Thank you so much La Bastilla and staff. We had a fantastic 3 night stay here. The birdwatching morning walk with Rodrigo was excellent, the food was terrific, everyone was friendly and helpful including helping us with a flat tyre, the estate is beautiful with lots of bird life and good scenery, the rooms are comfortable and very clean, and the hot water was much appreciated. I highly recommend a visit to this ecolodge. English is spoken by a couple of people, and as always a bit of Spanish helps.

This was our second visit to the place and we loved our two-night stay here. It was a great feeling to be surrounded by greenery and also see the mountains and also a lake far away. We were again at the same cabin, #5 overlooking the mountains far away. We appreciated the great service lodge's staff rendered. They seemed to be working very hard all day to keep guest happy. The lodge had basic facilities including great hot water thanks to solar power, which we appreciated that in cool weather. The food was good at the restaurant and the kitchen was ready to go out of their way to provide whatever they can provide. The only recommendation I have is to develop a system to make the hiking paths recognizable. It was a good hiking area, but we found ourselves climbing all around in knee deep weeds looking for the paths. Simple signs indicating where to go would be very helpful. Somewhere we read a guide could be had, but we noticed there was only limited amount of people to do all this. Besides, we are seasoned hikers and we could have easily followed simple signs. We will come back and also will ask our friends to come get to know this ecolodge.

We read the review of marlonj646 in march 2019, we really don’t understand this kind of review. (Really give 1 star without even visited?) We had a very good experience with la bastilla!! Whatsapp is an easy medium for them, but ofcourse text in spanish (use google translate). They picked us up in liguina, after we texted them in Jinotega. The room was very comfortable, amazing view, good beds, hot shower (!!). The staff was very kind and helpfull, we had a nice tour around the coffee farm, factory and school by Melvin. The food in the restaurant was very tasty. It’s nice to see the students practising their skills :) Thanks for an amazing experience! Marthe & Jeff

Difficult to get to, and worth it! My friend was anxious driving up such a steep road with such tight turns, but we made it without incident. First, the young people that work there are absolutely amazing. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed every minute. The young manager arranged for a horse back ride for me with a LOT of effort, Just to keep me happy. ( BTW-I wouldn’t recommend asking, the horse had to come from very far away ,which if I would’ve known -I would not have asked). The birdwatching was fantastic. The food was fantastic. The accommodations were very comfortable, clean, the coffee is great. Can’t say enough about the program. Really , an amazing place! I will try to go again, but Transportation is an issue. It would be great if they could reliably arrange to have people meet you in Jinotega. I tried to do this, but their Wi-Fi is spotty and I never got a response. Fortunately I found someone with the four-wheel-drive vehicle. The rest of history. Thank you everyone for my visit!
