The hotel was really beautiful and decorated very well (they even changed decorations on a daily manner in the outside restaurant area).

We chose a superior room with a sea view and it was just like in the pictures. Room service was good.

The food was good and quite varied. The only downside is that for breakfast they didn't offer any safe drink option for me (e.g. coffee, sage water, cucumber water, mint water - I don't like any of this; grapefruit juice - many people can't drink this because of medicine they take and there were many elderly people there). Only on the last day of our stay I found tea, so I believe it should be better advertised. Perhaps it would be good idea if some safer drinks were introduced, like apple juice.

The staff was incredibly polite, we felt very welcome.

The beach was well organized, although I was not a fan of paying 5€ for sunbeds every time we wanted to chill on the beach. Even the pool sunbeds required a payment. I believe hotel sunbeds should be free of charge or at least cheaper.

One warning: if you love sandy beaches and can't stand gravel and rocks and you plan on spending most of your time on the hotel beach and sea, do not choose this hotel. I was only able to try going into the water once because of all the dangerous rocks, it's easy to hurt yourself or even just be in pain. We spent our holidays mostly actively and outside, exploring the beauty of Crete, but if you only want to chill, it's risky.

Otherwise we loved our stay in Golden Beach hotel :)

Just got back after our 1st holiday for over 2 years first thing (if your booking with TUI BEWARE) After 45min delay 4 hr flight then having to wait on a bus 1hr 10mins for other flights to arrive then 90min transfer. But that's TUI not the hotel. So we arrive knackered just wanting a few drinks shower food bed. We got told that our Seaview room we booked last Oct wasn't available until 5 days into our 2 week holiday, this seems common practice here tbh we heard 4 other parties having the same problem ,Not happy. After arguing the facts we had no choice but to relent to a room overlooking a field /dump with barking dog and staff walkway right under our balcony, so at staff change time we were woken by the staff leaving/arriving and the dog. Now the good stuff. the hotel is very clean(brilliant covid measures) , food is good and the staff amazing. Round the bar we had the fantastic gorgeous George as our wife's had named him along with the girls who are also gorgeous and brilliant with your drinks which are a reasonable price, sorry I've forgot their names. On the reception I mainly delt with Kiki, she has a very hard job keeping all the rooms etc sorted my main person who sorted our room problem out and I thank here for that, and her lovely little friend again not good with names. Great two little pools sunbeds must be paid for 5 euros a day for two a table and a umbrella with 2 bottles if water. The beach is sand until you go in the water then shale and pebbles with rocks in between, sea shoes are recommended. The main customers here seem to be German not that's that's a problem for me, as they're well behaved and mainly polite. Would I return Yes most definitely but I would e mail them just before I went to confirm if you upgrade your room. Few other little moans , very little uk TV in the rooms, WiFi is pants around the pool and on the beach and in our premium room.

P. S if you fancy a change Mr Gyros best food ever.

Exceeded my expectations, highly recommend.
Lovely hotel, very pleasant, courteous staff, excellent quality food and super clean hotel. Although a large hotel, it had the feel of a family run, friendly place.
We booked this as a mid price half board break in the sun and the holiday didn’t disappoint.
The hotel is a great location right on the beach and a short 4.5k local bus ride from the pretty Venetian harbour at Rethymno with the bus stop right outside the hotel (€3 return).
Lots of local car hire places right outside the hotel. We hired a car for a couple of days and enjoyed our excursions to Knossos, and Water City Waterpark outside Heraklion and a day at stunning Palm forest and beach at Preveli, a short 40 minute car ride away.
Lots of water sports right on the beach to keep my teenager (and us) amused… jet ski, waterski, wakeboard, parasailing, sup’s.. a great fun holiday.
Our first few days the waves were very strong on the whole stretch of beach on the north of the island and swimming wasn’t allowed which was a surprise, luckily the hotel has two lovely pools to cool off in, and lots to do locally so it didn’t detract from the holiday.

Highly recommend.

When we woke on our first day and opened our balcony, wow the view was breath taking. Myself and husband had a ground floor apartment along with my in laws who had the room next door with sea views. The rooms we were allocated were right next to the restaurant, and small pool. Breakfast was brilliant, so much choice of food, freshly cooked scrambled eggs, pancakes and a wide range of pastries. Evening meals were just as good, with a wide range of choice. We could not fault the food at all.

