Fantastic terrace with great views. Ancient townhouse lovingly restored by Paolo and Valeria. Lots of features and antique knick knacks to look at and wonder about how did they collect all this stuff? Great hosts. Have stayed twice and am planning to go back again.
Having stayed in a couple of B&Bs in the same town, this one is the best. The owners are incredibly friendly and detail-oriented. Breakfast was ample (especially great were the delicious homemade cakes every day!), everything was impeccably clean, and the views from La Soffitta room and the shared outside terrace where breakfast is served were incredible (see photos). The owners offer a cooking class or just homemade dinner served outside on the beautiful terrace. Although we didn’t do this we wish we had. The bed was comfortable, the room nice and dark at night and in the morning thanks to shutters, and the room itself was really large and appointed in a fun way. Just FYI - there is no air conditioning. This is Highly Recommended, especially considering the great value and location in a wonderful real Tuscan village without too many tourists. …
We spent a night in this adorable property upon our arrival in Tuscany and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The owner, Valeria, is warm and thoughtful all the time. She also took care of lighting up the fireplace, making a reservation for a restaurant and for a wine tasting. The apartment is impeccably clean and the breakfast is great and well-prepared with full attention in the guests. There are many options of apartments in the residence, suitable for different needs. Ours was a cozy, vintage and large bedroom with a private bathroom. We’ll be looking forward to come back soon and to bring our families with us.
This review is overdue. My wife and I have stayed the last 2 summers, 2017 and 2018, both times in the 2nd half of July. After our first amazing stay there we resolved to make a return visit the following year. Everything about our stay(s) there seemingly couldn't be improved upon from the grace and friendliness of the hosts Paolo and Valeria to the tranquility and character of the hill top medieval village of San Donato where the hotel is located. Each night the village would come alive as the surrounding residents inside the walls and from the surrounding countrside would fill the restaurants and oudoor patios...all located steps from the front entrance of the B&B. As a visual artist I found our experience there working its way into my travel/sketch journal in a steady stream. Breakfeast each morning on the outdoor terrace, overlooking the surrounding vinyards was a continuing delight. One morning I saw Paolo equally inspired and taking snapshots along with me of the early morning mist before it dissipated with the rising sun. They also give their guests the option of a multi course dinner with wine (of course!) out on the terrasse and quite reasonably priced. Even our room (La Collina), which we requested again for our 2nd visit remained cool during the summer heat wave...the ceiling fan and hilltop location doing its thing. I found the artist in me appreciating how inventively the rooms here had been decorated with bric-n-brac and various antiques and we loved coming back to our room each night. Finally my wife and I have been fortunate to have travelled the world and have stayed at many remarkable and memorable places however we both agree that this place readily goes to the top of list. The highest recommendation!…
Lovely listed building with lots of history. Paolo and his wife have restored beautifully. Looks just like the photos with views over Chianti. Very welcoming with an an aperitif before we went for dinner and a great breakfast the next morning. The living accomodation is upstairs and there is no lift. No air conditioning but a big ceiling fan to help keep you cool. There is a wood burner for heat in the cool months. Regulations for restoration prevent some modern facilities but this is easily compensated for by the general ambience and the attention given to us by the owners. If we are back in the region again we would stay there for sure.
