We've been to this hotel 5 times now over 7 years - we were disappointed to see it change to an Adult only - but myself and wife will go back as a couple in the coming years. The buffet food always had a great selection - the vegetarians in my family were just as happy with the food as the carnivores. I got ill one time and the staff were super helpful - although at the time, the doctor was an off-site in the next town nearby. Turned out I wasn't drinking enough water !! The sports were great and the animation each night was def something we would all look forward to - even the little walk to the stage area was a highlight Note : We would go August time each year - watch out for hidden currents in the sea

We were here for 4 nights 5 days and we booked Creta Royal Hotel Adult only. We saw it was next to Creta Star Hotel also adult only. Due to our booking with royal we got the message everybody who booked a room in the royal would be put in creta star. First before we were booking we hesitated between the 2. We got a room upgrade with sea view in stead of mountain view. A nice extra but nowhere on their site or booking.com it was noted that creta royal was closed. We didn’t mind first but if you book royal ( 5 stars ) you should stay at royal or write down it is closed and specially make sure you can’t book it. The hotel itself is ok. Nice staff at reception and our room was good but from our terras the view wasn’t completly open. Some walls where in the way to have the perfect view. Due to corona it was very calm. So we got up around 8 and still had a lot of spaces for sunbeds. The pool was there but not very special. For once the sea was nicer to swim in and lay down on the sunbeds. The food was very good and a lot of choice. Then staff in restaurant was ok but at the pool bar they weren’t very friendly. We had 4 nights and they came cleaning once. Ok corona but 1 time in 4 days... This all looks bad what i said but we had a good stay and enjoyed our stay to. As couple who travel a lot we have to be honest and 3 on 5 is based on price, kindness and communication. We already did a lot of all-inns and Creta Star was not in our top 5. Maybe the royal was better but as i said we will never know... Also far away from everything but i will never complain about that cause if you book star or royal you know that. I must say if you enjoy doing nothing and relaxing is your thing it is a good hotel.

Dear shonnie007, Thank you for choosing our property for your vacation. The town of Rethymno is 12 km away. The bus runs every half hour until late at night and the bus stop is exactly in front of our hotel. In addition, the nearest small town is at a distance of 6 km, is named Platanias where guests have the opportunity to find discos, bars, many taverns and also shops of all kinds. Also, around our hotel and in a distance of 700m are located a few taverns, two bars and super markets. Heraklion is 65 km far. Thank you again for your visit. We will be glad to see you again among our guests, on your next visit to Crete. With our best regards, Guest Relations Department

We spent a wonderful week in Creta Star in July 2020, despite the pandemic limitations. The staff went out of their way to keep the guests safe, all wore masks and gloves (in the summer heat!), the cleaning personnel wore something reminiscent of medical PPE, the area was disinfected regularly. Guests mostly did not wear masks. It was less crowded obviously which is also nice, plenty of sunbeds available. The hotel next door - Creta Royal - was closed, but the area and sunbeds were available to Creta Star guests. The animation team offered a variety of activities and fun shows every night, spoke English, German and Russian. Among the current limitations: - Room cleaning is only once a week, you get to choose the day. - In the buffet you are served by the staff, but it is not a problem at all. - The pool is open but there is only one entry point. - The enclosed pool, billiards room are closed, the rest is open. Overall we felt very welcome and safe thanks to dedication of staff in these strange times. Thank you so much!

On arrival we checked in as a porter took our bags to our room which was very kind. Our room was clean and tidy with all working facilities. There was always plenty of choice when dining, I am a fussy eater and I always managed to find something delicious my favourite was their pizza which change toppings every meal. They had traditional foods for those more adventurous too. It was very easy to catch the bus into the old town, you just buy a ticket at the shop within the hotel then catch the bus just outside the premises. Evening entertainment was always fantastic from cultural dance to comedy and even fire eaters. The entertainers also put on activities throughout the whole day they were amazing very friendly and truly made the holiday. There is access to the sandy beach through the resort as it is right next door.

It’s taken me a while to review which is remiss of me. I think it’s a beautiful hotel with good service. The rooms aren’t anything special but I was delighted that the hotel gave us a room with a terrace when the operator gave us one with just a window. The food was good and I loved the sea front restaurant for the view. The access to the beach was sensational and nicer than the pool area. We loved the hotel but the entertainment was dire. I agree that there were very few English speakers there but this is not a negative for me.