The beach was a minute walk from our room, with plenty of sun loungers. It cost 5 euros for two sun beds, an umbrella, chair and table. There was also a young girl who came around to take orders for food and drinks while you relaxed on the beach, perfect. The beach was quiet pebbly and we took beach shoes, but the beach was absolutely beautiful. We also took a dip in the pool which was so warm and most days it was empty, so it felt like our own private pool.

The wait on staff were helpful and friendly especially Philli she was wonderful and George the barman. Rooms were cleaned every day, spotless, thank you. We eat in the hotel for lunch on some afternoons very reasonably priced and delicious.

Plenty of bars and supermarkets within a short walk. I could go on and on about this beautiful hotel. I had my 50th birthday here and I couldn't' think of anywhere else I would rather have been. The reception staff were very good as we had to print out a lot of forms on our return to the UK and they were so helpful to.

Thank you all very much and we will defiantly return very soon.

Lovely welcome ( we arrived late at about 9pm ) They had put us up a plate of food ( it was ok ) Our room was over looking the front of the hotel and was very small for the 3 if us sharing ? Maid service daily. Some of the other holiday makers had rooms near the restaurant which caused them lots of noise in the morning. Pool area beautiful but like others have said only a few sun loungers so yes you do have to get up early for towel duty ? And a cost of 3 50 euros each day It didn't cause us a problem as if none free the beach is so close you just have a lounger there and walk back. Beach isn't child friendly as big boulders in the sea again didn't bother us as we
were an adult only party. Shops and other restaurants within walking distance with the normal souvenir shops etc. We booked 2 excursion s from the travel shop opposite the hotel quite cheap at 20 euros each. Food at the hotel ok. Quite normal for a 3 star, chicken, veg, spaghetti, chips etc. Do get a table first then someone will hopefully take your drinks order( sometimes there could be a wait ) All drinks are extra in the evenings( at breakfast there is tea, coffee, juices) Evening entertainment hit and miss. Greek dances good. Disco night good. Turtle presentation good but not as an evening of entertainment? Take cards ! Overall a lovely hotel full of beautiful flowers and surroundings kept clean and tidy. I would return.

We have just returned from our second wonderful holiday at this fabulous, quirky hotel. The decor is amazing and changes in the main outdoor dining / entertainment area around three times a week to enhance the venue.
We felt that the food had improved on last year, with many more Greek dishes on offer and kept topped up right until close of service.
The hotels greatest asset is its staff - Nico running the beach bar and sunbeds assisted by the amazingly cheerful Maria, Chrysi busily taking drinks orders and sorting tables, Nikos, always upbeat.
The prices for food and drinks in the hotel, we felt, were very reasonable as was the Euro 7 sunbed set charge.
Our standard garden rooms were large and gave us a side sea view.
We hope to return twice next year as the Hotel's location, right on the beach which is reached through a wild flower garden, is hard to beat.

Good and bad points at this hotel first impression outside of hotel, clean, nice gardens and welcoming..Inside however was a totally different story! I’ve never met such a rude receptionist, plus I’ve never known a hotel to refuse help with the luggage or provide beach towels.. We were told to go view our room and if we didn’t like it we could upgrade for 38 euro per night, each new customer was told the same thing which rang alarm bells. The room was atrocious, it was like a cell underground looking out onto a brick wall, obviously no one wanted such a room. We were shown to another room which was slightly better but not worth the 38 euro etc., per night, plus the Air Conditioning didn’t work, back to the rude receptionist who told us it did work and we must be doing it wrong! By this time I was getting fed up, hot and tired, I argued that it didn’t work, she sent someone to ‘show us how to use it’ !! Surprise, it didn’t work. I will give her her due, she did apologise and upgraded us without charge. Next we met the charming tui rep, this woman should of retired ages ago, all she did whilst there was sit at the bar with coffee and smoking her cigarettes. When we asked when the welcoming meeting would be she informed us it’s not done for the English only the Germans , when I queried this she became quite agitated and started shouting that the English never turned up anyway!? We had to walk away from her as she was becoming quite irate, however she followed us still shouting, my Husband had to tell her to ‘go away’ as she was embarrassing herself, she then threw all her paperwork on the floor and actually stamped her feet shouting ‘I’m good at my job’...needless to say we didn’t approach her again, but she could often be heard in the background screaming the same thing!?
The next negative was the cleaners, we actually wrote ‘clean me’ on the windows at the beginning of the holiday, it was cleaned off on the last day. The toilet really smelt, when we spoke to her about it she told us that’s what all Greek toilets smelt like.
On a positive note, the food was delicious, the restaurant staff were cheerful, helpful and polite, as were the bar staff. The hotel beach was very good, but be prepared to pay for sun beds not only on the beach but around the pool, 5 euro per day.

