Great location away form all the tourist crowds! Without car a bit off but Hotel offers good shuttle services (a bit pricy like everything in Santorini). Typical local architecture, feels like a small resort.

This is a very nice property in a pleasant little village. We did not get a platinum upgrade but our suite was very nice. It had a large sitting area, plenty of closet space and a nice bathroom. This is not a seaside resort, but it is well appointed. We had excellent service and our room was always sparkling clean. It is not as elegant as properties that I rate 5, but I definitely recommend it. The one downside that floored me was a 10 euro charge for ice in your room!!!!!!!!

We are bemused as to how this hotel could receive a 5 star rating, given our experience. We would start by saying that the staff were mostly lovely, friendly, and as helpful as they could be. We can only surmise that there is a failure of management to properly train staff and supervise the running of the hotel. Our first three days were a seemingly endless stream of difficulties, so that we felt we were staying in a Greek Fawlty Towers. The room (Dorian Suite) was spacious and clean, though the bathroom was past its best. This would be far too long a review to take you through all our travails but some are worth special mention. Remember, this was all in our first three days. Room: - Faulty toilet, with very loose seat and constantly running. Took two days to resolve and a maintenance man was sent, without any notice, to our room at 10:15 pm and worked for 45 minutes. - Broken pedal bin in bathroom, never replaced. - No replacement of any glasses, coffee cups/saucers/spoons despite no fewer than eight separate requests over two days. Finally, on day three, some replacements but by no means all, and these came by apparent special delivery, not as a standard feature of housekeeping. Five star?? This is utterly basic. - Couldn’t use the lovely, private terrace due to ant infestation. - On day 3, ant infestation migrated to the room: crawling over floors, sofa, ewww! Eventually they did send someone round, several hours after we alerted them to the problem. Food: - When we first arrived after a long journey, we went straight to the pool bar for a bite and drink. We were famished. We ordered dip and bread to start, with main course to follow. It took 45 minutes to get any food at all, they had clearly not put the order in and apparently didn’t discover this until we had asked twice for an ETA. They then served everything together at the same time. Kind of no point in the dip and bread, then. - Breakfast was a fiasco every day. For all 8 days. Not a single respite from incompetence here. Coffee took a minimum of 15 minutes to arrive and was invariably tepid. This meal was advertised as an ‘American breakfast’. It was a la carte, fine, but there was very little that could be described as American, either in portion or content (we know what constitutes a typical breakfast in America). My daughter ordered waffles one day and they served ½ waffle, literally cut in half. One person’s breakfast would be brought 5-30 (not a typo) minutes or more before others’. One day, my daughter was served two dishes and finished both before mine was brought, a full half hour afterwards. There were typically only 4-5 occupied tables in our first three days so it was not as though it was a mad, busy crush to get food out or served. Even when one breakfast arrived, it was always missing part of the order. Always. No exceptions over 8 days. - During our entire 8-day stay, not once did we receive the correct order, nor were we served at the same time. On four occasions, one of our breakfast orders simply vanished somewhere between it being taken and the kitchen, and had to be re-issued, resulting in lengthy delays. We never got to eat together. I could go on. This review only encompasses the first three days, we gave up after that but I am writing at the end of our 8-day stay and nothing has improved. It was often stressful and really not a good experience. We found it difficult to relax and enjoy the hotel, and contrived to spend as much time as possible elsewhere. We didn’t eat there at all except for the day of our arrival (described above) and breakfast, which was included so already paid for. We recommend ordering 2-3 dishes from the menu if you require a full breakfast. You would need to be a very light eater indeed to get by on just one, and you would be fortunate to receive what you ordered in recognisable form. One thing was clear: our room was not properly checked or prepared for occupation. Service was nowhere near what you would expect from a well-run hotel of any rating. If you are looking for a 5- star experience, look elsewhere.

I had an issue with a reservation with this Vedema in September. I had repeatedly explain the error that the hotel made for several weeks. When the hotel realized that it actually made an error with taking points, there was no apology. The only remedy was for me a to pay an outrageous amount after being told for weeks, that I was wrong, when the hotel made an error in deducting the points.

Dear Mr. Wright, I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience you describe and that you were not able to experience Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort. Kindly be informed that our cancellation policy is quite clear. In case of a Non-show, full cancellation fee will be applied. Once we had your booking marked as a Non-Show in our system, we have proceeded in applying full cancellation penalty deducting the points from your Marriott Account. After that, you informed us that you had already cancelled your reservation, however we have never received a cancellation confirmation number. In this point, we would like to inform you that we had a direct email conversation with Marriott Bonvoy Team informing us that they are not able to find any cancellation request for this booking, as well. Nonetheless in order to find the best solution, we offered you an alternative option in order to ensure that your points will be redeemed which had been declined by your side. Once again, we are deeply sorry for this inconvenience and we hope that you will be able to experience our Resort in the future as we always aim to value our loyal members and guests. Kind Regards, Sofia Florou Guest Experience Manager

