Spent 10 nights here and this is our summary: Villa Beautiful setting, Phantastic view over the beach, quiet. Pool is of decent size. Outside sitting area is nice, large fridge is available plus a sink for cleaning dishes if you have snacks in the villa. Inside: King-size bed, well equipped bedroom with sufficient charging sockets for phone, iPad etc. Wet area combined with wardrobe: spacious, nice shower. Observations: 1) supply the rooms with Moskito repellents. We got what we needed but every room should have repellents at hand. 2) one day circuit-breaker popped and we had no power. Was fixed the very next morning. 3) another day some sockets went dead, was also immediately fixed. 4) TV channels: at least the German channels come in a stop-and-go modus, guess the signal is weak. 5) only one toilet. A second one would be nice. All in all: 4 out of 5 Restaurant Great variety of menus, sorted into Asian / Indian / creole / Med food. We sampled basically every item and it always was delicious. Had almost every night a bottle of wine, recommended by „Our“ sommelier. All in all: 5 out of 5 Setting: Beach is Sandy, albeit covered in parts by the hard shells of dead corals. The bay provides for both snorkeling along the corals or free swimming on the left side. Staff: ALL of them - from the butler taking care of you and your villa to the people at the Spa, the restaurant, the beach, the Biggy-drivers, the management: they were ALL outstanding! Always competent, friendly, quick and alert and fun to chat with. The people working here get 7 out of 5. Summary: 7 stars to the staff, the villas are nice with a few flaws and the food is great. It comes at a high price-tag but was worth every penny. Well done folks!

Hotel's Favorite
Luckily, we could escape for 7 nights to wonderful Maia and enjoyed an amazing time there. It’s an intimate resort with only 30 villas. 21 are amidst or on top of the verdant hill, 9 are scattered along Anse Louis. All are identical in size and design, the beach villas do have certainly in addition a spacious garden area. The décor is elegant and unpretentious, providing a warm and cosy ambiance. Bath amenities are from Hèrmes, coming in 200ml sizes. The outside area is equipped with a huge private pool, a big, sunken outdoor bathtub and a private bar with pantry for your butler. Those bar is definitely something special! You can stock your fridge and minibar with bottles according to your personal liking, refilled on demand. Our lovely butler Raphela took very good care of us. She was always around to take note of our wishes or to arrange something special. All of the team and GM Lionel und RM Mathieu were so cordial and amiable, we felt like family. As we have been the only guests for the first few days, it was certainly very private and personal. Due to the quarantine-thing in the Seychelles (which ended by 24th of March), not too many tourists were around at the beginning of March. Allover, the atmosphere was refined yet relaxed, with a very warm vibe. We felt absolutely comfortable. Service was always great and we had lots of fun with our waiters and the barkeeper. Also, some nice gestures like complimentary spa products in the villa on Women’s Day and local musicians playing one evening only for the two of us were really appreciated. Food was excellent, there are four cuisines in the evening (Indian, Asian, Mediterranean and Creole) and one international menu during lunch time. Of course the chefs are more than happy to arrange something off-menu. We had also some delectable recommendations from the kitchen. Mainly focussed on the local cuisine as they soon noticed that we love food „the creole way“. You should not miss those extra delicious starters: Ceviche, poké bowl and fish carpaccio. Also, sashimi and sushi (we ordered off-menu some inside-out rolls) were fantastic. There is (currently) only one outlet called Tec-Tec, and a separate wine cellar (an air-conditioned room). As you can enjoy all meals at all places, it’s not a point to consider as this option provides many different experiences. The resort does produce own glass-bottled water, which I absolutely value. It’s also served in the restaurant, this is unfortunately not always the case. So you can avoid the usual bottles to be flown out from Europe. Also, butter has been wrapped in cinammon leaves, a very appealing and sustainable way of presentation. The concept of Maia is based on „wherever-whenever“ which means you can have breakfast at 2pm on the beach or a dinner late in the night at the helipad. It’s all up to your preferences and included in the beyond-AI package. As well champagne (we got served Roederer and Drappier) and some nice things like a bath ceremony with petal or sunset cocktails amidst the granite boulders are part of the package. Divers can enjoy complimentary trips provided by a close-by dive center. Raphela is very talented, all decoration was lovely arranged with very attention into the detail. It’s really a couple‘s place, but certainly also ideal for families. They are on the way to transform some beach villas into family villas and to add a 4 bedroom hill villa. Also some other interesting plans are under discussion since they recently joined the renowned Anantara group. We stayed the first five nights in a hill villa with spectacular view over beautiful Anse Louis. The last two nights we moved to a beach villa. Both experiences are very special and combining is the way to go. The beach villa’s garden area is gorgeous. And our outdoor shower which is camouflaged as a fish so lovely! This feature ist only available in villa # 109. Also, we were lucky enough to spot a single hatchling in the water. As it was only one we assumed it was a „premature hatch“. The next morning, we spotted a lot of traces on the beach so the rest has till then obviously found the way to the ocean. Good luck! On the last day of our stay the government allowed to open the spa (it was closed due to lockdown measures). It’s a stunning jungle spa with outdoor pavilions hidden in the lush scenery. You can hear the birds chirping during the treatments, just lovely. We enjoyed a fantastic and very relaxing Maia-Signature-Massage. Also, I have to highlight to all the ladies those handmade hair mask with local fruit and coconut. Marvellous! As well the other homemade spa products which I used were superb. Even if we hadn’t had the chance to leave the resort before departure day due to the 6 nights quarantine (plus waiting time for the test result), we never felt bored. Time was flying with strolling around the beach, swimming and other lazy things or some surprises from Raphela. Swimming conditions were good, no currents or huge waves during our stay. Just at the beginning of the beach and on some other parts there are rocks/stones in the shallows. So you need to check for the best place to get in, especially during low tide. On some days we had a bit of seagrass, but not much of an issue. It’s nature, I am not one of the people which are bothered as seagrass is important for the environment. Maia is truly a special and romantic place, providing a very high level of privacy and hospitality. We could absolutely recharge and are planning to come back for a short stay next year.

