Could not ask for better service, a wonderful family run hotel with guests that have been returning for many years and I can see why. Thekla the owner cannot do enough for you and she is so friendly, we will certainly be returning.
I have been staying here and around Skala Kalloni for many years. The Pela Hotel seems to improve with the years. Anything and everything is available if needed. The hotel kitchen prepares some of the very best selection of Greek dishes and some not so Greek but equally delicious. This time I booked through an online agency for the accommodation, flights (Thomas Cook) and half board. Impressive value for money. I have friends who now travel here on my previous recommendations. They love the hotel, the village and the island. Around in the village there are many fabulous tabernas to eat, drink or chat the hours away. There is something for everyone. Highly recommended.
I went here on the 11 May 19 for 2 weeks and really enjoyed my stay. This beautiful hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Skala Kalloni village,on the flat,no hills in the imediate area.It is also about 5 minutes from the beach and the stunning Kalloni Gulf. The rooms were kept very clean, however my bathroom corners had been missed and the drain grid on the bathroom floor was old broken and dirty and needed replacing but not a big problem. The rooms were cleaned every day apart from Sunday and the outside area was very clean with plenty of colourful flowers and roses. It is set slightly inland in beautiful country side. There are some wetlands very close by, which have a variety of creatures,be careful not to step on the tiny Frogs in the evening as they cross the road and the noise from the Frogs and Birds as you walk back at night is quite something.Sit out on your balcony at night and enjoy the sound of nature. The hotel has a restaurant an indoor and pool bar.Outside the restaurant is tiled area where you can sit and have your breakfast over looking the well kept gardens and a drink on an evening. There is a good size car park as well.It is family run and Thekla and her father are very helpful. There was a good mix of English,Dutch and Belgium guests there and all spoke good English as does Thekla,so if you are a solo traveler like myself its easy to meet other people.Skala Kalloni is a quiet area but there are about 9 tavernas to eat at.There is also the small town caled Kalloni about a 45 minute walk from the hotel an there are taxis based there as well.I will go back there some time a lot of people do and I can see why.…
I am writing this report sat by the pool enjoying the hot September sun on the last day of another wonderful holiday at the Pela. This is a traditional 2 star Greek Family run hotel that ensures you have a 5 star holiday. Good clean rooms, comfortable beds, excellent hospitality and delicious home cooked food. Thekla and the whole staff ensure you have a wonderful stay, nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are delightful, plenty of sunbeds by the very large pool. If you can tear yourself away from the hotel a short pleasant stroll takes you to the unspoilt beach on the bay, and onwards to the traditional village square with numerous good tavernas, some right on the shoreline. We'll be back for a 5th trip.
A great family run hotel, so welcoming they cannot do enough for you. Some years we go twice May and September. The number of people that return every year says it all. Excellent! It is just a shame Thomas Cooks have taken them off their books.
