Had a really nice stay here. The staff are amazing. Not sure about what I was eating but there was enough selection for me to find something I liked for dinner. As for breakfast it was typical with a twist so I also enjoyed that too. I didn't go in the pool as I don’t really like enclosed water but a lot of people did use it. The only issue I had was wth my room (222) it may be an angel number the hut lock was anything BUT angelic and was hard to open. They showed me how to do it but I would be there every time for 2-5 minutes trying to open it. I stayed for 4 nights and by my forth day I kind of got the hang of it but to be moved to another room would've been nice. Other than that it was great. The rooms aren't the best of the best but it's not an expensive hotel, you get what you pay for. On my last day they held my luggage for me and were extremely helpful and kind even giving me the bus list times etc. I would definitely stay here again as it's away from the city so quieter and the beach is not far, also that person of the beach is quieter too and as a solo traveller from london, quiet is the change I needed!

Me and my friend were here for one week and are very satisfied. The buffet was really Good, and you got to taste something new everyday. Cozy rooms, Good music by the pool, the localbus goes just outside the hotel on the Street. Close to the beach and supermarket. Friendly people in the reception, bar and restaurant. Good price. Overall we liked this hotel very much, and Would like to travel back in the Future!

4 out of 5 ???? Basics accommodation- you get what you paid for. Bedroom with bed , fridge & balcony- bathroom with water . Rent a car , explore beautiful country side , lovely beaches, mountains- that will make your holidays. Breakfast good enough to not be hungry- dinner with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers & tzatziki plus some hot things does the job. Why not 5 out of 5 - reception-no help at all: leak from the celling in the bathroom- not fixed after first night, next night request for extra towels to deal with flooded floor- been asked to come back in 10 minutes to get towels????? Should guest deal with it??? But overall- good, inexpensive accommodation to explore north Crete

My stay at the Gortyna Hotel was a real treat. The hotel team was extremely helpful......the room service staff always greeted me with a smile. My room was clean and my bed was very comfortable. I had a balcony which overlooked a green hanging area; the bird song from within was beautiful. There is a local, inexpensive, bus service to Rethymno town every half hour. This service runs from early morning well into the evening. A member of the reception team happily printed a timetable for me. Bus tickets can be purchased from the hotel reception or at the supermarket next door. The bus stop is less than 2 minutes from the hotel. When returning from Rethymno, I told the bus driver the name of my hotel and he stopped the bus outside the door!! Excellent service. A small stroll takes you to the beach. The hotel also has a well kept pool and sunbed area. My stay included breakfast and dinner. Both buffet style meals did not disappoint with plenty of choice for both vegetarians and non vegetarians . As a solo, female, traveller, I felt safe and did not have any security concerns. The price I paid for my stay was incredible. Well worth the money. It is without hesitation that I recommend this hotel to TripAdvisor readers.

I am not sure how to describe, i think the pictures will speak for themselves. You have to go through an horrible and scary/dangerous tunnel to access a very very small beach with stones If you dont wont to ruin your holidays just dont stay there. Shame at on onthebeach.com for selling this hotel ! They clearly havent seen the hotel !! Big H&S issues! Made a complaint but they never got back to me. Ps- all incl. Doesnt even include the water...

This was a lovely hotel with helpful, friendly staff. The rooms were very basic but the price included air conditioning, hairdryer and TV which had one English channel. The shower was lovely and warm. The rest of the hotel was lovely and the gardens too, eveything was clean. I thought the food was nice, not overly hot, but I enjoyed it, especially breakfast on the sun terrace. The pool was good too. I noticed that when people arrived late in the evening from the airport they were given food in the restaurant. The beach and beach bar/restaurant was along the lane and down a subway under the main road, a ten minute walk. This hotel was in a lovely quiet location with no more than a ten minute walk to bus stops to other towns and villages. We visited Rethmynon, a larger seaside resort. We also visited Panormo and Georgioupolis, both pretty little villages with harbours.

Not the best hotel we've stayed in on Crete but not the worst, and for the price it was ok. It was clean and the rooms although small were comfortable. The food wasn't fantastic to be honest, the hot food was warm at best but it was cooked and tasted good, just could've done with being a tad warmer. Due to it being the end of season there weren't many staff around, but those who were there were pleasant. We had initially booked for 15 nights half board, however after 5 nights due to the hotel being really quiet due to end of season, we were actually transferred to another hotel 10 minutes up the road and upgraded to all inclusive (BONUS!) which to be honest was a big improvement, but was probably a lot more expensive. In the grand scheme of things this hotel was ok as a base camp for what we wanted as we always hire a car and disappear for most of the day. Tips.. There's a nice bar if you turn right out of the hotel and walk under the subway, they do a mean GYROS!! Take mozzy spray !! I got eaten alive!!
