First, the hotel is not 4stars, as the description on the gate says... Rooms depend on your luck - if your are lucky, you get an apartment on 2nd floor, overlooking the sea... if not, you end up in a basement... Check with the front desk before taking your keys.
Otherwise, all is good. The owners are friendly, speak good English, and are helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious, with a small kitchen.
The pool is somewhat small for swimming, but even that is manageable. The beach is right across the quiet street, with free beach service.
Pool bar serves basic beer, local wine, raki, and ouzo plus sodas and water. If you happen to order a stay with all inclusive, beware that you may take only 2 cups of drink per person at a time... But no one discourages you from sitting at the bar all day ;). Food is average, not bad, but any tavern around is better.
The town is really quiet, there is not much to do apart from sitting on the beach and walking around. Car is a must, if you want to see something. There is regular local bus service to Iraklion, about 20 minutes trip, the stop is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Would recommend for beach enthusiasts and relaxing types only.
Attention: electricity was down every day from 2 to 5 p.m. and tap water tastes a bit salty.

Magnificent beach right next to the apartments is the greatest strength of Blue Sky Beach. There are spacious and clean rooms, unfortunately AC stopped working at midnight even though we paid for 24 hours of air-conditioning, so we couldn't sleep well. Nobody on reception was able to help us with our problem. Spirits within the all inclusive program are diluted and meals are monotonous, but I think there is no problem to withstand it for one week. We were very satisfied with service at the bar, the bartender George was really nice and professional (unlike the bartender Nico, who wasn't very helpful...). I can recommend this hotel for modest people who just wanna enjoy the sea :)

The bathroom needs improvement. The shower head was broken, no water pressure, and it looked crummy. There was no free breakfast even though they advertise it. I don’t believe there was any food at all. We had to ask for a key to the safe and believe some cash was taken from it. All in all I would steer clear.

Dirty, old furniture, no curtains in the bedroom, no control for the air condition, bad and unpleasant service at desk. They speak v. Bad English. Food is awful and the beach is not nice nor clean. Pool is small and dirty. Run by an unprofessional Greek family!I had to hire a lawyer to get my money back . Very very bad experience. Keep away !

First day, no clean sheets itchy absolutt horrible. The staff are rude telling us its personal hygiene problem. Dirty and rude staff. Over paid for this low life dirty place, “Warning Don’t go here” absolutely ruined our first day in beautiful Crete. They should have taken this place of the map completely it’s a dump. Don’t even think about going to blue sky it’s a scam from start til the end. Just don’t go there …..

went to gouves in crete with thomas cook .when i booked on line the appartments where on the beach road.when we got there it was a different apartment upa side road.it was the blue sky .on line it said that the beach apartments were run by ditzy and simon but they ran the one they put us in.dont get me wrong it was a nice place.basic but ok.ditzy and simon couldnt do enough for you .there was only 5 couples and 2 children staying there.the big problem was that nearly every thing was closed.only a few cafes open.so dont go in the last week of october.there was no where for the children to go.the day trips worked out expensive.but had to go on them other wise we would have been bored stiff.food was good.thomas cook should have warned people . we payed to have the apartment for longer because of lateflight .while we waited ditzy and simon packed every thing up and closed the place down leaving three couples to wait on our own till we left.thomas cook would not print my review on their site.joyce carter

We had a bad luck connected to a bad weather. The Cretan temperatures are usually hot. On our trip the hotel has given us blanket for two people and in cold weather there were no other blankets. The reason was that the other people had borrowed them because of the cold weather. It was disappointing.

Also not mentioning the food there. However the condition should improve after this winter restoration.

NEJEZDĚTE TAM !!!! Většina hotelových hostů onemocněla, průjmy, teploty, zvracení. Hygienická opatření za našeho pobytu nenastala žádná. Strava špatná, ubytování špinavé, švábi, plíseň.
DO NOT GO THERE!!! Most of the clients get sick by diarrhoea, vomiting, feaver. No hygienic action during our stay. Bad meal, accommodation very dirty, cocroaches, moul.

We were informed by travel agency its 4 star hotel but actually its 1 or 2 stars hotel. After arrival room was not cleaned towels used probably by previous guests.we requested new room which was in basement with destroyed shower so after shower water everywhere.Food was very simple (nothing from greek cuisine).as desert every day watermelon or fruit from can.drinks in plastic glasses.taste of coffe and drinks always salty.during eating time outside there were dogs and cats running around us.
Beach is like 1 meter from hotel( sand beach) with destroyed equipment.at least it was for free. What i didnt like at all we had to pay for air condition 5 EUR per 24 hours.air condition didnt work i had to set it up manually because remote control didnt work either. I would recommend avoid this hotel!
