I arrived like a lost soul after wandering in the showers. I had no booking (not sure if it is my sense of adventure or disorganisation) - the lady was very welcoming and showed me the available room. The place is great, bed was comfy with true sheets (if you travelled around in

We stayed for 3 nights in the region and it was definetly the friendliest service of our whole 15 days trip through Ecuador. Me and my girlfriend got sick and the guy (we cannot remember his name) from the hostel helped us to get healty so soon as possible. Great price/quality

We did the quilotoa-loop with our tent so we didn't sleep at this hostel but we passed it the first day. Although we just told the owner that we won't stay at his place, he gave us a lot of information about the following parts of the way, what to see and which route to take. He

When we were at Hotel Taita Cristobal, we talked to the owner's son, Jose about a ride to Quito. He knew taxi drivers from nearby communities who could come get us and he began to arrange our departure. However, we asked him if he could just take us and worked out a plan that was easier. Also. A bus arrives once a day

Also: I asked Hotel Cristobal if they ever run out of room and they said that it has happened very seldom. They have lots of rooms and I think they will make more. However, you can make reservations by email and they will hold it for you.

Hi Jeff, my wife and I paid between $20-25 for a private room with private bathroom (March 2016). The price included breakfast and dinner. For our first day we walked around the Q crater. The following day we then hiked from Quilotoa to Chugchilan to Insinlivi to Sigchos, spending a night at each town. This took us 3 days. Then took a bus from Sigchos back to Latacunga. Although we walked the entire loop, if you do not wish to do this, you can always ask your hostal to organise a taxi/truck to take you to the next town or wherever else you want to go (Quilotoa for example). We did not personally catch a taxi or bus, but we heard a couple say it was approximately $15 to get to the next village. I know there is a bus from Latacunga to Sigchos, but not entirely sure if that same bus goes all the way to Insinlivi. If it doesn't, i believe it would be easy to get a taxi from Sigchos to Insinlivi. I hope this helps and that you enjoy your time. The hikes can get a bit tiring, but it is definitely worth the effort!
