On arrival we checked in as a porter took our bags to our room which was very kind. Our room was clean and tidy with all working facilities. There was always plenty of choice when dining, I am a fussy eater and I always managed to find something delicious my favourite was their pizza which change toppings every meal. They had traditional foods for those more adventurous too. It was very easy to catch the bus into the old town, you just buy a ticket at the shop within the hotel then catch the bus just outside the premises. Evening entertainment was always fantastic from cultural dance to comedy and even fire eaters. The entertainers also put on activities throughout the whole day they were amazing very friendly and truly made the holiday. There is access to the sandy beach through the resort as it is right next door.

Dear Member aprilsL4714EC, Thank you for your praising comments was about our Creta Star Hotel 4* (adults only hotel). We take great pride in offering memorable experiences complete with top notch service from our colleagues and it is a pleasure to know that we achieve our goal. Also, the town of Rethymno is 12 km far; the bus runs every half an hour till late at night and the bus stop is exactly in front of our hotel. In addition, the closest small town is in a distance of 6 km is named Platanias and there the guests have the possibility to find discos, bar, shops of different kinds and also many taverns. Moreover, around our hotel and in a distance of 700m some taverns exist, two bars and super markets. We look forward to welcoming you again and until then we wish you ... happy memories of your stay with us. With our best regards, Guest Relations Department

It’s taken me a while to review which is remiss of me. I think it’s a beautiful hotel with good service. The rooms aren’t anything special but I was delighted that the hotel gave us a room with a terrace when the operator gave us one with just a window. The food was good and I loved the sea front restaurant for the view. The access to the beach was sensational and nicer than the pool area. We loved the hotel but the entertainment was dire. I agree that there were very few English speakers there but this is not a negative for me.

Magnificent hotel, the hall directly announces the color to you.
A porter will accompany you to your room.
Our room (garden view) overlooks a path passing less than 20 meters away.. not necessarily nice for relaxing outside in view of passers-by but its interior is very nice, very large and very comfortable bed, TV with 3 French channels, bathroom with bathtub and daily cleaning service with sometimes nice surprises from the cleaning ladies.
The setting is exceptional, the sea is at the foot of the hotel with deckchairs and towels provided by the hotel, possible to change them every day for free.
The buffet is very varied, we were lucky to have a theme or a country represented every day, always with a place with Greek specificities.
The hotel team is very warm, the language barrier is quite complicated at first but we had no problem making ourselves understood despite the very rare presence of French.
(very Germanic destination)
For the all exclusive service you will get what you pay for... beer/wine/strong alcohol, soft drinks, etc. everything is available until midnight.
The hotel's entertainment is super nice, you can go from pétanque to archery to volleyball etc. throughout the day without ever disturbing those who just want to sunbathe.
The entertainment team is simply exceptional!!
They exude the joy of living and will make you laugh every evening during their show.
Apart from the nearby hotel there is nothing, you will have to take the taxi or bus… 1.6€ for the bus to Rethymnon, 20min.
We really enjoyed this trip to Crete in this hotel..

We were here for 4 nights 5 days and we booked Creta Royal Hotel Adult only. We saw it was next to Creta Star Hotel also adult only. Due to our booking with royal we got the message everybody who booked a room in the royal would be put in creta star. First before we were booking we hesitated between the 2. We got a room upgrade with sea view in stead of mountain view. A nice extra but nowhere on their site or booking.com it was noted that creta royal was closed. We didn’t mind first but if you book royal ( 5 stars ) you should stay at royal or write down it is closed and specially make sure you can’t book it.
The hotel itself is ok. Nice staff at reception and our room was good but from our terras the view wasn’t completly open. Some walls where in the way to have the perfect view. Due to corona it was very calm. So we got up around 8 and still had a lot of spaces for sunbeds. The pool was there but not very special. For once the sea was nicer to swim in and lay down on the sunbeds. The food was very good and a lot of choice. Then staff in restaurant was ok but at the pool bar they weren’t very friendly. We had 4 nights and they came cleaning once. Ok corona but 1 time in 4 days...
This all looks bad what i said but we had a good stay and enjoyed our stay to. As couple who travel a lot we have to be honest and 3 on 5 is based on price, kindness and communication. We already did a lot of all-inns and Creta Star was not in our top 5. Maybe the royal was better but as i said we will never know...
Also far away from everything but i will never complain about that cause if you book star or royal you know that.
I must say if you enjoy doing nothing and relaxing is your thing it is a good hotel.

