Highly recommend this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We went in the first week of May and it was so peaceful! 50/50 on the weather, but when the sun shone it was such a gorgeous place! Beach is lovely and quiet at this time of year! Adults only experience was excellent, but the sister hotel was good too when we wanted a more lively atmosphere! Our room was brand new and very clean! They even surprised me on my birthday with a cake brought by room service, which was a wonderful surprise and made the day very special. Lovely little souvenir gift on check-out. Would highly recommend going in to the Old Town area of Rethymno - a £20 taxi ride away. Not much to do around the hotel, so perfect for a relaxing stay with a day or 2 out and about by taxi. Overall excellent experience (despite the weather at times) - would definitely stay again!

My husband and I, we spent the most amazing time at this hotel in July/August 2022. The location of this true 5* property is just at the long sandy beach with crystal clear sea. The hotel is placed in the middle of subtropical very well mainteined garden with breathtaking blooming plants all over. Rooms - very good size, modern, clean and providing a maximum comfort (air-condition, TV with channels in multiple languages, hairdryer, safe deposit box - at no extra charge, beach towels, bathroom toiletries etc.) All rooms have balconies as well as free wifi connection. There are two outdoor quite large pools with salt water, however as the hotel is literally at the beach the pools are never crowded by guests. Pools and surrounding areas provide plenty of sun beds with the umbrellas - again at no charge. You do not need to hurry up to get the sun beds, there are always available, regardless the time when you come to the pool or beach. Dining - either if you have half-board or all inclusive program, the foor and drinks are absolutely delicious and with a great assortment and variety of options. Whether you like fish, meat, vegetarian options or you have a sweeth tooth - you will be over the moon. Last but not least I would love to mention the hotel staff. Regardless juniority or seniority they are all very attentive, always ready to help or bring you a piece of heaven. You do not even need to ask, they know your wishes before you ever say them. I hope to be back again next summer!

I vacationed here for 2 weeks with my elderly aunt/uncle who are german (I am Canadian and in my 40s). I was a bit worried about the older, mostly german crowd here when i arrived, but once i got over my biases, i enjoyed the very quiet vibe of the hotel and the peacefulness it has to offer. I ended up playing volleyball twice a day with the guests in creta star (sister hotel right next to it - a bit of younger german crowd, thanks to the animator Nick), there are many daily activities and an evening entertainment show. The staff are vibrant, from all over Greece and an absolute delight, most of them speak 3 languages or more, and are very courteous and accommodating... from the reception staff who respond to all needs (gave me a quiet room by pool, were able to extend my stay).... the sparkling Ms. Irini, the luminous Ms. Tonia, the calm and wise Mr. Astinos, the elegant Ms. Elena, the very kind Mr Alex (working pool bar and reception area). Then, the dining staff were very attentive and work very, very hard from early morning shifts to late night dinner shifts, Mr. Dimitris from Florina, Mr. Vasilis from Volos, the delightful Ms.Labrini with a sparkle in her eye, and Mr. Nikos at Mistral who was always very generous... they made my stay absolutely lovely. They cater to all kinds of tourists with all kinds of requests and handle them with so much grace and patience!!! There are a ton of different food options in the buffet, all very good....the tomatoes in Crete are to die for (so good). The music at dinner time was a bit cheesy at times (traditional Greek or elevantor Greek music)... Thursdays are an outdoor barbecue night by the sunset (live band trio with live female singer) ... really, really lovely. I ended up doing 4 tours with Spiridon tours (who stop at the hotel for pickups eventhough it is a bit out of Rethymnon and in an area called Skaleta, Samaria gorge, Elafonisi/Balos/Gramvousa, Loutro, Matala/Spili/Arkadi). We also ended up renting a car and going to Margaritas village and Rethymnon and Chania, which was a great change from the chill vibe of the hotel. There is a basic shop in Creta star where one can buy little gifts, books (mostly german, a few in english), sunglasses, snorkelling gear etc. The hotel has a great access to the sea with lifeguards, and 2 saltwater pools (one smaller, one bigger- not great for laps, but good for cold dip). Would recommend this for those looking for a quiet, adults only stay... but would ensure to book some day trips with Spiridon to mix it up a bit from the beach time. ευχαριστώ to the lovely cretans and greek people!!!

This is a real 5 star hotel, all taken care of by a friendly and helpful staff! Nice saltwater pool in front, and in the backyard, free sunbeds all over the place. We had a room with beatiful seaweiw and sunset in the evening, what more do you need for your vacation?! Of course you need food now and then, breakfast and dinner included, and lunch at the beach taverna was our choice. Good food all week, although some more greek courses could have been on the evening menu. Local bus every half hour to Rethymno just outside the hotel was perfect when we needed a break from the relaxing life at Creta Royal.

It was our first visit to Crete. It's great, so that's a good start. Our flight was delayed by 2 hours, so we arrived in the early hours, not so great. Then it just gets better and better. The hotel is 5 star, so a degree of comfort has to be taken for granted, but oftentimes, very little can separate a 4 and 5 star hotel. But here's the thing, the staff are amazing. I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed an hotel stay more than this one. The employees are a credit to Greece, a credit to their employers and most especially a credit to themselves. In short, we had a very good time, doing very, very little. Try it .

