At the time of my visit the room was dirty. Despite this, I enjoyed my stay mainly because the atmosphere was welcoming, the staff were friendly, delicious food at a fair price. The place is cozy with a lot of character. Is located in a small quiet village.

A friend and I decided to meet in Cirencester as it's equidistant between our homes (Reading and Worcester). We found from Mumsnet that the Wild Duck Inn was child friendly so we headed there for an early dinner. What a gorgeous venue this is, spectacular! Despite having a cricket team in post match and lots of other diners, they made... More

We had a wonderful meal here. My vegetarian wife was very impressed with the chefs creativity. The inside decor and patio area are beautiful. The surrounding village of Ewen is small but very picturesque and worth a visit. The source of the Thames is near by along with footpaths.

When we ate inside the restaurant, it has to be one of the nicest authentic rustic countryside restaurant i have been. The service is excellent. Ordered the Beer Battered Whiting (Fish N Chips) which was excellent.

Visited the Wild Duck in a party of six and having had pre dinner beers (a great choice of real ales) and a two bottles of wine, we were somewhat shocked at the cost of £50 per head for the drinks, two courses and coffees. This was despite the fact that one main course was returned as being totally bland... More

For such a remote place, stumbling across the Wild Duck Inn whilst doing the Thames Walk was a highlight of the day. Great staff, extensive menu and a cracking range of local (proper) real ales made the visit for me and already looking forward to going back soon.

Visited the Duck for Dinner on Friday with 2 other couples . The beer was excellent good range of Stroud Brewery (try the Ale de flower) and Butcombe I had a steak well cooked and good. The disappointment was having to separately pay for vegetable sides. My friends dishes were very poor , one being sent back to the kitchen.... More

A perfect venue for a quiet and discreet business lunch for two people. Lunchtime special menu was extremely good value - rump steak was excellent. Good to enjoy local real ale in the form of Stroud Brewery's Budding. All in all, a great venue.

Great place for lunch with the family either indoor or outdoor. Indoor it has a classic pub area and another traditional restaurant area. Outdoor in the enclosed patio almost like a cloyster is pretty and secluded. The food was good. Few of us had lobster it was cooked well and delicious. The service was solicitous and overall fine. This restaurant... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Wild Duck Inn is a mellow Cotswold stone 16th-century Elizabethan inn set in the heart of the Cotswold village of Ewen and only a stone's throw from the River Thames. With a wealth of oak beams, ancestral portraits and open log fires make this a welcoming destination for all. The pretty courtyard garden makes for a lovely setting for dining al fresco. We pride ourselves on sourcing local suppliers of the highest standards, from Highgrove lamb to podges vegetables. We are perfectly placed for the Cotswold waterpark and its extensive activities which include sailing, wakeboarding, fishing, shooting and riding. Our geographical position places us conveniently also for badminton and Gatcombe horse trials. Cirencester is well know for its polo club from which we are 3 miles distance. We are also 25 mins from Cheltenham race course. ... more   less