A great hotel with SUPER friendly staff in all the important places. Great international buffet, super well-maintained complex, modern hotel, great cocktails that are not adulterated, enough loungers by the sea and on the complex, you can always find a nice place to sunbathe, swim and relax.
Very friendly animation team with enough activities for those who like to be active. Totally unobtrusive but still with heart.
Great all-round service, very attentive staff in the restaurants.
There are even hotel cats that can be fed.
It's a shame that the red flag was flying at the sea on some days.....You couldn't always go into the sea because the waves were sometimes too strong and the lifeguards put up the red flag.
Sufficient showers and toilets on the beach.
A trip to Rethymno is definitely worth it, a single ticket for 1.60 euros can be bought directly in the well-equipped kiosk.
We found a nice car rental company directly opposite the hotel, where we rented a car for a day. Everything worked out without a problem. Here too, super friendly and reasonable prices, 63 euros for a VW Polo for 1 day was great. We were able to take it with us the evening before and park it in the hotel's own car park.
All in all, a very successful holiday that we would repeat.
A tip:
Offer a disco for guests every now and then in the evenings. That would be the icing on the cake for an otherwise fantastic hotel.
When booking, choose the sea side, which is on the north side, so you don't get as much sun in the room.

Brief summary: For the price a great hotel which is recommended. We even return on October 8th (Hello dear Creta Star, we will be back.).
Long version:
-Reception: Very nice reception in visually appealing lobby. Staff consistently friendly, communication in German and English possible without problems.
-Room/hotel: We unfortunately got an unrenovated room on the first visit now, which is below the average of what the hotel otherwise offers (therefore until the second visit "only" four stars). In winter 24/25, however, the rest is also to be renovated, a good measure. The cleaning staff was friendly throughout and did a good job. For the second visit we booked a junior suite, which should already be renovated. Otherwise a very nice hotel with cozy grounds and direct access to the sea.
-Food: Breakfast buffet and dinner buffet are a dream. Don't like the coffee at breakfast? Then after breakfast to the pool bar, the coffee there is really good. The desserts in the evening are also always a 5/5. Of particular note is the restaurant manager, who always has his dining room under control and remains super friendly in every location.
-Animation: Thanks also to the animation. Never intrusive, always in a good mood, the conversation on the last evening with an animator is still positive in our minds. Looking forward to seeing him again on October 8th.

Satisfied after a week of sun and swimming. The room is perfectly fine with comfortable beds and pillows. There is a fridge and good storage. Good service and friendly staff who do everything to make the guests comfortable. The food is also good, there is something to suit everyone. We had a balcony with a sea view but it wasn't that good. When you sat down, you couldn't see much through the three small windows that we had on our balcony. But when you stood up, it was a fantastic view.
Finding a place to sit around the pool or in the surrounding area was never a problem. A pool towel is included that you can change every day.
This with water and filling bottles that some write about, we can agree that it is a bit bad in an all-inclusive hotel. We fully understand the possible spread of infection, but it will still be circumstantial. It is perfectly fine to fill cups and then fill your bottle yourself. But the water in the vending machines didn't taste very good, so we bought water in the store that was in the area and filled our own bottles.

We stayed five days in August we had a new room and so it was very nice had everything you could wish for. My daughter and a friend of hers instead an unrenovated room away from the central body really a nightmare old furniture obsolete bathroom air conditioner directly on the bed then unusable bathtub with shower full of limestone in short a dry no.
Sea in the morning clean but in the afternoon full of seaweed really dirty shame. Pool that closes at 6pm but why? With water that had a strong smell of alcohol.
Restaurant:
Breakfast with the machines the milk is a soup of dirty water I asked for hot milk and I had to ask ten waiters why they all sent me to the machine mah....
Repetitive buffet cold and hard eggs and bacon equals pancakes.
In the evening and at lunch the same things no big deal.
Confused reception staff speak only German. We asked for a lunch basket for a trip and they replied that they have not done it for ten years.
We will not return sin the potential is there but are not exploited

Hotel does not deserve 5 stars!
Old-fashioned room, worn furniture, shower covered in limestone, rusty water drain grate...
Good but repetitive meals, and few Cretan specialties.
Cocktails, soft drinks, wines, coffee, of poor quality, undrinkable.
Camping activities (darts, musical quiz, etc.), disappointing for a 5*.
Unheated indoor pool, outdoor pool closes at 6:30 p.m.
The only positive points are that the exterior is pretty and well maintained. The hotel has its private beach with direct access. The cats have their bowls of kibble and water available.
Bus stop in front of the hotel, but apart from 3 shops there is absolutely nothing around.
The staff is friendly, but not really smiling.
