This was our 1st time in Crete! We had a great time staying at this hotel. We booked two rooms and didn’t do the all inclusive because we wanted to explore the other restaurants in the area. We did enjoy the breakfast buffet as it had a lot to offer, from pancakes, breads, homemade jams, eggs, fruit, spreads. I enjoyed the daily aqua aerobics and apologies I can’t remember his name but he was great and funny too! If you want to go to the beach, make sure you have water shoes because it is a bit rocky! Staff was super friendly and helpful also. Rooms were very clean and serviced daily with clean towels too! And you should take a trip into the old town because it’s about a 15 minute cab ride and worth the trip too! Thank you again!

people in Crete are generally very warm and polite, which I appreciate a lot. The sea on this side of crete mostly calm. The hotel is constantly kept very clean. Our room did have a slight but persistent unplesant odour throughout our stay. The hotel has a nice large pool with salty water which feels like it's slightly colder than the sea. The food is ok, though they could put more effort on the bread and the coffee as well as offering a more autoctonous atmosphere.. During our stay there was one musical event. The decoration is nicely planned.
Other aspects to develop: There is an outdoor restaurant in front of the beach that plays their music far too loud starting in the morning, considering the average age of the customers is over 50, some children and some teenagers, surely their main interest won't be to rave. Customer service:I thought it wasn't the politest thing to ask us to pay the "extras"( safety box, and drinks during dinner) the afternoon before the day we left, given that plausibly we could have consumed more that same night.

We have stayed here a few times, we are two couples that come here and just chill for a week, what more could you want, The hotel is run very well, I like to see the new manager doing his tours a number of times a day making sure all is fine and is approachable for any problems at all(although I had none).

reception helpful. local drinks and cocktails were good too. 20 minute bus ride into Rethymno from the hotel.

The rooms have all been updated and lovely and fresh also quite large.
The Hotel is on the high-street one end and on the beach the other served by two bars with loads of room not just in bars but also by the pool and beach.

The Food really tasty and fresh with a massive choice and differently themed everyday,

What makes this hotel is the staff, I normally name names however every single member of staff did their job perfectly with no complaints,

Many, many thanks to the Rethymno Palace staff for making our stay enjoyable and see you soon.

Enjoy a Covid-safe holiday will all staff following all safety rules at all times.

First time we visit this hotel from 30.jun 2021 to 7.july 2021. we were so satisfied that we repeated our stay twice more in August 🙂 Hotel and its surroundings very very clean. Very nice and new rooms with big balkony.food to choose from for everyone. very tasty, no waiting anywhere, staff very friendly and really did a good job. General manager oversees that everything works at 101% 👌beach clean, fine pebble .. right next to the beach beach bar with everything you need for a pleasant holiday (coffee, juices, mixed drinks etc ...) I recommend mojito and pina colada :) it's just a matter of thanking people for their good work and friendly approach :)

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at The Rethmyno Palace hotel. Everything was perfect from start to finish.
Check in was fast and efficient. Reception staff were happy to help. For example there was a bottle of red wine in our room as a welcome gift. We don’t drink red wine so I asked if it could be swapped for white and this was promptly done while we were at the pool. The room was spotless and the shower was great - Greek plumbing has definitely improved in recent years!
We did reserve sunbeds in our favourite area of the pool, and most were gone by 10am. There were also beds on the beach and there generally seemed to be enough for everyone. I’d like to mention the amazing team of cleaners who seemed to work all day and into the evening keeping the outside areas spotless.
The food was very good; there was a huge choice. We were on the all inclusive package and we liked the little touches in the restaurant such as they leave you a bottle of wine so you don’t have to keep looking out for a top up!
The beach bar was also very good, a wide range of cocktails and other spirits. There was a comprehensive menu of what was included in the AI package. There was no pressure to tip although of course we did and staff were always very appreciative. There was also the bonus of a glorious sunset each day from the beach and our balcony.

The highlight of the holiday for us however were the evenings we spent in the Lobby Bar. We would like to say a huge thank you to Marko and Stavroula for the great drinks, super service and letting us choose our favourite music :) We hope we will see you again next year.

Be aware, that the photos is not from this hotel. This hotel is 3 stars hotel.
I was still very satisfied with this hotel, but it is not what is on pictures and what they claim to be.
There is just 1 bufet/canteen and you can eat there just in clothes and you can not take any fruits or cake with you outside.
Next to pools there is just 1 open bar with coctails and ice cream. Nothing more. If you are hungry, you need to put some clothes on you and go inside to canteen.
But on the other side, hotel is very clean, stuuf is very very helpful and polite. They prepare show for guests every second evening.
It is also very quiet and friendly place to stay.

