My partner and I spent 2 weeks at Buca Neilson in Sept 2019 and we loved our holiday. The minor things that could be improved upon (we felt) were - there was no welcome drink and the food was lame on arrival from Birmingham and slightly hungry at 3pm it didn't set a good expectation. There were minimal instructions re the alacarte and buffet nights and the fact you do need to book into the alacarte restaurant as it gets very busy - 7.30 - 8.00 were usually booked out very quickly. Once you got the hang of the system it was pretty smooth sailing! The activities and the amount of instruction as well as enthusiasm made us feel very welcome and special and ALL the instructors did Neilson proud. Overall this was a very expensive holiday with the drinks being beyond UK prices and the excursions - although excellent were very costly for what they were in our view - they should be discounted by at least 20% - 30% The area is great to explore but the random vicious dogs made us abit apprehensive at times.. The staff including Olga in reception and Fortini, Marcel and Zaira in the restaurant made our stay truly welcoming :-) - Thank you x - Also not to forget our brilliant cleaner ... We personally would have liked more cross over between Buca and Messini so we could get involved in water polo etc (we didn't know these were on as they weren't part of the Buca timetable - which was a shame).. and the entertainment at night needs to be improved - its non existent in both hotels in our view. Shows and greek dancing would be a start...

We went for a Week as it was our first Neilson’s holiday, but wished we went for 2. Staff all excellent, especially water sports (Windsurfing, SUP, water skiing) and cycling. I can’t comment on other areas like tennis lessons which I wish I tried. Social tennis was fun. Food excellent. Rooms clean. Drinks a little expensive, but good. Would highly recommend, and look forward to going on another Neilson holiday soon.

Fantastic in every way. I just read some of the negative reviews an they clearly were not staying at Buca and reviewed the wrong place! Some talk about bungalows, poor food and their kids. This is an an adult only resort, there are no bungalows and the foods is sublime! Can,t recommend Buca highly enough.

We went to Buca in August and think we came away fitter than we arrived. There is so much to do, to the point that my other half and I would tell each other when we would see the other for lunch and dinner. The transfer was super quick. We arrived from Birmingham and had welcome drinks and nibbles served at 3:30 which were welcomed!! The cost of drinks was expensive therefore we borrowed a couple of hybrid bikes and went to my market & Lidl in Messini and stocked up with gin and beer, which certainly lessened the blow! The al la carte nights were lovely and as too were the buffet nights for €15. The food was fresh and nice. However at breakfast the omelette / egg chef would disappear. The poached eggs in the tray were more than overdone and the English style sliced bread was stale. We were generally busy in the mornings but always found a cabana after lunchtime. The beach was lovely however we couldn’t swim in the sea due to the number of windsurfers and sailers in the swimming area - please just put some bouys out! The waterskiing team were great with two free pulls a week. The waterfront team were just bone idle lazy. The boats were often rigged incorrectly, many of the boats were broken and the safety boat staff were just bored and unhelpful. For someone who regularly sails slightly bigger boats, but learnt as a child at a Mark Warner holiday, I can honestly say dingy sailing here was dindgy. Trying to send people out in boats with ripped sails, broken rudders and broken hulls is just disappointing and unsafe. I did green tennis and the team were absolutely fab. The social tennis was great as they paired you to equal ability and you really notice how quick you progress during the week. Overall, we loved the holiday but the small niggles of breakfast and waterfront staff really frustrated us.

First timers with Neilson at the Buca beach club for a week. The arrival from Gatwick into the Kalamata followed by the 20min transfer, dropping the majority at Messini, a minute to two down the road was not the slightest bit cumbersome. Despite the airport proximity we weren’t disturbed by aircraft at all during the week. We found the x4 a la Carte evenings split across x2 menus with delicious. Added specials are worth a selection! The meal balance seemed just right allowing optional (pay) buffet and lobster nights with local Taverna options (x3 of them 10mins walk up the road) for the remaining dinning ventures. Breakfast supplied all we required and lunch allowed delicious salad explorations. Nibbles were also available at the Buca pool bar whilst enjoying sunset cocktail hours. The Monday, 9am briefing was a good opportunity to meet and chat to l the teams and understand how everything worked. We participated in cycling, sailing, paddle boarding, waterskiing and spa sessions (massage/skin care) and rock climbing (roughly and hour away in the mountains), Tuition from the ultra helpful and enthusiastic activities teams was excellent.) The equipment was first rate. Standard Boardman bikes were a delight with elite frames also available for the week, set for rider specifics. We particularly enjoyed the array of water sports and he predictable, early lovely calm to afternoon turbulent conditions allowed guests to plan their day accordingly. Rooms were on a good size, clean, comfortable and quiet. In-room refreshments were a nice touch. Evening entertainment seemed light across both resorts however, as most days filled with activities following by dinner perhaps that was for the best! We learnt Latin dancing one evening and strap-up for bonkers bingo with Ryan! Thanks to Zoe in the restaurant for her excellent service and we hope to Buca very soon for a return visit!
