Decided to make the 3 hour drive from Playa Carmen because my Mexican friend’s highly recommended me to go. Wow, this place was wonderful, there is a long dirt and bumpy road through jungle and at moments we felt we were going nowhere, but all of a sudden came to the entrance of the resort. Truly amazing place, we were happily greeted by the hotel staff. We had a bungalow right in front of the lake. Place is very quiet and serene. There was only 6 more guests when we got there. Rooms are small but nice. A/C is only available during evening hours. There is a lot of mosquitoes around this time of year, bring OFF! Lake is amazing, different hues of blue colors. It is kinda rocky , no sand , so be careful. There are kayaks that you can use freely. Restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes, all are excellent. The service was great too. Takes some time to arrive but it’s worth the wait. After dinner we went to the side of the lake to enjoy the moon and stars under this amazing place, it was truly magical. I highly recommend this place if you want some peace and quiet and enjoy the sounds of nature. I never saw and heard so many kinds of birds at this place. We loved it. Just wished we could stay more days.

This place is just AMAZING in every way. Yes, the way here is a bit uneasy since it is a dirt road that does not seem to go anywhere but then you arrive and it is breathtaking. I do not know how to begin... the staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable and yes they do not have TV nor WiFi, the lake is clean, warm, beautiful. The restaurant is a little bit slow in service but it is definitely worth the wait. Food is delicious and very consciously priced. The only downside of the restaurant is the music... Too much cumbia, salsa and too loud (not a big deal for me but it might be a bit annoying for you) Every single person that works here is genuinely nice, you just feel at peace and comfortable. My kids kayaked and almost never left the water. There were massages and a ping pong table that we also enjoyed. We all loved it and we want to be back soon!!! You just have to get in the mood of a relaxed vacation and you will love it too. It is one of my favorite places to stay in a family vacation...and WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE...All four of us loved it! Thank you

The food is very good, the menu is not very extensive, but at least everything we tried was good (chilaquiles, pasta, omelette, eggs). Drinks are ok as well. There's nowhere else to eat at least half an hour away so you either have all your meals there or plan for an escapade to the town. They have a tiny snack store at reception. We were, for almost our entire stay, literally the only guests but they were not very "around" so we had to look for them if we needed something. On our checkout day, a not very charming lady came to our room and angrily knocked at our door to tell us checkout was at 12, and it was already 12.30 so we needed to leave. Considering that there was not a single other host, and that nobody told us that we should leave at that time (and also we left half an hour later -even we had planned to eat there, but no thanks after that) I think it was not very attentive. Perhaps we wrongly assumed things but the ways were not the best. In general, the place is nice and very clean. Perfect for a complete escapade from the world (no TV, no telephone signal, not much to do but kayaking). We learnt after seing a large group of tourists staying for a short (couple of hours) stay that massages are also offered (but perhaps only when there are large groups or the resort it's fully occupied). A shame, since I'd have loved a couple during my stay. It's a nice place though they lack of information about what they offer.

Great place spot with helpful staff. Very clean and charming. The restaurant is very good which is very important since there is nothing near by. Right on the lake with easy access. Top quality things like beach chairs. The only draw back is the road in - 3.5 km and rough. We live in MX half the year and know from lousy dirt roads. This is one. You are 25 km from the town of Bacalar which is worth the visit - great fort and museum. I would recommend this resort. There were times there was pure quiet. There were also times withe cruise ship tourists but it wasn't a problem.

We stopped here to conclude our visit to Chochaban Ruins. After a drive down a narrow road lined by pineapple fields we came to this secluded haven. We enjoyed local cuisine under the gazebo and enjoyed this beautiful fresh water lake. There was an open bar and kayaks for use. The swimming area is floored with smooth rocks, not sand. The grounds were beautiful and well cared for. Lunch was delicious and the service was great.
