We loved Neilson Messini, it was amazing. The hotel is really nice, and the staff were fantastic. We really enjoyed Yoga + Pilates (Mhairi was a great instructor), swimming (50m pool!) and sailing (although there was quite a bit of chop). The food was excellent, with a good range of healthy choices. We also really enjoyed the trip to Ancient Messini. We finished our holiday feeling very happy, very relaxed, and we are keen to go back. Gym-wise, there was (as far as I remember): a Concept 2 rower; a Concept 2 Ski Erg (brutal for HIIT); a treadmill; soft pylometric boxes for box jumps; a bench press bench + barbell + ~80kg of plates (the barbell isn't great and has worn-down knurling, the plates aren't bumper plates); dumbells (not sure what they went up, but something like 16kg); a dip/pull-up stand; and some bulgarian bags + core bag things. There was plenty of space to do HIIT/Crossfit-style work-outs. Given the space available, it would be good if there were a lifting platform + squat rack (or at least a trap bar) + bumper plates. This wouldn't cost a lot of money, but would make Neilson Messini a better destination for people who want to train whilst on holiday.

Neilson Messini Beachclub Messini As you read this review please know from the start this is a resort worth going to and I would recommend Neilson holidays. So give it a go. Tracy and I have been on package holidays and enjoyed most of them. This trip ranks very high on our trips. First off you can be as active as you like or you can be as relaxed as you want. No one will pressure you into anything. Our flight was excellent out of T5 Heathrow and British Airways terminal and staff were excellent. Self check in and we were in under 15mins. My only regret was not having breakfast in Wagamamas(I missed the sign which was huge). They do a fantastic breakfast range, so if in T5 travelling try it. Our arrival and transfer were quick with around a 25min coach ride. Neilson staff were on hand at airport (Meg Carey) and we were welcomed by the remainder of the staff including manager as we arrived. Room allocation done expertly and we were in our room 10mins later. Rooms were very clean and we had a double bed and sofa that would offer an extra bed. Bathroom, large shower, bday and a comfortable area. Air con very good. Fridge for you to top up as you wish. Little patio and beach 150yds away. Activities - well organised and plenty of choice, tennis, bikes (both mountain & road), gym, classes (Rosie and team), stand up paddle board, kayak, sailing, varied size boats, wind surfing and water ski. Simple sign up and welcome meeting, meet instructors and beach safety brief and your good to go. Climbing was an extra trip we booked pre-holiday and was excellent. Their is a wall in the resort , but going on the trip is a better experience as your climbing real local areas. All levels and very safe and professional. Bring a pen and paper to write your timetable for the week as you will have slots and times to be places (Neilson logo pencil and blank timetable for guest to write their weeks activities would be handy). All the team and I mean all the team, from Charlie, Harry, Ryan, Archie, Rosie, Meg, Oli, really were on hand for those guest issues and put you at ease. Oh and I forgot Volleyball every evening at about 6.30pm is a group activity you must have at least a go. Tracy and I played every night and it was one of my favourite activities, our final game us winning 32-30 after a guest recovery to win a pulse-sating guest Vs staff game. After winning this we promptly lost to the staff as we entered two teams, but our game goes down as a very fond memory. Food - All meals were excellent with a huge choice each sitting, breakfast and lunch every day and 4 dinners.

Just returned from a week at the Messini Beachclub. Possibly one of the best holidays I've ever had. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. First, the flight out on a chartered BA flight left bang on time. Great service from the BA cabin crew. On arrival, we wizzed through immigration at the small airport in Kalamata to be be met by friendly Neilson staff who directed us onto the coach for a 20 min transfer to the resort. We then had a week of unbroken sunshine, with temperatures hovering around 28 degC throughout the day. As a tennis novice, I signed up for the beginner group. Mark Petchey was coaching this week together with Jack, Joe and Tom. Tennis coaching was absolutely superb by this very hard working team - sincere thanks to you all. I ended the week keen to play more tennis and join my local club. My children loved kids club and made new friends. Special mention to Ryan, who injected so much energy and kept the kids enthused throughout the week. Food was varied and plentiful. Greek and UK staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Overall, a brilliant week and excellent value. Already looking to book again, possibly in May next year but certainly in October 2020. Kalamata is far enough south so you have a good chance of sunshine even as late as October.

When you spend £4000 on a weeks holiday you expect the customer service to at least be helpful. Not with these guys. Maybe if there are no issues, this is a great resort but Neilson just don’t want to help and are rude when you ask. We booked a group holiday with a number of families and Neilson cancelled everyone in our group due to thomas cook, apart from us and had no interest in helping our friends get to the resort or moving us to be with them. We then had a dilemma around childcare as we have three very young children and the families in the group planned to help. Neilson told us there was plenty of space in the crèche (9 spaces!) a week before we planned to go so we were not too worried. We came to book and they told us all 2 spaces had gone! I enquired about bringing childcare, but again not able to. But when I did quiz customer services more on this I was told not to interrupt. Holidays should be something exciting you look forward to. These guys have done a good job to make sure that doesn’t happen. I used Neilson in the 90’s for a ski trip and it was another disaster, what was I thinking this time!
