We have just returned from a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff are charming, the hotel is clean, breakfast is delicious and the pool is lovely BUT it is in between 2 quite busy roads so it’s relatively noisy. If I could pick it up and put it somewhere away from the main drag and the horrors of endless average bars and restaurants, I would. We didn’t like the music by the pool. Most people have iPhones, etc and listen to their own music so the repetitive bar music is quite irritating. Sadly there is nothing that can be done about the position of the hotel so upon recommendation of the lovely staff and asking them where they personally go, we took our car to the southern side of the province to much quieter and cleaner beaches and with a beautiful drive every day, we were very happy. If you don’t have a car and don’t mind taking the bus or just walking across the road to the beach that is fine but it’s one very long strip with endless hotels....not for us. The best restaurant we discovered - 15 mins walk is called Finikas Taverna, delicious food and lovely staff and just off the main drag so much quieter area but with a good atmosphere. We sadly never managed to get to Zisis - ask the staff, locals go to eat there regularly and again a 15 mins walk. WiFi drops out in the rooms which can be a bit irritating if you have work to do, but not the end of the world - you are on holiday after all! We ate at the main hotel a few times, fine but soulless- friendly staff but just felt like one huge catering exercise which is basically what it is. Don’t bother with half board. It’s very cheap to eat out.…
We stayed for a week at Villa Oliva, a wonderful boutique style hotel. What a find! We arrived in the middle of the night to be met with the friendliest of greetings. We were shown to our room and our luggage was delivered to our door, quickly followed by a surprise but welcome platter of sandwiches and bowls of greek yogurt. Our stylish and tastefully decorated room was spacious with a large and very comfortable double bed. The room also had a small kitchenette area with a fridge which was very useful. We did have a sea view from our room but that also meant it overlooked the road at the front, however since we do not spend time on the balcony this was not an issue for us. If you prefer to sit out on your balcony then suggest you ask for a room overlooking the garden. The continental breakfast was served to your table on the terrace, it was always good quality and plentiful and you could also ask for eggs cooked to order too. The pool area was always very clean and there were plenty of bed to go around, in fact, most afternoons we were the only people there! We used the free shuttle bus service a few times to go to the sister hotel, the Grecotel Creta Palace, where we were able to use the free sunbeds and towels on the beach. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants in either direction within easy walking distance. And you must try the little bakery which is almost next door, where they sell the most delicious ice creams and pastries. Finally, we have to mention the road noise. Yes, there are roads to the front and rear of the property, and yes you can hear some traffic noise, but when we visited in June this was not a problem. During the day the piped music around the pool meant you barely noticed any traffic noise. It certainly didn't spoil our holiday. By far the best thing about Villa Oliva is the staff. They are all very helpful and attentive and give such professional and friendly service. Special mention goes to Lucia, who was always very thoughtful and friendly and happy to give us lots of tips and advice to help plan our days during our stay. We arrived at Villa Oliva as strangers and left feeling like old friends.…
We spent 6 days at Villa Oliva and everything was perfect !! The staff is very kind and careful. The rooms are very clean and the swimming pool area is just so peaceful. We had a really great moment here and we’ll be back with pleasure ! Thank you for everything
There are only around 30 rooms and the hotel has only been open a year. The staff are lovely and, being small, know who you are and welcome you warmly. My niece is a vegetarian and, because we were arriving late, they had placed wraps in the fridge so she had something to eat when we arrived. Very thoughtful. There is a shuttle bus service to their sister, and much larger, hotel. But we only took this once as it's a pleasant walk along the beach.
We booked a little autumn break through Secret Escapes and stayed at Villa Oliva for a week, what a lovely stay. Wonderful warm welcome from Manos (the ginger drink was very refreshing for me as I suffer with travel sickness), fantastic breakfast and great service from all the team. The pool area is peaceful and our room was spacious and light. The little bakery two doors down do amazing ice cream (try the Greek yoghurt ice cream). Thank you for a lovely stay.
