We spent my husbands birthday at this lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff was exceptional. During our checkin process we mentioned it was his birthday and without hesitation they upgraded our room. The hotel location is beautiful and so private. Our waitstaff even surprised my husband with a special cake made for his birthday and had a bottle of wine delivered to our room. We will always remember our time at this beautiful hotel and lovely caring people. Thank you to each of you for making his birthday one we will never forget.

This is an old hotel but there are obvious efforts to upgrade and in a certain level they manage to do it and as far as I may understand they continue. Please admit the last two years 2020 & 2021 the imposed restrictions particularly in the winter season where it was a heavy need for maintenance vendors. However we stayed Four Nights and our overall experience is positive. The magnificent sea view and access to beach is unforgettable The politeness and professionalism of staff on very high side If they manage to improve the exteriors such as gardens paths beach beds etc then we will have an excellent hotel.

+ beautiful location, huge pool, private beach, large and comfortable rooms + staff really friendly and helpful + lots of delicious choices and breakfast and dinner buffet - although juices and coffee are provided at breakfast, at dinner no water is provided and water is 3 euros. No kettles in rooms so you must buy all drinks at the bar. Wine was brought to dinner table but we weren't told that we'd be charged until after our meal. When I asked for tap water they refused, it's against policy. We were told that the tap water is not for drinking but this is a lie, another guest told me that they filled their water bottle in their bathroom and the water is ok. This is not a cheap hotel so it seems particularly petty and greedy not to provide water and the environmental impact of 1000s of plastic bottles every day is shocking! Water is a basic need in a hot country and it's immoral not to provide drinking water

What a Fantastic Hotel We were welcomed with open arms right from the moment we arrived to the day of departure. The room was very clean and had a spectacular view of the bay with Two balconies. I would recommend you upgrade to the superior rooms as you get sun beds and umbrella if you don’t fancy laying by the pool. The air conditioning worked very well and Breakfast was amazing, served in the restaurant right by the sea and the staff couldn’t do any more for us. The WiFi connection was a little hit and miss in the room but was excellent on the balcony and down by the sea. If you want a special place to take someone with spectacular views, attentive staff this must be on your list. There is a regular bus service right by the hotel or you can easily walk into the town just down the road where there are plenty of Greek Tavernas What a place to stay 🎉

We returned here having honeymooned here 40 years ago. We had read reviews that hotel had been refurbished so thought we would revisit whilst in Crete. The location remains stunning but what a disappointment. The room was tired and old. Air conditioning unit was noisy and we had to prop it open in order to feel some air from it. The fridge did not work. Bathroom was tired and smelt. Sockets were few and far between and the WiFi didn’t work in the room yet it did on the beach! The pool area was scruffy with ants crawling over the sun loungers. It’s only saving Grace was the restaurant adjacent to the beach where the views were wonderful and the food and service good. Sadly we shall not be returning and only glad we booked a short stay!

We stayed here for a week in early September. The hotel overlooked the bay, the view from the balcony was beautiful. The pool was large and the beach was private. Breakfast was excellent, you made orange juice with real oranges in a machine, the choice was wide for food, almost anything you can think of. The staff were excellent, your room could be cleaned daily or every two days according to your preferences. Although the hotel is a little old, it was by far the best hotel we have stayed in Crete

Istron bay had various reviews and mixed reviews... It was our second time there(11 years after...) and the charm is always here... First it is a natural site...and it is so beautiful...The bay itself worth the sejour. you got a bottle of wine in room as welcome present. Rooms are large and so quite...You have not this kind of isolation between rooms in newer structures... Effectively there are some lacks to not have the 5 points...air conditining is old...and noisy in room, the wifi is not very strong( : both can be easely corrected...(wifi more than A/C). When you ask kindly the cleaning team work everyday and well... The swimming pool is terrific and the beach correct(some platic on morning but due to the turits in boat...) : after 9 am it is cleaned. In that year of covid the music is over at 10'30 pm and so it is fine. The breakfast is correct, the restaurant more than correct. We had the langoust menu and it was very good. the portions are huge. Good choice of wine. So to recommand if you preferr the charm to the aseptised new complex.. Sometimes it is preferable. We will be back.

This is a 5-star hotel, with an affordable price tag (at least for the period I traveled). The room was spacious, comfortable, with a balcony and a view to the sea. The privately owned beach is nice, with towels and umbrellas included in the price of the room. Bathroom was also spacious. Reception staff was helpful and polite. 2 bottles of water were expecting me in my room. Half-board was excellent and the price unbelievable. Not enough light in the bathroom and no shampoo. Wi-fi was terrible, I couldn't even get connected. Covid-19 measures were not enforced and respected by everyone.
