Jamtara Wilderness Camp-Pench Madhya Pradesh Situated in the Village of Jamtara, near Pench National Park, Jamtara Wilderness Lodge is a 12 luxury tented property in the heart of rural Pench. Surrounded by tall Arjuna Trees and an ancient Banyan rooted on a dry riverbed, each tented room overlooks the forest which set the perfectbackground to this jungle experience. Each luxury tent is designed to feel light and open, allowing guests the optimum view of nature. With the option of rolling up the front panels of the tent, the guests can bring the outside in but still being in the privacy of their own rooms. Although, these are tented rooms, the bathroom has been made into a permanent structure for the comfort of the guests. While many may sleep inside the tent, some may feel a little more connected with nature and have the option of sleeping outside on their patio. Mosquito netting will keep the bugs away, quilts and hot water bottles will keep the cold away. Since we also believe in supporting the community of our lodge, a "Machaan" night can be booked while generating revenue for the farmers. Here the concept is sleeping under the stars, just like the villagers. These Machaans are built on the land of the farmers and an amount of the night's rate will be paid to the farmer. Sleeping up high on stilts will allow you to watch the sky and everything below. You never know what walks through the farms at night. After an eventful night, safaris are booked according to the guest's preferences along with a wake-up call if needed. During the day guests are occupied with the safaris, but if they choose to stay back, a visit to village can be arranged. Specializing in producing jaggery, just walking through this village and witnessing how the village gathers around enormous pots of boiling sugar, taking turns churning the sugarcane juice into unrefined sugar is a very unique experience. If a relaxing day is required, our lodge has many different areas for guests to lounge around and read a book. With a cozy library, sometimes all one needs is lie in and a good read in a big comfy couch. Jamtara Wilderness Camp concentrates on bringing guests back to nature in a very simple way, using our surroundings and our community, we want our guests to leave with a unique experience and remember Jamtara and its people.
Dear Amit & Team Jamtara.... I wish to thank you for an incredible experience. A True Jewel in your crown This is definitely going to go top on my bucket list, when i recommend properties. Your staff were polished, poised & most of all they had the time for every guest. Elegant cutlery & crockery, in an ambience that did not erode an inch of the jungle feel. Local staff, deft at serving, making eye contact with guests without being intrusive & engaging in conversation, without going over the top. Absolutely Amazing.. So glad we decided to come. Warm regards, Rachel & Ravi

Jamtara Wilderness Camp was a wonderful surprise. We were expecting something on the primitive side but the camp is extremely luxurious. Our private tent with bathroom, dressing area and patio was very large such that the king size bed left lots of room for a big desk, couch and plenty of open floor space. Heating and air conditioning were available but, for us, not necessary. We were completely private in the forest, even with the sides of the tent rolled up during the day, leaving see-through netting for a full forest view. The communal area was beautifully decorated with very comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas. The pool was especially delightful in that it was refreshingly cool in the heat of the day and in a beautiful setting. The food was excellent, abundant and with many choices, including the picnic breakfast that came along on the morning safari drive into Pench National Park. Best of all was the staff. The General Manager, Kriti Pranad Patil, makes you feel welcome and well cared for from the moment you arrive and keeps the camp running flawlessly. She is clearly enjoying her work of making your stay as perfect as possible and this enthusiasm carries over to the rest of the staff. Our naturalist guide was remarkable in the extent and breadth of his knowledge, which extended beyond the many wonderful sightings we had on our safaris with him in the park. We both like plants and he was able to answer all our many questions with interesting responses. He was also informative about the local residents and the environmental problems in the area. This is a very wonderful place to stay while visiting the beautiful Pench National Park. We enjoyed tiger and leopard sightings in addition to many birds and other animals. We were sorry to leave after three days.…

This place is having charm and helps to unwind. Extreme courteous staff and dinner arrangements made were awesome. No meal we had same place. Safari we took from them and our experience with Mr Allwyn was too too good. His passion and experience extraordinary. Even jungle walk was too good. The whole vacation and experience was great.

Exceeded all expectations and more. Magnificent tented rooms all in a small camp setting with a lovely clubhouse. The food and service were also wonderful. The team has thought through every detail of your experience and it shows throughout the day. They even managed to set up a projection TV so we could watch the USA World Cup game — complete with popcorn :) We were especially impressed with the guiding. Our guide was formerly with &beyond (no longer operating in India) and his tracking and spotting talent was consistent with the level we experienced at &beyond properties in Africa. Had 4 great tiger sightings over a 3 night stay. Nothing is guaranteed, but we felt the guiding was top notch. Can’t say enough good things about jamtara.

Halfway into our wildlife tour in central India and what a lovely spot. The tented accommodation was lovely and the location was special. The very special atmosphere was enhanced by the large Banyan tree where we ate meals and had drinks by the fire pit. The staff were so attentive - Ram was on hand to attend to our every need. Critti was an ebullient host and our naturalist Deeraj was an expert on all things. Close to Pench National Park where we saw 5 leopards and a mother Tiger and her four cubs.

Simply breathtaking! Jamtara is a little piece of heaven on earth. It’s a beautifully curated space - each little corner of the camp is a conversation starter. The luxury tents are beautiful as well; you really feel like you're being embraced by the jungle. More importantly, they have put together an absolutely fabulous team - everyone from the manager to the naturalist, and from the server to the chef, is warm, welcoming and friendly. It’s rare to find a team as wholesome and energetic as this one. To add to the magic, most of their team has been recruited from the surrounding villages. For every meal, they scouted a new location in the area and set up a beautiful dining experience for us there. The chef traveled with us to these little corners to set up a live food counter. The naturalist was always around to share insights, take us on walks, and open up the world of Pench to us. The team at Jamtara went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable stay. It truly was an experience like no other.…

Heard about this unique camp situated next to the Pench Tiger Reserve buffer area during our Oct 2021 visit to Kanha Jungle Camp. Finally got a first-hand experience in May 2022 (after a postponment owing to Omicron). The camp in well-hidden from the road and offers luxury tent accommodation with all modern facilities. There is a restaurant area, a small infinity pool (which attracts thirsty forest denizens e.g langurs and a variety of birds) and a welcome/ sit-out area. The first impression is the warm welcome that is extended to the guests by a welcome team. The staff, led by Allwyn and Rafiq leave no leaf unturned to ensure that your experience is special. Our 3 Night/ 4 Day stay was mostly spent outdoors - with 4 safaris into the Pench Tiger Reserve and a couple of birding sessions at the Pench River and Khumbpani waterhole - all of which were rewarding - more so since we had the expert naturalist Allwyn accompany us. We learnt so much about the jungle and conservation in general. Indeed it was due to his enthusiasm, skillful driving and tireless efforts that got us our first and only tiger sighting for this trip - but it was a sight that will stay with us forever - when we got to see the majestic Jhandimatta female lounging at the Alijodh Talab (not too far away from the Karmajhiri Gate). The food was delicious - for the safaris sumptuous packed breakfast was provided. The fare was predominantly Indian - the final lunch was continental. The chefs are more than happy to cater to any requests... Overall, Jamtara certainly lived up to the expectations - in fact, it exceeded the expectations... I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend time close to nature away from the hussle-bussle and noise of city life...…
