We stayed at the Ellerton Bungalow in October 2016 for three nights. The bungalow itself transports you back to the colonial era. Its location is a bit of a drive from Kandy, on top of a valley with a gorgeous view of the surroundings. If you plan to go there from Dambulla, you could visit the Botanical Garden on the...

Ellerton is historical, calm, well run and well located. The perfect place to stay near Kandy. The food is cooked using herbs and ingredients from a perfectly kept garden and the chef is a wonderful, kind man who we actually cooked with in the kitchen for a few hours. Go here for peace and luxury on your trip.

We stayed here during the second stop of our honeymoon. The Ellerton is quirky and has loads of character, but I couldn't help feeling that it could do with a bit of updating in places. The views were certainly stunning - we were in a garden bungalow - and the pool a welcome refreshment from the Sri Lankan heat. The...

The Ellerton is tucked away in the hills near to Kandy. When you first arrive, staff greet you with a smile and cool towels, along with a welcome drink. We were taken to our Garden Suite Bungalow and there was something magical about the four poster bed with a view that looked our over the hills of Kandy. Having been...

We spent three nights at Ellerton and it has been wonderful. It is the kind of place where you do not feel in an hotel but at home. Food is fantastic, service efficient, timing of meals very flexible, you just have to ask ! For the adult, all you have to do is to ask curried or non curried main...

We spent 1 month in Sri Lanka, staying in 9 different hotels, ranking from Home-stays to 5-star-hotels - Ellerton was by far the best in any way! It's a truely authentic place with a unique garden, the staff is perfectly trained and extremly nice (and happy due to fair payment and a great management), the chef is first class.

Ellerton bungalow was very welcoming as we got there with an amazing view from the swimming pool. The rooms are unsuitable for people who like modern hotels as this is quite traditional. The house pets (2 dogs and a cat) are very friendly and really like people they don't cause any trouble either. The quality of beds is a bit...

Absolutely gorgeous. Spectacular! Serene . Brilliantly done up and run property near Kandy. The old English house and the newly added rooms are all very pretty. Beautiful restaurant. Amazing srilanka n and continental food. Very relaxing.

We spent a magical 5 nights in Ellerton, to celebrate a friend's 70th. Our party took the entire bungalow and the stay was just perfect. Fabulous property, great location, excellent food, attentive service - not one thing could have been bettered.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ellerton is a fine old tea-estate bungalow where our aim is to give you the feeling you are staying in a friend's house and not a hotel. We deliberately lack many of the features associated with hotels but these are more than compensated for by a genuinely relaxed and informal atmosphere. ... more   less