Regarding beach, I don't recommend it for family with small childrens. There are big roks and big waves in the sea. Very dangerous for non-swimmers.

We had a great time at the hotel! The hotel design was beautiful, our room was renovated, AC worked well. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The bar had a good variety for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Bartender Cristos was always really positive and made the best drinks! Food was really good and fresh, but if we stayed more than a week, we would like to have a bigger diversity. Waiter Ioannis was always very professional and on the top of his game, thank you!

Also, we were always able to find some free chairs on the beach. The beach is rocky so we bought swimming shoes in the hotel shop. Hotel shop was lovely and not too overpriced, which was nice, in the shop we bought bus tickets to the Rethymno (~1,50 euro one way).

Hotel animation was great! Animator Emiliyan was always so positive, with a lot of energy and made us smile every time when we saw him. Beach volleyball was really fun and we met some amazing people there. We also participated in aqua gym, and it was so much fun with the large speaker! People after the aqua gym stayed and danced in the pool for a while.

We were traveling as a couple and we really enjoyed that at the hotel there weren’t a lot of children so it was possible to relax. We will definitely return to this hotel!

Pluses -
good location not too far from the city if you want to go
one evening
nice view from balcony (sea view room)
large and nice swimming pool
nice beach bar
nice lobby bar
little bit stony beach but nice, enjoyed the waves
friendly and welcoming bar staff

Minuses -
very rude management in the restaurant, especially the
lady manager who looks miserable, never smile, is rude
everyday to the guests who are going for a buffet (not a
michelin star restaurant) and I quote "doesn't remember our
faces because she sees hundreds of people everyday" while
we were here for 9 nights already. Management in hospitality,
especially for so called 5 stars should actually be about the
guests.
all inclusive spirits very cheap and poor quality
cocktails so sweet that impossible to drink
sunbeds already reserved in very early morning, don't even
try to find the sunbed free at 8am

Hotel is advertised as 5 Star.
1st night we had 2 power cuts. Backup generator kicked in and because rooms are not soundproofed, you could hear the loud drone.
Although rooms we're refurbished apparently, the hotel is very dated- 80s at best.
There is only one tiny bar in the foyer.
The dining area, is something like Fawlty Towers. All the tables are crammed together in a tiny area, with table cloths.
The food was the worst part of hotel. The options made available were on two tiny trolleys, and that was it. Food was either cold, luke warm or burnt.
The wine was left on tables in bottles- 11%, which tasted like dish water.
Most of the guests were pensioners, so not great for families.
The staff at the reception were rude and unhelpful.
We asked if there was any chance of some refund if we left, because we could not stay there 1 more night- it was so depressing.
Even though they were not prepared to offer some compensation, I forfeited a full weeks holiday payment , more than £2000, to go elsewhere.
We moved further up the coast to the Iberostar which is better.

This Hotel, needs to be downgraded to 3 Star, so other families do not get misled, and waste hard earned money.

Dear Peter S, We have read your review and would also like to answer in the points that you mention. I would like to begin with the power cuts the first night, it's something very common here in Greece and for this problem, we have an electric generator which when it starts makes a little noise. Everyone has their own opinion on what is modern and what is not.Of course our hotel is not very dated as you say. We have two bars in our hotel and concerning the main restaurant, it is not at all as you have it mentioned. We have both for lunch and dinner, a very wide range of salads, cold dishes, hot dishes, Cretan corner, show cooking, fruits, cakes and ice cream. Regarding the age of our customers, everyone has the right to go on vacation!!! Next time choose a club and not a hotel! Reception staff are there to help with any guest requests and are not rude or unhelpful as you said. I remember you said it's not our fault. That it was you who was waiting for something else! Finally, don't forget that we gave you the money back for the rest of the stay. Christina Gialitaki Reception/PR

From the moment I arrived, everyone was so helpful and friendly, and it was clear the hotel is very well maintained, it’s spotlessly clean, beautiful and a perfect beach spot, it also isn’t far on the bus to the town and the bus was very cheap.

Being alone can sometimes be nerve racking however the team at Rethymno Palace made me feel at home and made lots of effort to chat to me. Particular thank you to The Bartenders Marco and Charlie for taking the time to get to know me and keep me company during my visit! They also made fantastic cocktails, anything you want :)

The food was lovely with a varied selection and the cakes were out of this world!! All of the staff from the reception to the dining couldn’t do enough to help you, and Maria and George downstairs made me feel like family.

I had an amazing holiday, recharged my batteries and saw some beautiful sites and met some wonderful people. Thank you Rethymno Palace x

Hello, They are provided, but you need to leave a deposit of 10 Euros per towel. You can exchange the used towels for new ones every day at the spa, and you will receive back your deposit once you will return the towels and would not need them anymore. Hope this helps. Sincerely, George
