We stayed for nearly a week and will definitely return! Located remotely in the mountains in Kärnten, the hotel is surrounded by nature, ideal for long walks in along the snow-covered hills. The spa is beautiful, offers reasonably priced treatments and great quiet zones for relaxation. This is topped off by a sauna and steam room overlooking the mountains - what else does one want? The food is EXCELLENT! We are still reminiscing about it! Composed of a variety of vegetablesc spices and herbs, one is surprised every day! Creative, nourishing and so satisfying. A true highlight of our stay. In summary, it was such a treat! We would definitely recommend staying here if one is looking for a few days of quiet and peace.

If you love peace, beauty and excellent very tasty organic food, this is the place to stay! The hotel has a large spa area with numerous attractions, a large yoga room with beautiful views and a forest sauna. The hotel is surrounded by a big garden area. A natural pond with clear spring water is close by and invites for a swim after having been in the forest sauna. The hotel is directly connected to a large forest area which invites for short or long walks with scenic views. Bike hire is included. The board includes a magnificent breakfast ... a selection of fresh and different organic juices, freshly brewed speciality teas or coffes, different self-made rolls, breads and cakes, organic farmers butter, different organic cheeses and sausages, vegetarian spreads, fruit salads, freshly made Swiss Bircher muesli, freshly prepared egg specialities and and and, for lunch there is a salad buffet, in the evening the dinner is celebrated with a choice of different menus which always includes vegetarian choices. The food is of very high quality and very tasty. If weather allows you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the magnificent view while having your dinner. You have a great choice of vines and an excellent service. Spring water from the hotels own source is for free!

After New Year I've recognized two things: first, I haven't experienced a real winter in cologne and secondly, I couldn't stop looking at pictures from the mountains. And after a long photography season I've been longing for holidays. So I took that as a sign and started researching for hotels which are not too far away so that I would be able to get there by car from cologne and in the middle of nature, with a nice spa and restaurant which would allow me to do literally nothing but going for walks, enjoying the spa and have great food. Soon, I've found a couple of hotels and planned a tour which started at the fabulous Biohotel der Daberer in Kärnten, Austria. When I arrived, something great happened as soon as I've entered the room: I instantly felt at home. I know that this is a platitude people often use but I never really felt it until that day. The whole place is so peaceful and everything is decorated and furnished in a way which makes it a pleasure for all senses to just be there. Literally everything about this place was great but there are two things which I'd like to point out especially: For one, the food. Oh my god, the food. Der Daberer is a Bio Hotel and also a member of slow food Austria. Besides, the husband of one of the owners owns a stunning gourmet food store, the Edelgreißler Herwig Ertl. That maybe played a role when putting together the food concept of the hotel. Everything is organic, ingredients are of highest quality and I've found more vegetarian and especially vegan options than ever before. Especially for breakfast, which is very rare in my experience. Also, often the vegetarian option in other hotels have also been suitable for all kinds of diets and allergies which made me feel like I'm on a diet which is the last thing I want when being on holidays. Luckily, that hasn't been the case here. Everything has been so delightful and just YUM! The second thing which I've enjoyed most was the spa. It is freshly renovated and the design and atmosphere are to die for. Just take a look at the pictures if you like. There are several saunas including a forest sauna, a natural pond and a fantastic indoor swimming pool with a wonderful view over the mountains and in my point of view almost more important: two incredible beautiful relaxations rooms with the same stunning view. Finally, I'd like to mention some more things which I loved about my stay: the Alpinstudio was spacious and very comfortable, and I was even provided with a meditation cushion, the view from the balcony (and even bed ;) was beautiful and everyone of the staff has been highly professional and kind. Also, the owners regularly took their time to ask every guest if everything is alright and always have been present in some way which I thought is special. I don't say this a lot but I'm saying it this time: Daberer is one of my all-time favorite Hotels and I hope to come back one day.

At the moment, you are entering the foyer you are able to switch and flip the counter… fantastic balanced atmosphere, bio environment, fantastic bio food, a fine wellness center with everything you need, not to big please keep it and the complete house as familiar as it is !! A pretty warm welcome and hospitality. We love this specific house, the owners, leaders and staff. We love this extra ordinary place for having calm and healthy days to relax…. We've spent a week at the Daberer, a family run hotel with having the courage to adopt to today's requirements, but keeping the traditions of hospitality involving the fourth generation to the business..
The food is amazing and all-organic, the facilities have been recently upgraded to a great standard, the location couldn't been greener, the staff is friendly, prepared and professional.
This is the right place for more chilled couples or families with kids to have a healthy and relaxing holiday. However wouldn't recommend for those seeking loud parties and excessive consumptions.

