Not wishing to rest on the laurels of our existing achievements, Bandos Maldives had in the past year undertaken a major refurbishment project with the intention of transforming ourselves into a hotel that is truly reflective of the times. Careful consideration, however, was given at all times to ensure that the old-world refinement for which the island has a reputation remained uncompromised. Under the project, major facelifts have been given to the front desk, lobby areas, shops, restaurants, and bars and have furthermore commissioned a new swimming pool and additional accommodation facilities all of which perfectly blend with the island's tropical splendor and give visitors a taste of the Maldivian aesthetic.

Nestled in a convenient and stunning location, Bandos Maldives garners high marks for its pristine facilities and picturesque grounds. Guests have called out the superior rooms for their cleanliness and spaciousness, although the standard accommodations might benefit from a refresh. The welcoming and vibrant atmosphere, tailored especially for families, along with the entertainment options, receives consistent praise.
While the service staff is commended for their warm and professional demeanor, some travelers feel the all-inclusive packages are costly, with extra charges impacting the overall value. Nonetheless, the amenities, which include a variety of dining experiences and water sports, are generally well-regarded.

Detailed Reviews
We had a Deluxe Double and the room was lovely, bed very comfortable all the usual facilities and a big bathroom with lovely shower.
Because this is a small Island all the rooms were just a minute walk to the beach, in fact I would say no difference between the location of the rooms to the beach whichever standard of room you choose.
We chose half board and all meals (whether all-inclusive or not) are buffet style in the same restaurant. The other satellite restaurants offer different cuisine's but are all extra, even if all-inclusive.
The drinks are quite expensive but not too bad considering you are a captive audience (about 22USD for a large beer and a G+T). On our first night they were offering some deals on bottles of wine which we took and that was better that about 15USD a glass! We just took the wine to dinner each night and there was no problem getting glasses and an ice bucket.
The snorkelling is the thing you go to the Maldives for and it is great here, you can snorkel straight off the beach and it was excellent. Definitely worth taking you own masks as they charge for the loan of those too.
If I had to be a bit critical, the buffet breakfast and dinner get a bit repetitive after a few nights, they try and change a few options around but it doesn't make that much difference, the quality of the food is not that great for the money you pay, although this is obviously mass catering!

Dear Steve L, Thank you for taking the time to write us such a detailed review. We will look into the areas you have highlighted, as we strive to improve the quality of our products and services. We are lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful nature, a gorgeous house reef with an abundance of marine life to be discovered only a swim away. Thank you for your comments regarding the food and beverage choices, I will surely forward your comments on our food services to our respective chef's to inspire them always to improve their excellent service. Once again thank you for your comprehensive review, we wish to see you again in Bandos Maldives. Best regards, Ismail Rasheed

Had two wonderful weeks on Bandos. Ten minutes by speedboat to the island which for us was a big plus. Last time we came to the Maldives we had a seaplane transfer and had to wait for three hours before we could fly, the last thing you need after a long flight. Check in was smooth and uneventful, a cool towel and iced tea helped the formalities go down, our room was ready, again another plus point as check in was normally 2 pm.
We had a standard room which was nice and spacious. Had a problem with the shower, was running more like a tap, mentioned it to the room attendant (Shahbaan) and by the time we got back from the beach he’d had the maintenance man in and the shower was fixed! Also at first I was getting bitten by mozzies but only in the room. Again just mentioned it to Shahbaan and next thing I knew, a can of mozzy spray was left in the room. Sprayed the whole room with it and never had another bite all holiday. If you get Shahbaan as your room attendant you’ll be well looked after. He speaks very good English too so we had some nice chats.
The standard rooms are definitely the best as regards their proximity to the beach, in fact on walking around the island it appeared to be the only beach. Lots of little coves rather than a big beach seemed to be more common. Never went in the pool but it looked lovely as did the deluxe beach villas on that side of the island.
Food was delicious and a huge choice...having read reviews before we came and read some people complaining we were pleasantly surprised. Breakfasts consisted of fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, waffles, pancakes, omelettes and the usual array of bacon, sausage, hash browns etc. Croissants, pastries...You could even have a curry if you fancied it! Lunches and dinners were the same, huge choice and the deserts were to die for. Salads, fish, meat, curries all extremely tasty. You really would need to be the fussiest eater on earth if you couldn’t find something you liked.. we had a seafood lunch on the beach one day which again was really tasty... skewered prawn, whole fish, calamari, tuna enlivened by a baby shark cruising along the shoreline!
All the staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Previous reviews were right about that. Apart from Shahbaan the room boy, there were two waiters, Labeeb and Naagih? who were very good too. Naagih decorated our table on our last evening, a nice finish to our holiday.
The sea was a bit choppy on occasions but didn’t stop us from enjoying the snorkelling. Never used the snorkel trips because all you had to do was just walk into the water and there were loads of fish right there. My husband saw some anemone fish which he’d been wanting to find for ages.
All in all a very good holiday, after the miserable weather at home it was lovely to feel warm and to be able to chill out and relax. We loved every minute of it and would definitely go again. Thank you Bandos x

