This place is just fun. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to the Herb suite which was wonderful and very unique. Setting of the hotel is beautiful, on spectacular coastline and taking a boat out for a day around the coast and island is a must. Lovely food - only downside is that there is no pool for adults or swimming as the only pool is taken up with kids and floats etc. However, we had a great time. Food was surprisingly good for a “hotel” - though not sure that you would call Ekies a hotel - it’s more a collection of rooms! Good restaurants nearby too!

We had a wonderful family holiday at Ekies with our 13 and 15 year old children. Stayed in a large suite, which was beautifully designed and located between the pool, restaurants and beach so a great position in the resort. The hotel impressed us with its unique design features, excellent service at the restaurant, bar and on the beach and very comfortable sun loungers. Although busy being August, it never felt crowded and there was always loungers available on beach and around the pool and seats with an amazing view in the bar, which has a cool vibe and is right next to the beach to enjoy the sunset. There isn’t much we would improve but perhaps a little more activities for older children would be good e.g a table tennis/pool tables, as there isn’t much in the local area and water sports in Vourvourou Bay seem to be limited to paddle boarding and windsurfing due to the bay being protected so no jet skis or water skiing allowed. We hired a boat and there are some absolutely beautiful secluded swimming spots only accessible by boat, we were given a map to find the best and safest places to drop anchor and swim. There was a good choice at breakfast and good eat all around menu which could be taken anywhere in the hotel. We also tried some of the local restaurants in walking distance, Melia was very good with live music a couple of nights each week and Paris restaurant gave us an authentic Greek taverna menu. Big Top pizza, just outside hotel by the car park was also a hit with the kids and the beach bar, a short stroll along the beach was good value for a light lunch. We would definitely return, this is a gem of a hotel in a gorgeous location and made for a very relaxing holiday.

What is really great, is that when you get into Ekies something magic happens and you live your holidays like in a parallel world. Just you arrive in the reception music and smile capture you. In the morning music and wonderful breakfast give you the right charge for the rest of the day. At the beginning I didn’t understand why there wasn’t road signs to get to the resort…after living in Ekies I agree with their mission: don’t need to be like the others, be exclusive! Keep going!!

What an amazing place. I spent a week here with my husband and two children (11 & 13), and wished it was much longer. As we were arriving late in the evening we asked the hotel to arrange a private transfer from the airport which was the simplest way for us and cost €130. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. A separate bedroom with sliding doors for mum and dad and the large cushioned area in eaves made up as a bed for the children. This area was huge and actually large enough to sleep all of us (which we sometimes did as it was closer to the air-conditioning). The bedroom had a small balcony with table and two chairs and the terrace was off the main living area with the jacuzzi and sunbeds and another table and chairs for 4. And a stunning view! The bathroom had a bath with handheld shower and there was also a large separate shower. I wouldn't recommend this suite for two couples as suggested on the website though. The main shower is right next to the door of the suite and there is no curtain or closure so not very private - fine for a family unit, but maybe not so much for two couples or a group of friends. Plenty of shower gels, lotions, shampoo etc, so no need to bring your own. Everything was clean and tidy and the room was cleaned every day. A few little bits of maintenance could just take the hotel to the next level, but they are not things that we felt the need to complain about or affected our stay in any way. A lovely plate of fruit and bottle of wine greeted us on arrival and also a free foot spa!! There is a large fridge which can store several bottles of water. The staff were great and always smiling and ready to answer any questions. Special mention to Anastasia and Dimitri (hope I've spelled that correct!) on the front desk who were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fabulous - so much choice. As other reviewers have said, yes, there were a few wasps but we realised on the first day that they really like the bacon so we avoided having bacon for the rest of our stay and they did not bother us. Covid restrictions were followed by everyone at breakfast by using a plastic glove to serve your food and wearing a mask whilst at the buffet. We had drinks and food from the beach bar during our stay which was always great, the club sandwiches were perfect for the children as a late lunch. Mainly we explored the local restaurants for meals. Paris is a few minutes walk along the beach, great food and very good prices. Pizza Top had great pizzas but the service was a bit chaotic. Melia is a few minutes walk from the hotel by Karydi beach and was probably the best meal of the holiday, a little more pricey than the others but still reasonable. The pool was lovely. Although the hotel was full - the pool never seemed over crowded and there was always plenty of places to sit, sunbeds or beanbags etc. Some afternoons we even found ourselves with the pool to ourselves. Occasionally a few random children that didn't appear to belong to any guests came to the pool and were quite noisy (maybe local children?). The lifeguard was always there to make sure no one was jumping in or misbehaving. The pool is very deep and the only shallow area is by the steps, so those with younger children tended to stay over that side of the pool. My children are bigger so it was perfect for us but could do with a bit more of a shallow area for smaller ones, although saying that, there is a separate splash pool for toddlers too. Plenty more sunbeds on and around the beach/pier and hammocks. There are many boat rental companies along the sea front and the water is a bit nicer if you walk along to the left from the hotel. Or Karydi beach is a few minutes walk out of the hotel the other direction, the water here is very clear with not so many boats and the sand is lovely. Renting a boat is a must (approx €80 per day for the smallest boat). We used GetWet who are just to the right of the hotel. We spent a whole day exploring the island of Diaporos and also spent some time at Lagonisi - so many lovely beaches and crystal blue waters to swim in. We took a packed lunch from the hotel with us €12 each for a sandwich, muffins, fruit and water. If you're going at a busy time, I suggest getting a boat booked at the beginning of your stay to make sure they have availability. There is a small supermarket about 5 minutes walk from the hotel - we found it easiest to walk along the beach to Paris restaurant then onto the main road to get to it. It has everything you could possibly want and lots of fresh fruit and veg. We considered hiring a car before arriving but glad we didn't. If you want to explore Halkidiki then yes you'll need a car but we were happy to have a week of relaxing by the pool and beach. We did take a taxi to Nikiti one evening for a change of scenery (€20), however, it was very busy there - lots of restaurants along the beach front but too many people!! We also took a taxi to Ormos Panagias beach (€15) where there was an inflatable water park in the sea. €7.50 each for the entire day to use the water park!! you get a wristband and a life jacket and can use it all you like. I would definitely return here. The quirky unique designs around the hotel make it a very special place. Everywhere was kept clean and there is lots of greenery. Although I can't comment on what any of the other rooms were like, they all seemed to be quite private which was nice. Even those with their own plunge pools were hidden behind garden areas. I would also just add that a lot of the photos on TripAdvisor are out of date - we had seen a picture with a large room with a pool table which would have been ideal for my boys when they'd had too much sun, but unfortunately this no longer exists. They did however, enjoy finding a corner of the beach bar to chill out and run up a nice bill ordering the delicious milkshakes 😂

We arrived thinking it was going to be a similar experience as the one we recently had at the Maldives for the price you pay the room and the photos you see on the website. This is not! The place is nice but definitely not a luxury experience. Food was good and breakfast was excellent but while you eat you get wasps every were and lots of people got stung while eating ( our boy did) . The designed the hotel was probably made to fit less guests as It feel we were cramped in a small place. The buildings are in need of serious maintenance and there was no attention to details ( they use cable wire to hang curtains and our bedroom room door was not fully painted) . The first impression of the hotel is good but do not look in details. I guess this is a good place if yo have young children as the whole area is not big and the beach is calm. But would definitely not choose this place for a honeymoon type place. Staff was nice and welcoming. Overall a mixed experience you make your own choice