Absolutely fabulous wellness hotel. All five senses are invigorated from the time you arrive in the beautiful setting of the Austrian Eastern Alps. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable, even included a yoga mat to stretch out. The views from our window were beautiful. Walking around the grounds offers the guest a chance to explore peaceful gardens, walk on the wellness path, recline on the conveniently placed lounge chairs, or enjoy a coffee and cake on the terrace. The meals are superb! We enjoyed swimming in the spring fed swimming pool, getting massages, using the Finnish sauna, the exercise room, and relaxing reading in one of the comfortable chairs. We definitely plan to return and stay longer.

Stayed with my spouse at this hotel, in one of the renovated rooms, which I can warmly recommend. These rooms are of modern style, spacious and once you open the window, you here the relaxing sound of a water stream. Beautiful, practical interior design; enough space for clothes and luggage. Excellent bed. Ipod station in the room.
The rooms are also equipped with yoga mats. I attended one yoga class, which was good. There is also a small gym and a spa - but as so often in Austria, they follow "a very open-minded" sauna culture. Beauty treatments are also available.
All rooms are missing refridgerators, shampoos, conditioners etc.
Once in the hotel, you should not miss "the forest sauna", which you can also rent just for yourself for some hours. This is exactly what we did, and it was great. One of the best saunas I have ever been to.
The owner and his staff will gladly advice on hiking possibilities, which are many in the area. Highly recommendable.
Food is good and so are the wines. Please taste prosecco with lavendel syrup, produced by the owner family - you can also buy the syrup in the hotel's shop. Owner and his family are constantly working and checking how the guests are - a great gesture. Breakfast is wonderful.
This hotel is excellent for relaxation, pampering yourself and having efficient hikes within the hotel's reach (by car). Staff is very friendly and professional.

Daberer is situated in a very peaceful, calm hamlet. A very beautiful property with spacious garden, a natural pond (very cold), a forest sauna and a fantastic indoor swimming pool with a wonderful view! The interior is very inviting, relaxing corners everywhere! Excellent diners and sompteous breakfasts. The variety of bread, juices, tea's ....etc .....to much to start describing. Breakfasts were a feast! The Daberer staff was very helpful and friendly! The only negative point was the lack of an elevator until the third floor. You had to carry all your luggage from the second to the third floor where the nicest rooms where situated.

The Daberer is our absolute favorite hotel and place. For years we have been visiting the incredibly friendly, lovely, funny and always courteous team at least twice a year. Both summer and winter holidays are recommended, because every season offers enough to make you feel comfortable in the hotel and in the town and the surrounding area.
The hotel is beautifully furnished and you can see at every point that everything has been and is being selected with a lot of time, money and, above all, love, because furnishings, books, pictures and art are constantly being renewed and supplemented. I love wandering through the hotel and enjoying the impressions and the quiet atmosphere.
The furnishings in the rooms are also beautifully selected. Modern, practical, but cozy and never overloaded. From the (comfortable!) bed and armchair you have a wonderful view of the small town of St. Daniel with its onion dome and the Carnic Alps.
The meals offered (slow food, organic and regional) in the hotel are always a feast for the eyes and mouth (breakfast, lunch and dinner), because they not only ALWAYS taste perfect, but always look color-coordinated and delicious. The quantities are so sufficient that we have never managed to try the cakes on offer. At some point we will have to hold back on the breakfast buffet and enjoy cake on the sunny roof terrace, with a view of the mountains, a cappuccino and good conversation or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.
At the Daberer we are always treated courteously and, above all, in a friendly, family-like manner. Speaking of treatment: the spa treatments and the adjoining wellness area are also a good alternative to the many activity programs on site (llama hikes, hikes with lunch outside, snowshoe hikes, cross-country skiing courses, torch-lit hikes, cooking courses, and so much more!).
We are already looking forward to our next vacation days at the Daberer. It feels like we're arriving at our second home.