Very nice and beautiful hotel. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast and dinner buffet is so delicious......beach ist so beautiful.... 2 small things, I hope can improve. 1. The two swimming pool is closed too early. One is until 18 o'clock, one is until 19 o'clock. As you know going to creta, people always want to more sight seeing...so after sight seeing, come back hotel, swimming pool is closed...if swimming pool can open until 22 o'clock. That is much better. 2. 5 star hotel, but only 2 glasses in room...there are no glasses for drinking water....🤪🤪🤪 But anyway, it is very good hotel 👍👍👍👍

There's a lot we could say about the four hours we stayed in the Creta Royal before having to make an emergancy booking at another hotel nearby. But put simply: Do not book if you want luxury. The rooms are dated and dark - clearly there's been no love given to them since the 90's. Everyone spoke German to us, despite us saying we spoke English. The food was not fresh. Our room had live electrical wires dangling above the shower. The whole hotel needs a makeover to bring it in line with basic modern standards. Put simply - this hotel fell so far below our expectations and acted a stark reminder that five stars doesn't always means luxury. Avoid.

Dear amyrose198, Thank you for choosing our Creta Royal Hotel for your vacation. Creta Royal Hotel remains closed for the season 2020. Your experience was in 2019!! We would like to inform you that this winter, like all previous years, renovation projects have taken place. We have totally renovated a number of bathrooms. Also, we would like to mention that our hotel is multinational. Each week, the percentages of all nationalities are different, but first come the guests from Europe. We do not make discrimination among our guests, a factor which is proven by the extremely high percentage of repeated guests from different countries, which indicates the excellent quality of service, location and culinary delights. Thank you again for visiting us and we hope to have the chance to welcome you again in the near future. Kindest Regards, Guest Relations Department

Have just returned from my first visit to this hotel, stayed for one week, 8th-15th October and have to say it was one of the best places I have stayed. The staff are wonderful and just want to make your holiday special, the food was superb, we were all inclusive, which has to be the best value ever. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and can’t wait to return.

Just returned from a 10 day holiday here and enjoyed everything about it. We had a lovely room with beautiful sea view. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels etc always plenty of hot water too. Had to take the bus into town but the buses ran frequently and not expensive so no problem. Every member of staff had a friendly smile and was very helpful to everyone, though we had no problems atall. The food was delicious and so well cooked and full of flavour, always hot and well presented as well. Would highly recommend this hotel if you want a nice relaxing quiet holiday.

My wife and I have just returned from an eleven night stay at the Creta Royal. We usually seek out Adults Only hotels, ideally All Inclusive. I have read a number of the other reviews, and would agree that this is not the place for you if you are looking for evening entertainment (although I believe you were able to go to the sister hotel next door) or any form of activities around the pool. There wasn’t even any music playing in the background, just blissful peace and quiet! Yes the vast majority of guests appeared to be German, and kept themselves to themselves, Brits were a bit thin on the ground. Heho, if I want to meet new British friends I can do that at home! We found all the staff to be very welcoming and friendly, especially the two ladies, both called Katerina, who ran the Pool Bar and Sunset Bar. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and they were all able to converse with you in English. We enjoyed the meals on offer, the quality was good and there was always plenty of choice. We especially enjoyed lunch down in the small restaurant on the seafront, that was really nice. And for those like me with a sweet tooth, the puddings were excellent. So, the diet starts tomorrow 😂 There wasn’t a great deal to do locally, although I did discover a nice walk along the shore after a few days. That became my daily exercise. We did get the local bus into Rethymnon a couple of times, and spent a nice morning wandering about the shops. Downsides. If Im being honest, the hotel, whilst very clean and looked after, is a little bit tired. Its not really what you would expect from a five star hotel in the UK. Mainly the bedroom. One constant niggle was the single plug socket in the bedroom which just isn’t enough for a couple with 2 phones, 2 Kindles, an iPad etc etc. Maybe other rooms were different. We only had one (huge) magnetic key so couldn’t leave the electricity on when we weren’t there. And, as an engineer, I found it impossible to figure out how the aircon worked. Guess I could have asked I suppose 🤷‍♂️. All these were minor points though. We really enjoyed our stay, loved the ambience and the friendliness of the staff, and would definitely think of going back! Although I might hire a car next time!

Dear Guest Douglas_R_Smith, Thank you for choosing our Creta Royal Hotel for your vacations. We would like to mention that our hotel is multinational. Each week, the percentages of all nationalities are different, but first come the guests from Europe. The extremely high percentage of repeated guests from different countries is a factor which proves the excellent quality of service from our staff. Of course, we could help you more with the air-conditioning. Also, we would like to inform you that our property has a big interest in environmental issues (we maintain many environmental systems) that is the reason that the power turns off in all rooms when the key is removed, a practice which is very common among guests and hoteliers worldwide. Thank you again for your visit. We will be glad to see you again among our guests, on your next visit to Crete. With our best regards, Guest Relations Department