This was our second trip to Maldives, this time with a 4 year old and 11 month baby. After a ten hour flight from London and tired parents and children, the quick and efficient seaboat transfer was absolutely perfect. Once we had collected our luggage, we were met straight away by a representative, walked 2 minutes to the speedboat terminal then a ten minute ride to the island.
We choose the basic standard room which we were more than happy with, we liked the simple wooden decor. There was plenty of space for a single bed for my four year old and a crib for the baby. The bathroom was extremely basic washroom and not very attractive but functional. There was a nice garden area in front of the room and we could just about see the sea through the trees. We enjoyed sitting there in the morning and evenings. The standard rooms also have the best location on the island with the nicest beach stretch of beach in front of them and a good location for snorkelling and sunbathing.
We choose full board and were more than happy with the meals in the restaurant. There was an excellent variety of food. All the family found food to their taste and we weren't bored by the end of the week. All food is freshly prepared, even the bread and desserts. Main courses have lots of fresh vegetables and good quality meats. There were always three types of fresh fruits to choose from. All though not "gourmet" standard, it was certainly of a high home cooked standard, and we think the chefs are doing an excellent job. They also always served food with a smile and were friendly. The only improvement for the restaurant would be to have fresh fruit juice serve for breakfast.
The kids club was basic with a nice outdoor area for playing. It was open 8am to 2pm. The two staff, Emily and Demisha were really great with the kids and made some lovely arts and crafts. It was a nice place to leave our son for an hour or two while the baby slept. We would have like to have seen more outdoor play equipment for the children and the kids club to be open until 5pm.
The snorkelling was very accessible (even for our four year old) and there were some nice easy routes out to the house reef. We saw a nice variety of fish and some sharks. There was also a nightly fish feeding where we saw rays and more sharks.
We found all the staff friendly and very strict on COVID-19 measures, always wearing face masks and requesting guests to use face masks in restaurants. The reception staff gave us a lovely goodbye. We left very relaxed and rested after a wonderful vacation. The only other improvement is that when the seaboat arrived back at Male airport, the boat staff just left our luggage (and there was a lot) on the side and did not help us fetch trolleys or put our luggage on trolleys, we felt a bit abandonned.
We would definitely return here in the future.

This was our fifth visit to Bandos which is our favorite Island in the Maldives that we have visited an the one we keep on going back to.
The Island is always very relaxed and quiet and even more so this year as there appeared to be fewer people around.
We stayed in a Garden Villa for the first time which we really enjoyed, a very spacious bedroom with four poster bed and a sitting area, a large bedroom and a large terrace. They might not have a sea view but the location was good for us as they are locate next to the swimming pool and right in the middle of the restaurants and bars. We deliberately chose this villa as my wife has been having some back problems and walking is quite a painful experience so the location minimised the walking which was good. Also near to the swimming pool which was good for a swim early in the morning and at night even though we spent most of the day on the beach and swimming in the sea.
The island was kept very clean, the food and drink excellent and all employees throughout the Island were very pleasant and helpful and always had a smile on their faces.
Well done Bandos