Just had a week at this lovely three star hotel. Exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated daily with fresh flowers everywhere. Time of year meant not too overcrowded but mainly visited by Germans which did make us feel slightly ignored by some staff. A very warm welcome by Lillie in reception and always pleasant and helpful to us. Steffan, the young barman was fab and perfect at his job. Food was typically Greek but suited all tastes. Ate out a few times but all in all expensive to what costs were pre covid. Taxi to Rethmyno harbour was 11 euros each way. Only visited once. Very expensive with two drinks 16 euros and a one course meal with a drink each came to 59 euros. ( chicken paella and pork chop with chips). The biggest gripe was the fact that we were charged 5 euros daily to use the sun beds and umbrella at the hotel poolside. Never had to pay for these at any hotel we have previously visited. Expected to pay this on the close by beach. Beach was shingle with large rocks hidden in the water. Only able to swim one day in the week’s stay as red flag flying due to roughness of the sea. This was disappointing as I usually love the water so if you do as well then not the beach for you.
Room 112 was small but ample for the weeks’ use. Lovely sea view but sun didn’t shine on any of the sea facing rooms at all. Fridge in room. No tea or coffee facilities but I was given a small kettle on request with paper cups.
One other gripe was the fact that only a news channel was available in English on the TV. All Greek or German channels. Some may say you don’t go on holiday to watch TV, but we don’t like going out every night and occasionally enjoy watching a movie after a day out and relax this way. This needs reviewing to at least having a movie channel.
All in all a lovely break in a well run family hotel. Would we return, No, only because we always choose somewhere different. Some couples have been returning there for over 20 years so clearly the hotel suits a lot of people who do like to return to the same place.

Just had two weeks at this hotel.
The hotel rooms and areas are well maintaned and cleaned daily. The staff were friendly and polite.
The Food is buffet style meals which is more suited to european visitors.
The beach front was clean and again staff were friendly and polite.
The beach is a shingle beach with large rocks hidden as you go in the water, These were a good area for snorkeling with a few varieties of fish around them.

We visited the area for a family wedding in another hotel locally.
We visited the main town area on a few occasions using both taxi ( 22euros) and the local bus service (1.5 euros each).
There was an open air market for fruit, veg and clothes on a thursday in the main town.
The prices varied for food and drink in the main town as it does normally in holiday areas.
There is a Fantastic Taverna near the golden Beach called the White lady we ate at this family run restuarant.

There was ten of us at this hotel and would all stay at this hotel again.

Just arrived back from 7 days at this fabulous hotel. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. We arrived after midnight and not eaten, young barman informed us that food had been saved for us. Such a lovely young man.

Our room was perfect, good aircon and extremely clean and tidy. Theres a mini fridge and safe. Our balcony was not quit sea view but we were glad as it was more private.

The restaurant was very good, there was always a really good choice. Breakfast there was plenty. Lovely breads, cooked breakfast and fresh fruits. Plenty of hot or cold drinks.

Fresh salads, vegetables and a mix of meats, fish and vegetarian dishes. Plus a really good choice of cheese and desserts.

The hotel has 3 pools, a childs and 2 larger pools. Which are lovely to cool of in. There are sun loungers which are €5 for 2 for the day with 2 bottles of ice cold water.

There are loungers on the beach too, for the same price and water. There's a beach bar too.

The hotel do provide entertainment some nights of the week which are really good. Disco, belly dancing and traditional Greek music. Really enjoyable.

The staff work so hard but are always happy. We had the best hoilday ever and so looking forward to going back.

Thank you Gloden Beach Hotel