We used Dream Makers Vacation Services to plan my 40th birthday trip to Greece. From the moment the taxi arrived at the hotel, we were completely blown away! The charm of this hotel was like nothing we had ever seen. The cobblestone floors, tucked away behind two double doors, was just what we needed to kick off our Greek experience. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants that serve authentic Greek cuisine, and with just a five-minute walk up the road, you'll arrive at a bakery that serves every treat your sweet tooth could possibly desire. The rooms were gigantic! We stayed in The Aegean Suite which was like having a large condo all to ourselves. The minibar in the room was quite expensive, so we didn't eat or drink any of the refreshments from there. You'd be better off walking a few steps and getting a full meal at one of the nearby restaurants for the same price. Breakfast was included with our stay, but we only had breakfast twice while we were there. I wasn't exceptionally impressed by the selection. They could have had more hot options to choose from, but because we're not much of a breakfast eater it wasn't a big deal for us. Any time you need a taxi to Fira or Oia, the concierge will make the arrangements for you and notify you via whatsapp when your ride is ready. They were very accommodating and hospitable during our stay at the resort. The only issue I had was that our suite had drain flies. I understand that drain flies are born when a pipe has not been used for a long period of time, however, this was a very big deal for me because I cannot tolerate any animals, rodents, or insects of any kind. I am very afraid of them! For the amount of money we were paying for this resort, I expect the place to be immaculate. This was the ONLY reason that I didn't give Vedema an 'excellent' rating. Every other aspect of our stay was amazing! I would definitely stay here again if they can guarantee that we will not have any drain flies in our room.

A true luxury property located in the surprisingly central and charming village of Megalochori. The concierge is accessible, communicative, and extremely helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the spa was a real highlight - luxury experience! It was perfect for my wife's birthday. Our Aegean suite was beautiful and our room package included a private wine tasting, which was indeed a full tasting with a sommelier in their wine cave - do not miss to schedule this! Take advantage of their shuttles (especially the amazing shuttle to the amazing black sand beach at their partner hotel) for the full experience. Taxis around the island are expensive no matter what - the Vedema concierge’s private car service is taxi rates for chauffeur service (with the exception of the airport transfer for which you’ll find a better deal with a local taxi or a separate car service such as Welcome Pickups which we used). For those adventurous enough to try the local bus service, the Megalochori stop is surprisingly central given all the bus lines south of Thera converge through Megalochori, so the wait isn’t too long (and the schedule is unpredictable). If you want to go to Thera, the bus is very easy. We took the bus on two occasions to Santo Wines and the local Blue Monkey brewery outside of Thera. I would avoid walking the narrow main roads at night and opt for the car service to dinner, to save time, and for any trips beyond Thera. We also took the shuttle to Oia given it’s a great value compared to the expensive taxi ride up there - as one suggestion, Vedema should consider adding one more shuttle to Oia that runs a little earlier so folks have more time to explore the area before sunset. Overall, the resort did a great job at acknowledging our honeymoon/birthday with a bottle of prosecco and a slice of cake, and the concierge knew us by name throughout our stay.

This place is pure luxury, incredible service and attention to detail and magnificent beauty. It was fabulous to be in this lovely little town, away from the oppressive crowds. The restaurants on the nearby square could not have been better.

Beautiful property. Terrific breakfast. Quiet location away from the tourist crowds in a traditional village. I used Marriott Bonvoy points to book 5 nights. It should have been fantastic but for the entire stay we had no hot water in the shower. The sinks yes but the shower never got hot. Calls and texts to the front desk promised a prompt fix but that never happened. A lot of apologies but no fix. 5 days of cold showers. I used nearly 500,000 points for the stay. At checkout I requested a partial refund of my points. After calls and texts, I was offered a 10,000 point refund. I was made to feel that it was my fault for not contacting the hotel manager directly. Terrible way to treat a Platinum Elite member. Not at all what I am used to.

If you are looking for an absolutely stunning and unique stay look no further. Light indoor minimalistic touches blend in with a volcanic rock decorated outdoor environment to create a universe of relaxation, luxury and comfort. The hotel has a village feeling as it is spread over a really big area full of alleys and paths, has two outdoor swimming pools, a spa and is the home to Alati, one of the best restaurants around offering a fine dining menu full of authentic Greek flavours made with local ingredients. The chef and his team exceeded our expectations and all staff in general were very well trained and accommodating. Will definitely visit again.

Arrived at Vedema for our honeymoon and as soon as we checked in they loudly exclaimed “Oh you are using points.” We should have known then and there that we were in to be treated as 2nd class citizens. Since I’m a gold member we were told we would receive free breakfast. Well we show up at breakfast and they say “oh well since you paid with points, no free breakfast…that will be $90.” Outrageous!! Also there was no complimentary upgrade despite the hotel not being full, nor anything that would even hint that we were on our honeymoon (no card, no bottle of wine, etc. that we received in the other hotels—to include others that we paid with points). Severely disappointed especially on our honeymoon. When we voiced these concerns to Marriott, we received an email from Ivan the manager saying no upgrades were available and that their records showed us receiving a bottle of prosecco from the hotel for our honeymoon (note: no mention/apology for the front desk lying to us about the breakfast mishap). When I informed him that we had not received the bottle, he accused us of lying because it was in their records and gave a snarky apology for not enjoying what they had provided us, and basically pointed the finger at us for not coming to him. Beyond disappointing and the worst experience with management that I have ever encountered.

Dear Kati42, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with the above feedback with the rest of travellers. I was truly concerned to read about your experience and how you did not feel valued as loyal BonVoy Elite Member. I must assure you that we always do our utmost to recognise all of the many Elite BonVoy members that stay with us, so was saddened to hear that you did not share this sentiment. As a practice, we are more than happy to offer a room upgrade for our Elite Members, should we have the availability. We most certainly offer genuine and personalised service to all of our valued guests; thus, were very disappointed to hear about the extent of your overall experience. Please allow me to extend my sincere apologies for any shortcomings experienced and rest assured that I take this feedback very seriously and have discussed with the Senior Leadership team. I truly hope we will have the opportunity to rectify your situation and welcome you back to the hotel again. Kind regards,
