Mare Dei Suites Hotel is located in the beautiful Southern region of Peloponnese near the village of Skafidia and town of Pyrgos in the Elis region. The hotel has an eye-catching setting of nature offering a panorama of the Ionian Sea, the sea of the ancient Greek Gods, a fact to which it owes its name. The hotel overlooks a magical little bay while harmonically resting on a naturally green hillside. On the golden sandy beach our guests will come across by natural springs and beautiful rock formations as well as natural argyle. Most of our rooms enjoy unimpeded views of the daily journey of the Sun and the Moon until they disappear into the deep waters of the Ionian Sea. All that while listening to the soothing sound of the soft waves and the salty breeze touching the skin.In Mare Dei Suites Hotel each spot will give you the feeling of relaxation and quietness. A golden beach with your private sunbed, our beautiful swimming pools, the pool bar, the well-cared garden with herbs and flowers, our Traditional Mediterranean restaurant, our Spa Center and a conference room which can be transformed to one’s needs.

The 1 night stay is a great recharge in the midst of the holiday. Such a beautiful place with impeccable view of the ocean and the sunset. Service is great too. Staff are all attentive. Most importantly I love how the place is dorn with edible greenery i.e. herbs and fruit trees.

This is an outstanding hotel that offers a unique experience. Modern, spacious, clean rooms with beautiful views of the Ionian Sea from the huge balconies (and yes, I mean EVERY room has an "ocean" view, except this is a sea, not an ocean); absolutely gorgeous sunsets (see my photos); fully working air conditioning for those extra-hot days; a beautiful beach that is basically private and almost at your doorstep (less than a minute walking from most rooms); and excellent food in the very nice restaurant. And all of that for very reasonable prices. This is really a jewel on the Ionian; hurry up and experience it while it's still hidden from mainstream tourism!

Mare Dei is built on a gently sloping cliff of the Peloponnesian Ionian Sea coast, facing the island of Zakynthos and overlooking an idyllic small shallow bay with a fine sandy beach equipped with parasols and recliners. The spacious junior suite we chose was well furnished, with a large terrace with comfortable furniture and chaises-longue from where there is a splendid panoramic sea view towards Zakynthos and dramatic sunsets in the evening. There are comfortable shady sitting areas during the day, a nice swimming pool and a well-designed dining room on the main terrace overlooking the bay. The grounds are well looked after and the greenery makes a nice contrast with the blue of the sea and sky. The beauty of this hotel is its perfect secluded location. The staff were friendly and polite and responded immediately to any request. The ladies at Reception were knowledgeable and elegant in their manners. Housekeeping was very good. Some points need to be addressed however: The Maître d’ was not at all at the expected level of a four-star hotel. Manners were poor, no flexibility, no sense of humour, no imagination. Not attentive to customers during the meal. The quality of food was poor, lacking finesse and the size of the servings was mingy. Pasta with scampi, 3 scampi in our plate. Tuna salad, had to search for the tuna. Caesar salad, there were more croutons than chicken. The hotel gave an impression of stinginess, i.e. small water bottles provided in the rooms only on arrival. Nothing in the room fridge apart from the 2 mini bottles of water on arrival. No biscuits offered with an espresso or other coffee or water as is the tradition everywhere else in Greece. No water brought to the customers when arriving at the pool or beach sun beds as is the custom in all other 4-star hotels we have visited. Cappuccino or espresso not offered during breakfast but charged. The espresso from the automatic machine was poor to say the least. With an aperitif the only thing served were olives. Another negative point: there is no porter to carry the luggage to the bedrooms; the ladies at Reception were expected to offer this service. We refused and asked for a man’s assistance. The narrow track leading to the hotel is in a very bad state. Bad bumps all along. The road signs showing the direction to the hotel were badly designed; a tiny arrow left or right at the bottom was difficult to see and sometimes hidden behind overgrown hedges. Hotel parking space is unacceptable for a four-star hotel; a small field, no shade, no lights when you return at night. Rubbish collection: rubbish containers, just outside the hotel entrance, were overflowing on more than one occasion. Not a nice sight and shows neglect. There are strange attempts at decoration here and there using untreated lengths of wood which really don’t add anything to the otherwise pleasing design of the hotel, on the contrary. The same can be said of the light fittings in the dining room. Handicapped or elderly guests beware, there are many steps and no lift. No ramps, no facilities available. If the above were taken care of Mare Dei is a very special hotel to spend an extremely relaxing comfortable holiday.

The hotel was preety clean and the service was good. The most amazing is that the view from there is amazing.A person sitting on his hotel room's balcony can see the Ionian see and far in the distance the islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia. The only 2 frustrating things about the hotel were that the restaurant does nearly 1/2 of an hour to prepare your meal and the hotel is quite far away from the main national road. You need to drive in a preety bad road and in some places even dangerous made out of dirt path to reach the hotel. It is fantastic for vacation with little children. The sea by the hotel is one of the cleanest i have ever seen together with the well-organised beach will make your summer vacation fantastic.Totally recommend it for a week of peace and tranquility. If you are interested in nearby sightseeings you can visit ancient olympia (the place from where the Olympic games come from) and the town of Pyrgos.
