Like so many others, this hotel isn’t even close to a 5 star! Tui market this as a 5 star resort and it’s lucky if it’s a 4 star. I feel like we overpaid for a holiday on the false pretences that we were getting a 5 star holiday. Cleanliness of rooms are very hit and miss, most days they just pulled the sheet across, they didn’t even sweep the sand from the floor! You aren’t even given a welcome letter advises opening and closing times! You have to find these out for yourself! The lack of signage is the worst I’ve ever seen in a hotel, you have to guess where things are and aren’t even given a map of the complex when you arrive. There is wasps everywhere due to the greenery that surrounds the hotel, would help limit them if the hotel sprayed! Certain restaurants and facilities were closed, which we weren’t informed about. Food - overall the food in the a la carte was very poor, the only one we all enjoyed was the Italian. In ocean view main courses were inedible or burnt! The food in the buffet was mediocre and for the size of the hotel it was a very small buffet. Drinks - very poor and limited drinks, if you aren’t a fan of gin or lime juice there are very limited choices for cocktails. Very strange that a virgin pina colda is included in the all inclusive option but one with rum isn’t! They will give you them separately and mix yourself! Special mention to Christina on reception, who was the most helpful employee we met. Also all of the staff in Ocean view were attentive.

We stayed here before when it had been just finished referb. Nothing has changed here. Room look great but after inspection the throw had lipstick and other dirty marks on it. ( Reported it to Tui rep Angela but nothing was done about it! I put on floor for cleaner and was never replaced. I did find it on last day on the wardrobe floor. Yuk! this would have been used for next guess. Bathroom .... was grubby all round, old grim and dirt built up in bath and other areas of bathroom. Location.... great. Views are amazing! Beach lovely!..... But good luck getting a sunbed you're entitled to for staying at hotel MAYOR. We witnessed people shouting about their towels being moved by other guests. The beds were person free for hours tbf. Sunbeds ..... People are putting towels down at the beach at around 6 am and most don't use or arrive until after 1 pm. Pools at hotel ..... are freezing cold, hardly used! No point having them! ' Ice bucket challenge cold ' people reserving beds early hours and some didn't return for hours. Food/ restaurant.... Food poor. Cooked meat joint was nice when it was on offer. Drinks..... not great! Fizzy drinks mostly flat The Restaurant were more like a canteen with people rushing and pushing! We were not told about the specialised restaurants, therefore not visited STAFF .... Are great! Friendly! Helpful! Reception staff..... not so helpful Showed th dirty bed throw and clearly not interested. Rep. Angela ... Waiting to see her to report issues in our room and she was taking a private call! When speaking to other guests they also had nothing positive to say about her either. We spent most days at Sea Breeze along beach as did other guests did. Food and drinks great and value for money. Lovely pools too. Staff friendly! Lovely Family! SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO MAINTENANCE GUY WHO RESCUED MY BIKINI TOP FROM POOL BAR ROOF 🙏 AND BROUGHT UP FOUR FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🤗