We stayed here over Christmas, arriving December 21st & Leaving 29th. We had a fantastic time, & the hotel is quite special. Overall it was very enjoyable, albeit that - as always - nothing is perfect. What we loved: we had a villa on the hill (207) - fantastic sunsets, very roomy, luxurious, not overlooked and a great infinity pool + outdoor bath. Each villa gets a butler for the duration, and Wasim couldn’t have been more helpful. Fruit bats flying over every night & lots of bird life (mynas especially). The grounds are very well kept, the beach is close and very nice. The restaurant area and pool are lovely, very welcoming and very casual. While the hotel was full we rarely saw more than 1-2 other tables of guests, & very easy to do your own thing all day with little interference. It’s not a party hotel or somewhere to “be seen”. For us, that was perfect There was an all-day menu which was fully included & covered a wide range of food types & styles. The fresh fish in particular was very good (red snapper, grouper, tuna) & you could order whatever whenever, and then order it again if you wanted to. Staff were without exception very pleasant and helpful, especially Mike who helped us with a snorkelling expedition (loads of fish but sadly no turtles). Management were around a lot making sure all was ok, speaking to guests & introducing themselves. Nice touches. What we didn’t like: The Spa is sadly a little shabby, and needs some attention. Some of the issues are understandable (shortages of wood to repair the walkways) given raw material shortages because of covid, but given the room rate I’m afraid that still doesn’t give them much leeway. The room rate was a hefty £3k per night when we were there. That’s (relatively) ok when you know it and pay it upfront, but not when there are so many extras? “Would you like to dine on the beach?” “That would be nice” “That’s extra…” Same for some drinks (wine & named spirits), some food (like lobster), and so on. Anything extra was a huge additional price by any standards - I’m afraid it stuck in the throat after a while given the size of the existing charge? £3k a night and you still can’t put a lobster on the menu without me having to pay more? Did we enjoy it - very much so. Would we go again - I doubt it? Would we recommend it to friends - yes. If you haven’t been, it’s lovely for a relaxing holiday with most things well taken care of in fantastic surroundings, just not enough to drag us back there given the cost.

We came to Maia with no expectations and thinking we have experienced the best that these kind of destinations can offer. And, my oh my, how wrong we have been. This is a whole new level of service in a 5 star hotel. Superb, excellent and beyond expectations. We stayed in one of beach villas (just 9 scattered along Anse Louis) with a private garden and on the beach. Food was excellent. The concept of Maia is “wherever-whenever“ which means you can have breakfast at 4pm or have something from dinner menu in the morning. The décor is elegant and unpretentious, providing a warm and cosy ambiance. Our butler Adeel took very good care of us. He was always there to fulfill all our wishes or to organize something special. All of the team was kind, warm, welcoming and helpful and always with a smile. The atmosphere was refined yet relaxed. For us as guests nothing was a must and everything was possible. We felt absolutely comfortable. Service was always great. I can not find words to describe what a great butler is our Adeel. He was reading our mind and meeting our wishes the moment they appear and was able to prepare each day a new surprise for us. We felt like on a honeymoon and we are 26 years married. Maia Anantara is truly a special and romantic place, giving a very high level of privacy and hospitality.

We had a moment of our life with so much relaxation with our kids after few years with busy life in such a small paradise on earth. It was such great hospitality from an amazing staff from our arrival to the departure with care of attention. On the day of arrival, we were welcome with beautiful rain which was most needed for my kids as they have not experienced it for some time and the next day we woken up with sunny blue sky. Our villa (premier ocean view pool villa) is in such breath-taking location where you can see the sea from your bed and the 240-degree panoramic view of the island at the same time. More than that our villa host Nehemiah made our stay more unique as he has done his best to take care of us from bottom of his heart. He was my little sons’ best friend as he still remembers him very well. We were lucky to enjoy the finest meals including fresh fruits and lovely sea food platters prepared by chef Manoj and Udesh. I had a lovey early morning yoga session every day and the most relaxing Anantara Signature massage at the Anantara Spa made me more pampered on top of everything. We had a city tour, visit the water fall and another unique experience of a helicopter ride over the Seychelles islands. I could write more but I would like to recommend this place for someone who would like to have proper relaxing holiday with your love once without thinking twice. Once again thank you all for made our stay unforgettable which we have lot of beautiful memories to share with our close once.
