This family run hotel is so warm and inviting that I honestly felt like I was part of the family when we left Honestly when we pulled up I thought we had made a huge mistake - there are half built cement block buildings on either side of this 3 story hotel and i was expecting an older more charming...

We quite often booked not expensive 1-3 stars hotels for staying but in case of this hotel we are deeply disappointed.. Actually I am able to list only two positive points: 1. Good location. Ammoudara village is located nearby Heraklion city center (5 km), so it is easily can be reached by bus ( bus stop is also not far...

I'd been in Handakas for 7 days in August 2015. The hotel is in 2 minutes of walking to the sea. Hotel owner is a very nice woman, responsive to requests. Friendly staff. Always clean rooms. There are parking spaces. We left our little red jimni in the shade in front of the hotel. It is possible to order dinner...

We have been so well served with a free extension of stay by Sophie that we cannot give a bad review. The room was average size with AC & balcony. They were a moisty smell in the room. We found the solution by cleaning the filthy AC filters. The people who clean the linens are surely smokers because the sheet...

I stayed at the Hotel Handakas, owned by the family of the same name, from July 4-18 as part of my ESL teaching volunteer trip with Global Volunteers. I arrived in the evening, quite a bit later than originally anticipated due to flight delays and subsequent missed connections. Though the first few moments of us meeting were a bit awkward-it...

The accommodation is very basic, but I like it, as I am not here to watch TV. The room is clean, has AC (which is free, and as far as I know it's a rare bonus for cheap Cretan hotels), shower, closet. The only minus is there's no fridge. The pool is quite decent and looks very clean. Everything I need...

Location here is great, and rooms are air conditioned. Love the staff, who don't speak much English are really warm and wonderful. We stayed here for two weeks with a Global Volunteers program, so got to be pretty at home in this hotel. Kids loved the pool, and the balcony and colored flowers are so beautiful. However, I would never...

Hotel Handakas has a good location close to the beach, supermarkets, small shops and bus stop. Heraklion (City center) can be reached by a short bus trip and tickets cost 1.50 euro if purchased in supermarket or 2 euro paid directly to the bus driver. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed/slept there for a week and the...

We had trouble finding the hotel, then found it to be noisy - you could hear other patrons opening and closing doors and had a rooms that had been smoked in. That being said the room was clean and fine for one night with an adequate breakfast. The pool looked pretty and the staff were helpful.

This hotel is everything you need. The welcoming Handakas family will go out of their way to make your stay the best. The rooms are clean with comfortable, firm beds and despite what others have said, not particularly small, air-con, and all with a balcony complete with table and chairs. The en-suite bathroom only has a shower but there is plenty...