Had booked Bandos island in February for my trip in April when corona virus was under control. But when the time arrived to travel in aprial corona was spreading like a wild fire in india so we had a double minded wheather to go or not some how decided to go. Once we landed in bandos all our fear went way with precaution management has taken like face mask at all common places, sanitizers and daily santizing rooms.
Its a nice island with lot of good facility and we'll maintained greenery and offcourse clear blue water accesible with just a few foot steps away from room.
We had opted for full board option for which food was served in buffet style in gallery resturant. There were lot of food options for everyone. Indian food served cook was very nice and was asking abt stay and food.
Water sports were costly so we didn't go for any activities.
Overall a very nice island to relax and enjoy great food.

We are on 5n 6d all inclusive family trip
2 a 2 children 3/6yrs; 2 a one pregnant and 2 a above 60
The hospitality in Bandos is really low !
If you want a good experience in Maldives please save your money and go to other hotel (10 percent better ) rather than here
This is my 3 rs stay in Maldives
Taj coral reef and olhuveli both was a fantastic experience. We wer to rebook olhuveli but just for new experience booked Bandos
Despite of them knowing that we are a family with kids and pregnant women they have checked us in to the room farthest from clubhouse or pool. My children and my sister is extremely uncomfortable to walk to the dining area (only one and No view ) or the beach view.
On request of change they are extremely arrogant and the. Tone of communication is extremely unprofessional despite of my polite requests. And they make it sound like I want an upgrade; I would just like honest service for the money I have spent !!
The food spread gets repeated more or less for each meal service. All inclusive has no privileges the alcohol selection is below standard.
No beach toys on the beach
No lunch buffet at beach
No excursions included
We are here for our referral dives for open water while my parents can take care of the children.
The reef is old , no baby sharks or. Manta rays
All in all it’s the lowest experience I have had so far and don’t think is going to get better in the two days left

Being repeat visitors I don’t normally review Bandos, however having stayed during these strange times, I feel I should review so other travellers know what to expect.
From the moment walking out of the arrivals hall you are met by one of their representatives and escorted to the speedboat, you still need to wear a mask for the duration of the journey. Checking in was socially distanced and very safe. The room was spotless and further masks are available in the room for future use.
You are required to wear masks when entering the gallery restaurant and your temperature is also taken. The buffet is no longer self serve, but you are served what you would like, the quality and food choice are still excellent.
You are also required to wear masks in the dive centre and watersports, and again your temperature is also taken, you soon get used to this. Huvan and Seabreeze are open shorter hours and a smaller menu is on offer, but we still found we had plenty of choices. Our only disappointment was that the number of curry’s on offer were drastically reduced, none at Huvan and only a couple at Seabreeze which is a shame.
The only change with housekeeping is that the evening turn down service does not happen. To be honest we didn’t miss it at all and understand that it limits contact.
We were on Bandos for 10 days and during that time we quickly became used to the new way of life, and felt completely COVID-19 secure. If anyone is worried about how safe you would be on the island, I would urge you not to worry.
We are so glad that we decided to make the journey, it gave us a valuable mental break from the outside world and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful beautiful Island close to Male Airport. Great beach, best house reef, great tropical vegetation, great pool and great service. Food quality was average whether within the all inclusive package or otherwise. Great choice of Drinks in the All Inclusive Package. Very good service. We took 2 Deluxe Beach Rooms because we had children with us and needed interconnecting rooms but the best beach and best snorkelling is right outside the Standard Beach Rooms which looked really very nice as well. They just did not have interconnecting rooms otherwise they looked perfect and were cheaper as well with better access to the best snorkelling in the WORLD at your doorstep.
Check in staff Ali and Muhtodee were very efficient and courteous. We had arrived early and got one of our rooms while we had breakfast, which was very nice. Suraj at the Pool Bar was excellent. Akhtar at the Beach restaurant was also very good.
We had a fantastic break in the middle of Covid. The hotel followed excellent protocols and we never saw a single, single employee without a mask at any time! Guests were also following protocols. I do not think we could have asked for a better place to stay at the Bandos price point. (Even at twice the price we paid, Bandos would still be our first choice because of the great beach and snorkelling). Only negative was that the quality of food and variety was average. It was great for children but overall it was a little bland. It may appeal to a European palate but we are so used to having delicious food in Thailand that we missed that. The rooms were at best 4 star but look, it is too attractive a price point in Maldives to even complain about that. I would give Bandos 10 out of 10 for its value for money and apart from the food everything else was also 10 out of 10. It really has one of the best house reefs in Maldives. We could not even count the number of different kinds of fish that we saw. I was seeing a chart of the fish commonly seen in Maldives and some of the fish we saw were not even on that chart. There was daily Manta Ray feeding by the Sea Breeze restaurant. Huvan had wonderful views of the sunset and yummy cocktails. Kids loved every bit of it.
My wife and I would take turns snorkelling early in the morning. Then we would take the kids for breakfast and then for a swim around 10 pm. After lunch we would go for snorkelling as a family before retiring for drinks at the Huvan before dinner. What a wonderful way to spend 7 days in Heaven!

