One of the most clean, beautifull hotels I've ever been. The staff was friendly and resourcefull. Amazing bar and coctails. The food was great and the pool very clean .We had a great time and we'll be sure to stay again.
We went to Maravel Land hotel this year in August, it was a family trip. At first you have to clarify that there are more than one Maravel hotel in this area, so be sure you search info about the right one. We stayed in Maravel Land Hotel (3*) (but next to our hotel was Maravel Star Art hotel 4*). We booked a standard double room (through our travel operator), but when we arrived they gave us a room for 4 people (without additional cost) so it was very comfortable. Rooms for two persons were also big enough. Rooms were clean – towels were changed each two days, rooms were cleaned every day. Our balcony was quite big and there was also some sea view (trees were in front of the sea, but we could see some of it). The location is very good – the hotel has its own beach by the sea. If you want a sunbed, you have to pay extra – 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella costs 5 euro per day, but you also get 2 soft drinks included. The sea was quite wild – almost all the days during our stay there was the red flag. Huge waves (looked amazing, but you can’t swim in such waves). One day there was the yellow flag, but it was hard to get in the sea, because when you go in to the sea, you have to step on a very slippery, long rock. Of course, if you can pass it, then you can swim, but it was not easy. The pool was not very big, but it was big enough as there are not so many guests at the hotel. We really enjoyed it – the hotel is not big, so it is quiet and cozy. A lot of palm trees and flowers all around in the territory. As we had only breakfast and dinner included, a few times we had a lunch at the beach bar. Prices are very friendly, portions are large and everything was tasty (for example, you can order gyros for two persons for 5 euro). What was weird – it is not allowed for men to wear shorts during the dinner – they ask you to wear long trousers. It was asked to my travel companions too, but as we came to Greece (!) in August when it is +35 outside it was not planned at all to take any warm clothes with us. And, as it is a 3* hotel, no one ever imagined that something like that would be asked. So maybe it looked that we are rude, but my friends did wear shorts all the week during the dinner. Rhetymno is a few km from the hotel. You can get there by bus, it takes approximately 20-30 minutes. You can buy the bus tickets at the hotel and also at the hotel you can find the bus schedule. The bus was quite full when we went to Rhetymno, but it was terrible to get back. At the main bus stop there was a huge crowd (I would not recommend to take the last bus on the schedule – we went back at about 9 pm and it was already crowded). You buy tickets at the ticket booth at the bus stop and wait for the bus. When it arrives, the lady from the ticket booth comes out and shouts out prices of the tickets (for example, in the bus that has just arrived can get only those who have tickets for 1,30 or 1,60 euro etc.) This weird situation creates chaos, so be prepared for it if there are a lot of people at the time. We rented a car from Eurocars (just across the street from the hotel) – if you want to rent a car, I truly recommend them – they have the best service and prices! Overall we enjoyed our stay at Maravel Land and would definitely come back! Thank you for a lovely holiday!…
Clean, nice, big enough rooms. Friendly staff, speaking English at least at basic level. Choice of food (halfboard) is ok for 3 stars hotel, also for vegetarians, wide offer of vegetables Directly on the beach, equipped with only small swimming pool High risk of big and dangerous waves resulting in red flags. We spent there 10 days in August and were able to really swimm only for 2 days! Other 2 half days we can go to the water for about 2 hours, than it was forbidden. It is very frequent situation in this area. Extremely noisy rooms on the street side, it is about 6 rooms, there no chance to sleep because of high traffic.
We spent 10 nice days in this hotel.( me, my husband and our 3 years old son). The Hotel is in a really nice place, near the sea and not far from Rethymnon center. If you rent a car, it takes about 10-15 min get to Rethymnon. Near the hotel there are a lot of restaurants ant small supermarkets, where you can buy everything you need. We really liked the personnel in the hotel. All were very kind and helpful. The owner of hotel is very nice person too, he was very kind for our child. The food was really tasty, we had not any problem with it. For 3 stars hotel it is ok. But please do not wait that there would be the special meal for children, it is only 3 starts. All meal was really fresh and good cooked. Only some suggessions from our side: 1. Please try to clean the beach near the hotel more often. A lot of people having a rest there, so in my opinion it could be more clean. 2. Playground for children must be improved. There are a good place for the playground, but it is very old, not similiar as we saw on photo of hotel.…
We spent here amazing week. The food was delicious, staff pleasant, they solved every our problem without hesistation. Room was big enough including balcony where you can store stuff from beach. We get exactly what we expected. There were just two things which made me give 4/5. First one was the fact that wi-fi was accessible just from the reception but that would not mather so much. And second thing was the bathroom in our room - especially the shower. It was absolutely impossible to have a shower without flooding the whole bathroom and we were annoyed with wiping the floor after every shower. It would be appropriate to fix it. But its possible that we were in a room which is just waiting for renovation. Anyway, thank you for perfect holiday.
