Porta del mar is a small family-run resort of 8 stone villas for summer holidays with direct access to a sandy beach. Amazing sea views obtained from the gardens and inside the villas! The villas are self-catering and accommodate from 2-6 persons (one or two bedroom villas). They all form a horse shoe design, facing towards the sea and are traditionally and nicely decorated. They have spacious living rooms, large bedrooms with queen-size beds or twin single beds, all with solid, wooden ceilings and air-condition. Fully equipped kitchens include cooker, big fridge/freezer, wooden table that seats 4-6 and a full range of utensils. Their verandas are spacious and offer panoramic sea views. The villas are situated directly on our sandy, quiet beach and are surrounded by well kept and relaxing gardens. The beach is safe for children and the waters are clear, crystal and rather shallow. Everything you need is within short walking distance from the villa (groceries, bakery, taverns).

From the outset, I knew we would be in capable hands when I booked our accommodation at Porta del Mar directly with Tasos - the owner. His replies to my multiple emails were always swift, thorough and above all friendly, and set the scene for the exceptionally warm welcome we received upon arrival. We were on a multi-generation family holiday, and our experience at Porta del Mar ticked every box for us all. We particularly enjoyed the brand new infinity pool and kids pool, the beach on the doorstep, free access to the kayaks, the hammock and swing seats dotted around the place, and the amazing views – I would start my days watching the sun rise from our balcony, and end them watching the sunset from the restaurant. As for the food, I genuinely could not pick my favourite dish from the restaurant menu – everything we ate was sooo good, as were the Greek wines. The service provided by Anna, Ava, Mirtu and Kostas was so warm. We especially appreciated Mirtu’s recommendations from the wine list, and Anna’s kindness and flexibility when our son was in a particularly fussy mood one evening. The place has a lovely cosy feel, yet there is a good variety of terraces and hidden spots to relax in, so it is really easy to escape from it all and enjoy the views and sunshine in peace. It is very picturesque: the villas, gardens, views and even the food are very ‘instagram-able’! We also found it well maintained and clean. Above all, what shone through at Porta del Mar was the team there and we cannot thank Tasos, family and staff enough for our 9 carefree days in paradise! Overall this is the perfect place for a genuinely relaxing holiday.

The accommodation was spacious and clean. The view from the facility to the sea was indescribably beautiful. We would like to emphasize the boat trip with Tasos. He was an ideal captain! We also want to mention the new wine cellar with a great variety of wines. We enjoyed the time in Porta del Mar very much. The crew was very helpful, courteous and always in a good mood.

Last September we had the most incredible holiday at the Porta del Mar Villas - a sanctuary, well away from the world where you can relax completely with sun, sea, homemade cuisine ... best moussaka ever. This year was even better, we felt truly at home, amongst friends. Tasos and his family are the definition of hospitality. The villas are beautifully configured, every comfort imaginable. A terrace for sun in the morning, another for the afternoon. We have been home for less than a week, but still remember picking fresh figs off the tree, the smell of wild herbs after light rain, and Tapa the dog. Thank you. Recommend Porta del Mar 100%.

We were looking for a villa to stay in that was quiet and relaxing away from big crowds. We also wanted the flexibility to eat out and explore the island and local restaurants. Finally we wanted a nice beach. Porta Del Mar has all of this and surpassed our expectations. This is definitely one of the best places I have ever stayed. The friendliness of the family run resort, alongside the spectacular setting, relaxed atmosphere, freedom to eat there or out and finally the amazing views sets this resort apart. The beach is great and Porta Del Mar has a really great set of decks leading to the beach which are perfect for relaxing. To me it is the perfect balance of a resort/private villa - small and well serviced. Can't write enough positive comments about Porta Del Mar. Highly recommended and I hope to return. Thank you very much to the staff for providing us the perfect holiday.