I have only put my overall rating as “very good”, instead of “excellent”, because of some exceptional reasons (for example; the japanese restaurant was closed, and because of the bad weather on that day, our snorkelling excursion was cancelled), due to the hard COVID times we are living. Thus, I can’t blame the resort about them. Anyone who wants to travel now (as we did), even under these special health rules, must be well minded that we’re not living a normal life. and try to assume and accept any trouble when it arrives.
The resort is just 10/15 minutes from Velana airport, by ferry. That means that, in a short time. you reach a nice paradise. Talking about all the actual health documents you need to travel, be sure that you have ALL of them, as you could get a bad surprise when arriving to Male. (negative PCR, taken in a maximum of 72 hours, send an online health document to the Maldives immigration, within 24 hours of your arrival, another health document if you’re flying through Dubai, and a lot of etcs,). Once considered everything you must do to go there, if you’re still wishing to travel… at least, for all of us, everything has been worth it.
Well, we spent 6 nights on two Superior Beach Villas, all included, and they were exclusively nice and spacious. They were cleaned up every day, and the overall resort service, everywhere, was always helpful and with smiling faces. Just say that all the actual health rules are being fulfilled with special care, and that gave us a good feeling of health security. There are some beautiful beaches around the island, with clear turquoise waters and palm trees, and a lot of tropical fishes everywhere. As we travelled on mid october, we had some storm and raining days, but when the sun shined again, any of the beaches or the pool, were the perfect place to get lost.

+1
I visited Bandos in covid times. Here are the pros and cons-
Pros:
1. Resort is huge and very well maintained.
2. Every accommodation has two chairs outside where you can sit and relax.
3. The island is covered with lots of trees, so one gets a lot of shade from the sun.
4. Great place for family and kids to enjoy, be it the pool or the resort as such.
5. The beaches and water are clean and one can enjoy loads of corals via snorkelling.
6. Shout out to Ravi in the buffet section who is really a great guy to have conversation with. He also is enthusiastic and is always eager to serve you.
Cons:
1. The staff behaviour especially housekeeping can change a little. Whats with the grumpy face all the time? A little smile on the faces would be great!!
2. The food can be better, though we enjoyed bits of the breakfast and dinner (we took half board plan)
3. The rooms are a bit dated but that doesn’t seem much of a problem to me apart from the bath tub which is a little small in size.
4. The drinks and food are very costly in the island. One cant carry booze to Maldives, but having said that the rates should be lowered a bit.
5. Lastly, as per our flight’s and country’s guidelines we had to do a covid test before we boarded the flight. The resort arranged for the covid test. Again a whopping $139 usd p.p. Wow!! Thats way too expensive than any tests conducted in Maldives. Other resorts are also charging high, but this is the highest rate I cam across.
Anyway, me and the missus enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were nice and big, beach was just outside the room. We took the deluxe rooms. Enjoyed a lot of pool and snorkelling time. The corals are nice. Would again love to be back... hope the cons are taken care of by that time. Cheers!!

Hi, I am not sure we did. Best to ask them directly before booking. We certainly felt like it was great value. Definitely upgrade the room if possible to your own beachside house.
Very nice house reef on sunset side.
