Great hotel with nice swimming pools on a great location near the picturesque town of Molivos. Time has taken a little toll on maintenance and rooms could be cleaner, but still we could it enjoy enough. A must visit are the restaurants in Molivos that are located somewhat halfway the hill, they have the most breathtaking views from their balconies. For sandy beaches rent a car or take the bus and enjoy swimming at Skala Kallonis, also the water there has a much more comfortable temperature (if you do not like cold water).

Only the swimming pools are 4 stars level or more...But the rest...My God! The bedroom was really old, in the basement with mosquitos and small ants, but most... We have had big problems with air conditioning and wifi! TV is something to smile about... DVD player... Never seen. The staff was little inclined to solve the problems... Good luck

The Viva Mare is a lovely hotel about 1.5 miles out of Molyvos. We have just had a very good stay and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is set in very well kept grounds and has 5 pools. 2 of the pools are in the spa and you do have to pay to use them. There is also a sauna and little gym in that area. The other 2 main pools and childrens pool are down by the little bit of beach which also has sunbeds. The rooms are clean and comfortable although the beds were a little firm for us. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed several times during the week. Small toiletries and soap are provided. There is free wifi throughout the hotel including the rooms. There is a tv but it didn't have a lot of channels. We didn't use it. It does have a dvd player attached. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was nice although it didn't vary much daily making choices limited for vegetarians. There are a selection of hot and cold foods. The best item was the Greek yoghurt. Choices range from cereals, yoghurt, tinned fruit, cakes, biscuits, bread, toast, croissants, cold meats, sliced cheese, cooked eggs & omelette, bacon & sausages. The hotel run a bus service into Molyvos 4 times a day which was helpful. However the last bus is 8.30pm so no late night pick up unlike the other hotels in the same area. The walk was ok for us although I would recommend a torch until they replace several street lights along the route. 2 small parts are unpaved but mostly pavement all the way. It does go up and down a bit. A taxi is 5 euros in May. The hotel is building another block next door to the main hotel building but we didn't find it very disturbing other than at breakfast. The whole area around Molyvos now has signed walk and cycle routes, most of which include off road parts. We did a nice walk over to Petra. We hired a car from Nikos just under the cobbled street leading up to the traditional market area and had a very good car and no problems. We visited Skala Sikaminias which is a lovely little harbour village. The Roman Aquaduct at Moria. We couldn't find the bit shown in the middle of the countryside on the maps. Skala Kallonis for the bird life and did a quick detour to the Kremasti Bridge which is worth a quick stop and climb. Go via Agia Paraskevi and it is paved all the way. Molyvos is a lovely resort for a holiday with it's meandering cobbled streets to get lost in and the castle sat at the top and looks good at night. Not if you have walking difficulties as it is quite steep in places. We're glad that a tour operator in the UK has finally started flying into Lesvos again.
