We had a slight hiccough on arrival and had to spend first night away but it was all very smoothly sorted. A most generous and unexpected compensation package more that made up for the inconvenience. All staff were exceptionally pleasant especially Oriana and Lurdes, thank you girls!! Splendid views over Funchal from room balcony and pool terrace. Breakfast buffet the...

Started off badly when we arrived and no room for us. We were taken to another hotel in the group for one night. We booked through Expedia and there paperwork said no need to ring and confirm. Wish we had. If hotel had our details, then why didn't they contact us and direct us to the other hotel for the...

Staff were faultless, so friendly and accommodating. Food was amazing. The hotel itself....some of the decor was a bit tired looking. The beds were to hard for us and the pillows we didn't like. The views from our room were amazing. Very quiet location which suited us down to the ground. We hired a car, the roads are a bit...

If you want night life, this is not for you. If you want really posh, this is not for you. The staff are excellent, excellent food both at the hotel and in the village. The view is good, nice pool and pleasant gardens. There are places in the hotel where elegant history meets modern hotel architecture. The photographs mainly stress...

This hotel was excellent value for money. The room was lovely, the staff attentive and polite, the food excellent and the scenery wonderful. There is a charming old building, used for dining and a bar, and the main rooms area is built into the side of the mountain. The courtesy bus into Funchal itself was very welcome.I will be going...

My wife and I visited in November 2015. At this time of year the hotel is quiet, but the service was highly attentive and courteous st all times and the weather generally good. A small gripe, which many have made, is that wi-fi is available only on the hotel lobby, but this was not our NEWSmain priority. In November the...

We stayed here during our round trip around Madeira. Our overall experience with the hotels outside of Funchal was that they were less in quality (but cheaper) than those in Funchal, but this was one of the better ones. We had some problems reaching the hotel, with road works going on and poor indication of alternative route. Luckily there was...
