We had not been to Crete before and we took a chance on Hotel Phaedra in Stalos based on the great reviews of other guests. Our stay there exceeded our expectations in every way. Nikos, his family and all the staff at the hotel provided outstanding customer care with genuine warmth and interest in their guests' needs. The studio apartment that we stayed in was spotless and very comfortable with toiletries provided as well as a daily cleaning service. The hotel is situated on the beach with fantastic views from the balcony and all general hotel areas There is a lovely pool with sun beds and a pool bar and even private sun loungers on the beach itself. In short, everything needed for an excellent holiday. The fact that this is a family run hotel shows in every aspect of how it is run with a really personal touch from Nikos and all involved in giving their guests a truly great holiday experience. We cannot rate Hotel Phaedra highly enough and will definitely return there if we go back to Chania. 10 out of 10 from us. Thanks to everyone at the Phaedra hotel for an amazing holiday.

We spent 10 days at Phaedra hotel and had a very pleasant stay. Nikos and his staff satisfied any our request immediately. It is an apartments complex directly on the beach with a nice swimming pool. I must admit that at first from the pictures and the reviews I had higher expectations about the apartment but it was totally fine and well furnished. Breakfast is not provided but you can get it from the pool bar. Phaedra hotel is directly on the sea side on one of the best beach spot as the beach is wide and distant from the other hotels. Beach umbrellas and chairs are available and beach towels are provided too. There are also sand and inflatable toys for kids. The cleaning lady comes every day; a service which I really appreciated as with 2 small kids it was a big help for me. The only critic I have is that the mattress was too soft. Stalos is basically only a road on the both sides of which there are restaurants, minimarkets and different types of accommodation. You find everything you need in walk distance. Chania (very nice the old town) and the airport are a 30 minutes drive and you can reach some of the best attractions of Creta like Balos, Elafonisis, Samaria gorges very easily. In general we had a very nice and relaxing holiday and I can´t but recommend this place and Phaedra hotel.

Reviews. .good or bad we all read them , to help us source our holiday choices.. we travelled to chania Crete on Aug with 2018 to stay in the phaedra hotel, stalos... like you right now reading my review.,,I also read so many on different areas in chania. I read one review that hit a cord it said ., stop right now and book the phederea you won't be disappointed. . At this stage I was weeks looking for the perfect family holiday. Our first holiday in 12 YEARS and 4 were travelling I needed to cover all our likes .. so i read this review and others on the phederea and each one was more convincing than the last ..so we booked on booking. Com. Nicko the owner rang us to confirm all and he offered to order us a taxi to pick us up. We had a late arrival and nicko was there to welcome and great us. That night we went to sleep so excited to see what day would bring.. We stayed in room 201 the view from our balcony was breathtaking , the sea in front of us and side view of the sea. The flowers and cleanliness of this hotel just says it all . The pool is so beautiful no chlorine which was also one of the reasons we booked here as we have asthma chlorine free was just wonderful. Beautiful sunloungers umbrellas and beautiful grey beachtowels. No need to pack towels,,, your own private beach again with sunloungers and umbrellas the beach is golden so beautiful with lifeguards .you really need to stay here to appreciate the surreal feeling when in the pool how at one with the beach and sea you are. Total paradise. This hotel is family run for this reason alone is the reason it's so perfect. They care for every person as if we were family, a small hotel with the quality of a five-star hotel. Niko his mum his dad care so deeply about their beautiful gem we as guests apppriciated and loved every minute there . Georgia the beautiful bar lady who is just the breath of fresh air each day, a coffe and chat , a fab chicken salad, pizza, clubsandwich .. Georgia is the women who has the magic touch. A great pool bar service, drinks icecreams . We meet people from Norway, Holland, Germany, England, Greece ,italy, such a variety of guests can only lead to interesting pool conversation and great for our children to all meet. Stalos is quiet which we wanted . Great pizzas and bakery few doors away...a few bus rides away you have platanias with lots of night life You must go to chania town it's beauty is breathtaking . We loved our stay at the phederea leaving was very emotional for us as this was a very needed holiday and we were so great full we found a gem to add to our hearts. The accomadation is beautiful especially the bathrooms such fantastic showers a mix of natural stone, wood , slate , a mix of nature . The room was cleaned every day, great amount of towels and beautiful shampoo, soap, bottles, bathrobes and slippers such v.I.p treatment. We can not thank you all enough at the phederea for all you did, forever in our hearts , jason, Caroline, Alex, faye from ireland xxxx

First, I want to start with how amazing the Greek culture is. On the fight to Athens, we found our surrounding passengers helpful and hospitable. They shared must see places and tips on Greek culture. Then on our flight to Crete, we met the most wonderful person that helped us all the way until we left the airport. Likewise, we found Nikos to be just like our friends from the airport, friendly and very hospitable. Nikos was friendly even over the phone and emailing for the reservation. He went over and above to help us arrive to the hotel, even late at night. He helped us reserve a car from the hotel and stayed awake to meet us well after midnight. The hotel is an amazing place, so well kept and comfortable. Our room was perfect for us and our 4 year old son. The beach was just a couple steps away set with beach/pool towels and beach chairs. The beach was so clean and the water was clear. My son fell in love with Nikos, he wanted to give him high fives and eat sweets with him. Nikos helped us with dinner reservations and helping us secure tickets to excursions (even though we did not go due to weather). The hotel grounds was perfect for a family on holiday. The pool has a very shallow side for young children and there is even a toy box full of pool and sand toys. The neighborhood has charming restaurants and shops. We found walking on the sidewalk or on the beach very pleasing. Now, let me share about Georgia who runs the pool bar. From the first morning my husband met her, she was an automatic friend. Then we all met her and fell in love with her. The drinks and food is amazing, you really do not have to leave the hotel for anything. But more than food and drink, she was kind, friendly, sweet and charming. My son loved giving her hugs and watching her make orange juice. I can go on and on about how Phaedra Hotel is such a wonderful magical place. My son often ask to go back to see Nikos and Ms. Georgia. The hotel is a family run hotel and we loved meeting Nikos’ parents. It was so hard for us to leave and say goodbye to Nikos and Ms. Georgia, we loved each minute with them. I would say if you are in Crete, Phaedra Hotel is a must stay, but also I would say everyone should go to Crete just so they can stay at Phaedra Hotel. It was truly a home away from home…true paradise!
