Nice play to stay, and very nice people.
Of course, in October there was not many appartements occupied, therefore it was a peaceful place. 5 minutes by car from the beach, and a nice "taverna" 5 minutes walking.
Regarding the apartment, it was big enough, but it could be more comfortable, with a real sofa in living room, a microwave in kitchen, and the furniture’s not so high stored, my wife needs a chair to hold them...

A traditional hotel in the south east part of Crete. i really liked the home atmosphere of Dora and her daughter Ioana. Dora was there every breakfast, presenting proudly what she has cooked for us for breakfast. everything fresh, homemade. Many things to see in the area, not crowded and a real Crete atmosphere. you will feel at home...

Just returned from a wonderful 10 days stay at this peaceful, spotlessly clean, minimal, yet characterful apartment. The location was stunning - at the top of the village overlooking the Libyan Sea, but really good for a short stroll into Koutsounari and the lovely tavernas and beaches there. Mr Emmanuel was so obliging and courteous. We had flowers in our room on arrival and a freshly baked cake from his wife, Dora, that evening. All the locals are really friendly, but you have total privacy and exclusivity at the apartments. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves most days and exploring eastern Crete from here was a joy. Panoramic views, unspoilt villages and coastline. Awesome, jaw-dropping scenery, archaeological sites abound, authentic local delicious food. Would I return? Recommend? Absolutely!

A warm welcome from the owner, that is how it all began.
"Welcome to paradise!" mr. Emanouel said. And he was so right.
We were happy with the peace and quiet.
Appartment was very clean, every two days clean sheets and towels.
Very nice pool with good food.
We made nice trips to Ienapetra, Agios Nikolaos, Spinalonga, Elounda, Vai and Sitia.
It was wonderful.

In the beginning of june 2013 my wife and I went on holliday to Koutsounari, on the island of Krete. We went to Nakou Village. It's lokated on the hill side in Koutsounari. This is a very quiet place among the local inhabitant's. The owner of Nakou Village welcomed us and gave us a warm welcome to his place. We had a appartement with a beautifull view to the Libian sea some 800 meters from the road and beach. The apartement was very clean and cosey, with airconditioning. We had a great time in Nakou Village and can recomment it to everyone who is looking for peace and quiet, with the natural friendlyness of the Greek people who live theire. We had a great time and will come back some day.

This is one of the rare reviews that one cannot wait to write (landed 3 hours ago). Everything was just great!
The owners have made of Nakou an enchanting place. They have finely furnished the apartments (we had two studios) with typical simple Cretan vacation home style. You would stay all day in the quietest terrace watching the sea view from a high hill spot. Apartments are very clean and room service is every 2 days. Sleep was also comfortable with good bedding and air conditioning.
Location wise it is convenient as a base to visit the area. You have public beaches at 5minutes drive. It is 15 mn drive from Ierapetra (no traffic) and 30/45mn to the nicest beaches along the coast. You do not even feel the distance as you are enjoying the scenary and the breathtaking views. A wide variety of restaurants are also 5mn driving distance. The breakfast by the pool is also great and Musaka is a must, all home made.
You also get the hospitality and heartfelt smile as a bonus!
Thank you for a wonderful vacation, we will be back.

Nakou village is a complex of villas up to the hill of koutsounari just a few kilometers from Ierapetra. Its highly recommended for the people who want to relax, explore the nearby long beaches, the nature and enjoy the cretan food. The stuff are very friendly and helpful. Mrs Dora (the owner) look after you with big smile as always. Our villa , no 103 was very clean, spacious , with great see view. In arrival we had complimentary home made jam , and pure honey. Our daughters were excited with their bedroom so did we. We are really enjoyed. We will defenetely come back soon!! Thank you for everything mrs Dora!!

We stayed at Nakou Village recently in early October to take advantage of the end of season quietness and sunshine. We had originally booked to stay in one of the traditional Cretan cottages, but after one night found that to be too basic and not very comfortable , though certainly charming and traditional. We asked the Emanouel family if we could transfer to one of the apartments in the village, which we were able to do. We were grateful for that, and amazingly Mr E was able to move another couple into the cottage within an hour! We loved the terrace of our apartment for relaxing and views over the coastline . We loved the pool ( unheated, so chilly in October) which was just outside our apartment, and we loved the mountains behind the village and the garden all around the complex, with lovely shrubs and plants. The apartment was clean and well equipped , and was serviced with clean linen and a cleaning service every 2 days. It is only a short drive to some good places to eat and to shop. Our favourite was Psaroupoula the fish Taverna at Koutsounari. The beach we liked best was 20 mins drive east at Makri- Gialos. After moving from the cottage to the village we rarely saw the Emanouels except Mrs E in the garden one day, so no- one checked if we were happy or not. The main problem for us was the beds which were excruciatingly uncomfortable - a very hard mattress ( which you could feel the springs through) on a solid concrete base, so no comfort or give at all ! And the pillows! We were given several, but they were all unbelievably uncomfortable, filled with some lumpy, floppy material, so no support or comfort. We were obliged to go to a supermarket in Ierapetra to buy 2 pillows so we could actually sleep! We had to leave these behind of course - so whoever gets that apartment next, I hope they appreciate our extra comfortable pillows!!! I really think when you pay for a good quality accommodation like this you should be able to rely on decent bedding at least! But we loved the area, the people we met, the beach and scenery. We will be returning to Crete next October as we loved it so much.

Thank you for taking the time to post and share your experience with the tripadvisor community. We are delighted that you have enjoyed your holidays as well as relaxing at your terrace overlooking the Libya sea. We do our best to facilitate and service our guests, as it happened with your first request to relocate you to an apartment here at Nakou Village. Rest assured that if you have told me, or mrs Mandalas (during your afternoon talks) we would have found the suitable pillows for you. We will investigate the matter with our room maids tin order to find out why, your request never reached us. We thank you for the pillows and feel sorry for the inconvenience caused. Looking forward to welcoming you at ours again, Best Regards, Emmanouel and Dora Mandalas