We spent a week in Maravel Land and to be honest we don't know if to recommend it or not. There are many positive things to highlight that are later destroyed by some negative nonsences. Staff: friendly and ready to help, working hard every day. The biggest plus of the hotel. Animation programme: Basically no animation programme at all, only one Greek night on Thursday. No games, no activities like sports, nothing. If you can entertain yourself it doesn't mind but some people would appreciate it. Pool: clean but not enough sunbeds (approx 20 sunbeds & 10 umbrellas), we had to wake up every morning by alarm at 6 a. m. to put towels to reserve it. I know, don't judge us, we just wanted to have a sunbeds by pool :-) Beach: Red flag for 5/7 days, sunbeds (2) and umbrella for €5 even on the hotel beach. Earning money everywhere. I would rather pay more on the holiday price and have the basic "holiday tools" included. Room: we had a room placed in the ground floor with terrace directly next to the sidewalk, impossible to keep windows open during the day. Cleaned daily, but something stinked there. We changed the pillows, it helped a lot but not deleted the smell totally. Had to ventilate the room frequently but due to its location only when we were there. Other guests did not have the same problem so I guess it was only a bad luck in the specific room. Beds are ok, nothing special but after all day on sun you can sleep on everything :-) Food: even there were less choices I expected the food was OK and everytime we had a good meal. Second biggest plus! Drinks: this point is the biggest disapointement of all holiday. Postmix (Mirinda, 7up, Pepsi, sparkling watter), beer, wine. Still watter was poured from bottle which was filled from pipe before. Just why? To look better? I don't know... From alco drinks - ouzo, rakija, cognak. Everything from the cheapest brand and impossible to enjoy. Juice - no way, just some "juice looking" fluid colored into orange. Overall - the staff does its best but the management of the hotel forces them to earn on everything over the very basic standard. And the level of product they offer is the cheapes as possible. I really missed some more alco drinks (local vodka, local rums & coctails made of it), food (only one day pita, tzatziky and souvlaki and it was delicous!!!) I would recommend this hotel to not very spoiled people or if the price is interesting. Our price was a bit higher therefore we have expected something more. But!!! It's only up to you how you enjoy your holiday and we enjoyed it a lot! :-) …
Beautiful stay. Very friendly and kind staff, nice people. Tasty, Fresh and Balanced Cuisine. More than Enough Food. Excellent location just on the Beach. Price vs. Value comparison is very suitable. Rethymno town is some 6 km, 20 minutes by bus. Tickets available in the reception. Many possibilities to rent a car /scooter. Very good access into the sea even for children. But due to some big stones in it, it is better to wear water shoes for first few days. Due to the sandy bottom and shallow water, there is slightly cloudy water. While snorkeling in the water not seeing anything. Pool is clean but small, rather only for children, depth from 60 to 160 cm. Few lounge chairs around the pool, almost all of them always busy. No animation for children. Generally Satisfaction! I can recommend!…
PLUS: The location was perfect for us (right next to the sea). The pool was clear. More suitable for families. MINUS: 1. some apartments are old, without shutters for the sun and old a/c. 2. cleanliness: if you don't mind shabby towels and holey sheets, it's ok. if you don't ask, they will change them once a week(!) We believe that it' s too expensive for what it offers. 3. Worst all inclusive i 've ever tried! The food there is really bad with not many options! We were lucky the restaurant across the street was excellent.
Excelent stay. Very very kind staff. Good Cuisine. Quiet location. Not overcrowded beach and crazy waves :). Price vs. Value comparison is very suitable. Rethymno town is not far away by bus. Tickets able to buy in directly reception. Also many possibilities to rent a car /scooter to prepare a round trip through whole island (we've done). As I said I was very satisfied. And none refugees all around...
The hotel is located right on the beach, the family room on the first floor is spacious with wooden furniture but a bit noisy because of the air conditioners of a nearby hotel, the food was fresh and tasty, the lunch box was the biggest and tastiest of all we've had, the staff were friendly and helpful, the only drawback of our stay was a stony entrance to the sea. When the sea is rough, it's not safe to bathe.
