+ Location - Dirty rooms - poor WiFi - no real toilet (just holes in the ground) - very bad road to get there - restaurant does not deserve the name - rather an fast food shack All in all at the level of an average hostel - for more than 100 Euro per night not acceptable.

We just returned from a FANTASTIC holiday at this unique and magic place. The road is bumpy yes because you are not arriving to the St. Regis!!! Instead you hace the opportunity to enjoy and authentic Eco Hotel with fantastic service, authentic home made taste cuisine and above all outstanding hospitality. The place is owned and managed by a Mexican family which are truly committed to deliver service excellence, the staff is so courteous and accommodating. Nothing is by the book they rather create a tailor made experience for you. Great facility and wonderful details. I have been in many hoteles around the globe and I can honestly tell you that the sleeping quality was simply the best. There are very few places where you can wake up listening to the birds singing. The room is fantastic in all senses, you feel transported to a magic place where all you have to do is enjoy!!! Thank you Kuuch Kaanil, you made our holidays perfect hence we will be back for sure. Every single minute was enjoyable with you guys!!!!! Even being a big party you were able to accommodate making things happen as if we were the only guest in the hotel despite there were others.

I really like the place a lot, If you are looking for a retreat with privacy, silence, a place to read, to actually disconnect from all the stress outside, this is your place, quiet little cabin, a friend and I went there to have a space for ourselves. Being in the middle of nowhere has its pros and cons, for me it was a new experience, the cabins are nice with the basic stuff, the shower and toilet where different from what we are used to but we manage, The food is a very simple menu but lovely food, food from granma's house, Huevos revueltos, tacos de pollo, hamburguesas, sincronizadas, quesadillas, etc. very Mexican simple but good food. The staff awesome, always have a smile, always there to help you if you need anything, very lovely nice people. We spent the days reading, playing domino, eating, meditating, listening, talking... The closest thing is 10kms away so bring enough things to do The road to get there is good 95% of it just a little rough for the last 5%, again, is in the middle of nowhere, Eco friendly hotel, do not expect a perfect road, but... well is just at the end of the journey to get there, is in the middle of the jungle!! In the end, if you want a place for peace and quiet and very simple but delicious meal and the basic services, you will have fun, if not, look for other options.

This hotel is priced as a luxury hotel (US$ 100+ per night), but it fails to deliver in all aspects. I stayed there for 2 of the 4 nights I had booked and moved to Rancho Encantado, which is infinitely better and at the same price. Mattress is lumpy and uncomfortable, pillows are horribly tortuous! The room is dark and dingy and furniture is cheap and amateur- ecologic does not have to be dingy and old!! Outdoor bathroom sounds sexy and nice, but it's not when you're trying to use the toilet and have rain coming down on you... The restaurant is improvised and food is definitely not worth the price. Although it claims to be ecologic, it has a diesel water pump running ALL DAY, pumping water out of the Bacalar lagoon and a diesel generator running ALL NIGHT to power light bulbs and AC outlets. Nothing ecologic about that, also extremely unpleasant to always have that background noise!! Staff is very friendly but did not reimburse us for the two nights we did not stay.

Lacking of maintenance in general. Entrance is so bad and uneven you'd better have good tires my friend. Parking is so small and in bad shape it looks like a dump site. No AC and mosquito nets are falling off the frames. Wood floors have not been maintained, sealed or polish in who knows how long; dry toilets (no running water) are not cleaned properly and they smell, water faucets have not been cleaned either and water pressure at the sink is non existent. No place for luggage, it is a small space. At breakfast you do not get your own fruit plate, you have to share, and at night what kind of security do you have?! The person collecting the organic waste does not wear ANY kind of protection, not even gloves :(

I went here last august for just a couple of days, which was the exact amount of time you have to stay here if you appreciate your basic toilet amenities. Very quiet and peaceful, still, it takes a while to get there from the highway to the villas. It's not properly IN the "city" of Bacalar

I honestly believe that this place used to be good but has had its best days. They are situated at 1 of the most beautiful locations in Mexico and this is I think what keeps this place going though. After having made our way across the worst, bumpy and potholed dirtroad, we finally arrived. We made our way to the "reception" which consisted of nothing more than a counter though. Checked in and were taken to our cabin. The cabins look really nice from the outside, but the maintenance on the inside has been lacking. The mosquito netting over our bed was molded and you could really smell this. I don't think this is healthy, to inhale mold when sleeping...smh They did not have any other cabins available during our stay, so we had to suck it up for 2 days. All the time praying that we do not get sick. The bed felt like sleeping on bricks. We had no idea how to lay at some point since our whole body ached. We hardly got any sleep those 2 nights we were there and were so tired when we arrived at our next destination, that we missed an entire day because we had to catch up on sleep. The palapa over the water had seen better days. The deck chairs were all worn out, the glass in the middle of the palapa where one could supposedly watch the lake was not cleaned in ages. I don't even think I had seen any staff going up to the palapa...so even they know to avoid this. On our first day, we took the kayak and ventured out. The lake itself is magical indeed. And good for swimming and snorkeling, which is what we did after kayakking. Due to this place being pretty hard to reach over the dirtroad, we did not dare to venture out in the evening. And were therefore condemned to eat at the restaurant in the evenings. We were here for Christmas but nothing was organized by the hotel. So, we just had dinner and went back to our cabin afterwards. This was a missed opportunity for the hotel if you ask me. The internet connection is bad, we could not connect to wish our family a merry christmas. So we were basically, literally off the grid. On the second day we decided to go to the town of Bacalar and I am so happy we did. Had we done more research we should have booked and stayed somewhere else. The only plus I can mention from this acommodation, is the outside shower with hot water. Admittedly, the location, smack down at the lagoon is magical but that is all this place is venturing on. Nothing else. Too bad though, it could have been so much better. Especially for the price they are charging. Mind you, this place is not cheap, therefore expectations are high...but you would have to let go of any expectations you have.

The hotel itself is reaaaaaly nice, I love the way they keep it ecological though comfortable. The food is good and not overpriced. You can use a kayak for free. The room is neat and clean. However, we personally went there to meet again with nature and silence... which was not the case due to some noisy guests. In the room there is a board asking for keeping quiet and respecting the others guests, but I think the personnel should gently remind it if this common sense is forgotten... or install some panels in the common areas to let us not forget about it. This spoilt a bit our one night stay.

We only stayed here for one night, but we would love to return there. The bungalows are very nice and well maintained. There is a restaurant in the hotel and the prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is very good. Staff were very friendly.
