#3 of 6 Specialty lodging in Anse Kerlan
The Islander Guest House is a small family-run hotel. We are located on a property of more than 4,000sq metres of flat land at Anse Kerlan Beach, in the north-west coast of Praslin, one of the world's most beautiful tropical islands. The Islander Hotel offers comfortable relaxation in a holiday home of your choice, in self-contained Creole style bungalows, ranging from Standard to Family Villa. All accommodations stand proudly amongst well-tended lush gardens, filled with a riot of flowering shrubs. The Islander Hotel has its own private parking. A tortoise-pen is found close to the parking area and guests can feed them from the nearby grasses or leaves. The reception offers assistance for all your holiday requirements, such as excursions, fishing trip, diving, car rental, taxis, and more. The beach is a few steps away, providing the ultimate enjoyment of sun, sea and sand practically on your doorstep, and capping most every day with glorious sunsets. There you can find a newly built gazebo in the Balinese style, with beach beds, chairs and tables, shower, and other amenities.

First, the owners and staff are lovely people who went way out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and taken care of - they offered everything from great local tips, to organising boat excursions for us (whatever you do, don't miss out on a visit to Cousin Island!), to shipping our left-behind cell phone to us! Our bungalow was very comfortable: Spacious, immaculately clean on arrival (and cleaned daily if desired) and very peaceful. The restaurant is in a lovely setting, within a lovely garden from where you can watch the waves roll in, and enjoy beautiful sunsets. There are sunbeds available , or just find yourself a spot in the sand (sunny and shady spots). You can easily float in the waves, but I recommend bringing water shoes (anyway much safer in the Seychelles due to the possibility of sleeping Rays, Stonefish, etc.). We enjoyed several delicious lunches and dinners in their Capricorn restaurant, and truly enjoyed the fresh tropical juice blends in between meals. The Islander is located in a quiet part of the island, and is connected to the rest of the island by bus, the bus stop being across the street from the entrance. You can also enjoy a panoramic walk over to the famous Anse Lazio. (Although our favorite beaches were the small ones found between Grand Anse and Anse Marie Louise). We loved staying here and look forward to returning to long mornings watching and listening to the fire-orange Madagascar Fodies calling from the soft-leafed Indian laburnum tree just next to our veranda, and the flickering Seychelles Sunbirds foraging in the adjacent Geiger Tree. Bungalow 1 has our highest recommendation!

This is a place that has nothing special and a place I wouldn't stay again for that same reason. The bungalows were spacious with a nice terrace to the front and ceiling fans in the kitchen and the bedroom. There was air-conditioning available however at an extra charge of 8 euros per day, which I personally thought it was cheeky and unnecessary to add that extra cost to the customer when the accommodation was already expensive (we were already paying about 150 euros per night). The staff wasn't very welcoming, particularly the lady at reception. She was very much just to the point and, in hospitality, there is the need to treat the customer on a friendly and welcoming manner. I felt we were just another group of tourists paying for a room, not a warm welcome arrival. If you decide to stay at the Islander hotel, I would recommend to pay a bit extra and book the bungalows in front of the property complex. To note also that the property has a small artificial beach to the front, which was fine and the main plus was the sun sets, which were nice from the sea front part of the hotel.

My partner and I spent 4 nights here in the middle of November. We were slightly overwhelmed by the choice of places to stay on Praslin but, after lots of research and speaking to a friend who lives on Mahé, we chose the Islander Hotel. If you want a five star chain and the prices which come with it, go to Constance Lemeuria up the road - which is lovely (and the way to get to Anse Georgette). However, if you want a friendly, small place which is run by lovely people and is good value, I cannot recommend this place enough. Our cottage was lovely: spacious, immaculately clean on arrival (and cleaned daily) and very peaceful. The restaurant is in a lovely setting, next to a small, well-maintained garden from where you can also hear the waves crashing. The sea itself is a ten second walk from the restaurant, a lovely place to watch the sunset. There are sunbeds available and plenty of space (in direct sun and shade). The sea water is just beautiful, and it’s lovely knowing you are less than a minute’s walk from your cottage. Every morning we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and all of the evening meals did not disappoint - my particular highlights being the fish stir fry and the passion fruit sorbet! The location is about a 20 minute drive from the ferry port, or minutes from the airport. It’s in a fairly quiet part of the island - some people may prefer to be in the busier parts, but we found the location perfect, as it makes you feel like you’re properly getting away from it all. It’s also really easy to rent a car or bikes. Needless to say, I loved staying here and would return in a heartbeat!

Fantastic place to stay! The apartment was well equipped and service was perfect (clean, hot water in both kitchen and bathroom, prompt reaction to requests). There's a lovely garden paving the way to a gorgeous beach. We were able to book a car with the owner family too which was convenient at times. There's a supermarket just a 200m walk away. The restaurant served very good food. Staff was always friendly and helping out with everything. We would definitely stay there again.
