The staff was very nice and the whole area was very quiet and pleasant. The walk t the nearest beach was about 20mins, but we were able to hire out bikes. The hotel staff helped us with this. The breakfast was included and was good with a range of Greek-style foods available. The location, however, is quite far from the town centre of Heraklion, hence we had to take a bus there. The bus journey took about 30 to 40mins. But the bus fare was very cheap.

Verry nice hotel, spacious rooms, cleaning service is on point. Breakfast is simple, but deliciuos. Diner is great, great variety of food for dinner, ranging from various meats ( such as: Lamb, pork, chicken) fish and pasta. Anyone could find what they wanned to eat. Room service came everyday and cleaned our mess.... :) about room. We stayed in junioir suit. Rooms were big enough, had 4 beds so we could crash anywhere we like, small yet cosy balcony, and kitchen. We didint make any food so havent tested equipment, but it seem brand new. Whole flat looked renovated. And The bathrom was amazing! Huuuuuged shower, you could fit a whole cow inside! On checkout we left our luggage in reception and it was fine, but didint looked secured. All in all very nice place! P. S. Seaside is 10minute wallk away Hellped to rent a car for better price!

Very nice staff, felt like I was welcomed into a family home. The location of the hotel is great, just a short walk to the sea, and when you decide to explore the island by car, as it’s situated half way across the island. So you have a choice whether you’d like to explore the East or the West covering the same distance. The rooms have everything you need from a hotel, and all the amedities are there.

We arrived at Erato hotel around 9:55 p.m. Although it was past dinner time, they welcomed us in the kitchen and served us dinner. I have read some reviews below and someone stated that the food was repetitive. The food was fresh and cooked in their own kitchen. So that is a big plus. It was good food specially the fish, totally loved it. The rooms are clean, the towels were actually changed daily and the air conditioning was free and fully operational. We had no problem with the noise, bcz we didn't have time to stay in silence and hear what other people are doing. Some people slammed the doors sometimes, but that is not someting that the hotel is to blame for, but people's poor education. Once againg for a three stars hotel Erato is above the average. My family had to walk also to the beach, which we did daily, even twice a day. And we are talking about 64 years and 60. If walking is a problem then you can take a taxi or remain at the swimming pool. This is our forth vacation in Greece and second i Crete . You must buy the water everywhere. Also please bear in mind that only hotels of 4 and 5 stars offer reception 24/7. We didn't even powerd on the Tv, so i could not say how many or what kind of channels you get. That is not why we go in vacation. We spent the evenings on the terrace playing card or talking with the staff members. We become friends with Maria anf Yanis, and let me tell you this:Maria did her very bes trying to meet all our expectations. I have nothing but great impressions about Erato staff and Maria. We kindly recommend this hotel, and we would like to thank all of them one more time for our great time spent at their location. From Romania with love, Roxana and Daniel!

I gave this hotel 4 stars because I want every person that reads this review to make it own opinion about it. First of all it is located in Gournes which is a sort of touristic village, but not a seaside resort. The hotel is easy to find, at the main road and close to the bus stop. However, the beach itself it's within a 15 minutes walk and when you get to the beach you will find small strips of sand but lovely waters. There are some bars near the beach as well as some local restaurants-tavernas. Secondly, this is a 3 stars hotel and offers you basic accomodation. The rooms are clean but the bathroom is rather old and sometimes it smells. For us, there was a strange drip from a ceiling ventilation opening and nothings could be done about this. It does however have a pool which is quite wide and reaches 2.6meters deep. This is a big plus. The hotel offers half board, but the food is again basic. The breakfast is not diverse. They have some cereals, sweets and different types of meat with tomatoes. The coffee is not great, but it exists. For dinner all food was home cooked. We never had grilled meat, but there was fish and some salads. They offered melon every day and some traditional sweets. Nothing fancy. What was disappointing is that you had to buy your drinks. Even water had to be bought. Also, we asked for early breakfast at 7:30 instead of 7:45 and what we got was a plate with something to make a sandwich and coffee from the night before. Everyone is indeed nice and helpful. Last but not least, the hotel is noisy. You can hear everything and if you are looking for a place where to rest, this is not it :(
