Had booked for only 1 night in a powered site at the park but stayed an extra night as there was too much to see and do in the complex. Amenities were individually contained ensuites and well maintained. Washing machines were only $2 per load, the cheapest I have ever come across. Dinner menu is not extensive but tasty and... More

The converted rail carriage was very comfortable and secure. The restuarant served good food and a range of beverages. The bush breakfast was a highlight and would be a fantastic experience for those travellers who weren't into camping. Toasting your own bread and Billy tea went down well with the eggs and sausages. A local blue wing kookaburra added entertainment... More

Take no notice of the 2012 reviews, this is a really lovely place to stay. They have kept the area as close to natural as possible, so you really have a sense of being in the outback, yet there are ensuite style amenities, and a huge resort style bar and restaurant, open to the surroundings, just a few minutes walk... This place is well worth the money. We also stayed there in the newly renovated train carriages and it was lovely. Comfy beds, new private bathroom and no t.v which was a welcome change. We went on two tours the Archway Explorer and the Sunset Tour. Both were spectacular. I HIGHLY recommend the sunset tour. When its right on dusk... More

Visited the lava tubes and enjoyed the experience. We took the "Active Tour" and found accessing the tubes challenging but once inside the tubes the challenge was well rewarded. I found our guide very informative and friendly. We stayed overnight in a refurbished rail carriage which was different and added to the experience. The restaurant food was not expensive and... We stayed in a glamping tent. Having read the reviews on this site we were a bit apprehensive. Our tent was very comfortable - 2 single beds with sheets and a doona. There are fly screens and a light and power point. The tents are raised from the ground with one step to inside which means that dirt is not... More

My friend and I took my 82 year old mother on a road trip in Far North Queensland which included the Undara Volcanic National Park. We stayed in one of the railway carriages, participated in the bush breakfast and undertook the Mobility Tour to one of the lava tubes. The whole experience was wonderful - the lava tubes are amazing... More

Please everybody go and see this wonder of the world Note - book prior for the tour, you cannot go self guided! Don't be disappointed by not booking! Our guide was very knowledgeable about all the aspects - even took the time to answer my 5&6 year old boys questions! Thanks again!

We didn't even know about this except for other travellers telling us as we got close in our travels around Aus. It is truly awesome. We are in a motorhome, the sites are huge. Some sites like the drive through for caravans are probably 20 metres long. Everything about this place gets the thumbs up. The management should be congratulated... More

While this is not a cheap trip - yes they do charge well for this experience, we loved every minute of it. We were travelling from Charters Towers - be prepared for a long trip of seeing not a lot on the way (around 5-6 hours) - it is best to start your drive early. The Experience grounds are fantastic... UNDARA EXPERIENCE – AUSTRALIA’S ACCESSIBLE OUTBACK! Only 3½ hours drive from Cairns and four hours from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland Australia, Undara can be easily accessed via the Savannah Way by conventional vehicle and is situated right on the edge of the Undara Volcanic National Park. The Undara Lava Tubes are a world class natural geological phenomenon. Huge tubes formed approximately 190,000 years ago; molten lava drained out under a thick cooler crust, leaving a series of long, hollow tubes.