Firstly - TUI are advertising this as 5 star premium holiday, I’ve stayed in better 3 star hotels and this is not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination. Please - if you are expecting luxury - this is NOT the place to stay. TUI as a provider were super poor here, having to change transfers on the side of a main road instead of just sending us in suitable transport to start should have been my first point of call. Check in was poor, despite travelling for over 10 hours quite heavily pregnant, I was told to wait another 2 hours for check in, the receptionist saw I was pregnant and struggling and chose to prioritise two normal couples over me. After refusing to wait and get some food, a room was magic-ed up for me. Why not give it to me instead of arguing, I did notice another load of guests coming in so I was clearly given on of their rooms when they could have accommodated those who arrived first. We were lucky in given 5 block rooms, those in 6-9’s have huge hills to navigate and I think this would have caused a problem for me. The room itself doesn’t look anything like the photos advertised on TUI, it’s actually quite grotty and small, the bed is incredibly hard and uncomfortable and the furniture looks like it had its heyday in 2002. No English channels either on the television. There is a handy mini fridge though (empty which isn’t indicative of 5* at all) and tea and coffee and a bottle of water left in your room every day. Cleaning is hit and miss - some days they are banging on your door at 8am, others you are waiting until 4pm for new towels. The cleaners were friendly though and we were never out of toilet roll etc. They are incredibly stingy with drinks on all inclusive, you are given some flimsy paper card you need to carry around everywhere, the beer they give you is very poor, you get tiny little plastic cups on the beach they won’t even fill to the top. The list of exclusions is incredibly long. I wasn’t drinking but you can’t even get a bottle of water at the bar without paying. Even the Fanta lemon was just sparkling water with low syrup in it. You can see the hotel is trying to make money back, I had to ask to the beach bar staff to actually fill my drink to the top rather than halfway. Looking at the cocktail list too you can have 3 non alcoholic ones and about 5 others - I’ve never seen that operated like that anywhere as a 5 star all inclusive. The food is atrocious - they won’t tell you that you can book the 3 al a carte restaurants during your stay - I only found that out from talking to people, they are better service and the food is slightly better, I had to wait 20 minutes in a empty restaurant just for a coke, it was like on free drink and then they limit you straight after. Even the Italian, the seafood pasta is full of cheap crab sticks etc. The buffet is awful - over cooked meat, weird combinations, bad layout with lots of people just pushing in, I didn’t enjoy a single meal and I honestly feel sorry for those coming for 2 weeks, I would often go half my meal without even being able to order a drink. The breakfast juices are awful and it’s all very poor. You can book La Perla for breakfast every day and it’s slightly better - still can’t even get a piece of toast as they have two toasters for about 50 people. Go down to the beach and go to the tavernas (not the Greek stone one) honestly, the service and food is 100% better The beach is lovely, there are toilets there (by the end of the day they are filthy and aren’t maintained through the day) and there are lots of loungers but you do need to be down there before 10 really, there are plenty of people reserving at 6/7am and not returning for the whole day which the staff aren’t that bothered about. The view is lovely too - we had a decent sunset almost every night. The spa was great but very expensive but it was one of the only highlight of my holidays The entertainment was few and far between, I saw a few acts but I couldn’t even get a seat most of the time and they finished by 10pm. No music, no atmosphere. You even have to pay for the pool tables. The whole experience especially the hour it took to just leave the hotel - the fact the TUI rep wasn’t there and they had sent a minibus for 6 people to be ferried down the hill at the same time so we were majority late getting to the airport and caused a LOT of stress and anxiety. It’s even put me off going with TUI in future. The hotel really could have come out and helped facilitate and didn’t at all. There is an issue with wasps on the pool and beach side (very prevalent by the pool) I was bombarded with them, even doing nothing and laying down, I was stung 3 times. Hotel is doing nothing about it, no repellents etc. Least at the tavernas they burn the coffee grounds to deter them when eating. I actually couldn’t relax in the end as they are just always around you annoying you. We made the most of it but please be warned, if you’re booking this expecting luxury and the kind of all inclusive you get long haul, you will be very disappointed. This is a 3 star hotel on a good day.

Take some of the reviews with a pinch of salt, we have just returned from a week here and had a great holiday. The location of the hotel is perfect, the views and sunset are amazing. We spent all of our time on the beach, there is a large area with sun beds and the beach bar is actually on the beach, with great staff. The sun would come over the rock at about 1030, this didn’t bother us as we could relax before it got too hot, or we would go for a walk down the beach where there was sun earlier. The food was in good supply in the buffet restaurant, lots of choice and you will not go hungry, again the staff were friendly, when it was busy you may wait a while for a drink but again it wasn’t a problem for us as we were usually there when it wasn’t too busy. Outside for the evening meal was great as you had front row seats for the sunset, unfortunately the wasps were a little active at breakfast and lunch so we sat inside, not an issue in the evening. There was also afternoon cakes but we didn’t go up for these. We got to use all 3 of the A La Carte restaurants as part of our package, it was a nice change to get served rather than use a buffet, the service from Tasos was outstanding in the Greek restaurant and for us the best restaurant out of the 3. We used the bar by the reception in the evenings, it was a little quieter and we could always get a seat outside, the all inclusive bar menu was limited but there was still a choice. The room was ok, a little tired and could do with some TLC. We were given 2 large bottles of water everyday, in the room which was plenty as we could also get water from the beach bar at no extra cost. There is tea and coffee facilities, no iron in the room but I am sure if we had wanted one we could have asked. The room view was amazing looking out over the beach. Don’t get het up on the star rating that Tui have given the hotel, just enjoy your holiday, we certainly did.

The hotel certainly has a few disadvantages, as many people will attach to something, I will not write about the cons. For me, the hotel is perfect, the room is large and well furnished (we had a delux room), the view from the terrace was breathtaking. The food was all very good, tasty, fresh and every day some of the dishes were repetitive but a lot changed, I read a lot about Corfu cuisine before my arrival, and that was also the cuisine served. The service in the bars and restaurants was very nice and it was amazing how they dealt with so many guests. The hotel beach was simply beautiful, clear water, sand and views, access to it, especially from our room, required a very good condition, and here let me write about booking sunbeds, unfortunately it is so all over the world and it is hard to expect miracles from the hotel service, because we, the guests, do it. So if you want a place on the beach in high season, you have to get up at 7 and go down to the beach and lay your towel on. The hotel is located on a hill, it is very extensive and you have to climb a bit or order a melex, this is the price for a beautiful view and peace. It is a hotel for people who really need rest and relaxation and this is what you have to expect when going to Mayor La Grota Verde. We did it and we will surely come back to recharge the batteries, to slow down and just do nothing. We would like to thank all the hotel staff for making our holiday perfect, we already miss your professionalism and smiling faces.
