think I've probably stayed at least five times in the last few years when I'm travelling between England and Italy (so, for me, the location is very good). The old saw mill is a hidden gem, a little idyll, quiet and clean with really beautiful... More

Discovered during a mid journey stopover (Calais-Limousin) this was another enjoyable foodie experience. As stated elsewhere, this extensive property could do with an overhaul, but the joy of watching a Red Squirrel bound up the path during breakfast, seems to gloss over the cracks somehow. Everything worked in our two rooms and the beds were comfortable. The owner found time... More

We have stayed here a couple of times before and have always been delighted, enjoying the rural location, the swimming pool and the excellent food. On one occasion we were able to eat 'al fresco' in the lovely gardens. However on this occasion we noticed that it lacked the 'cared for' feel in the external areas. We agree with the... More

We have visited many Logis hotels. This one has 2 cheminées, we know there are others hotels with 2 cheminées which are much better. The room is very outdated. The roofs are full with moss, I wonder if the roof is still waterproof. The mattresses are saggy. There isn't a shower, you need to wash in the bathtub.

This hotel is placed just outside the quaint village of aix-en-othe which is easily accessible on foot (fifteen minute walk) where you can find a kebab shop, couple of cafe-tabac-bars and a small scattering of shops. The supermarket intermarché is even closer and sells a vast array of things. The couple who run the hotel are super friendly and welcoming... More

Stayed for i night on 7th April. This was the only hotel out of 5 on this trip who met our pre-posted pillow request! Very well done to them. The setting is delightful but is clearly a work in progress and there is a lot of work to do! Our room was very comfortable and adequately appointed for a short... More

Like other reviewers, we arrived to find an unsure welcome. We were given the keys and surprisingly, not shown to our rooms. On the way to find our rooms we found a swimming pool which was visibly green and unusable. The gardens and the rooms looked unloved, and not at all like the photographs advertising the property. We were so... More

We have just driven a 7m boat on trailer from Andover to just East of Marseilles and needed a place to stay where the 'rig' would be safe overnight, preferebly with comfortable room and decent food half eway. We found both these at la Scierie. Having telephoned to say that we had been delayed it was immediately clear that the... More

We enjoyed our brief stay here but agree with previous reviewers it does need a lot of T L C. Plus side was a very comfortable warm bed and large room, good sized bathroom with toiletries. Evening meal was very good and buffet breakfast well stocked. Down side was the wooden steps upto bedroom as my husband does not manage... More
