The hotel is nice the people are very nice but the owners of the hotel robbed me by charging me 298.00 of overcharges, I had already paid my bill but they demanded 298.00 Euros for nothing, I emailed the company to explain why they were charging me this no - reply I also tried ringing them no-reply.

Recently visited and tbf for the price we weren't expecting much. The staff were friendly enough however the issue was with the room. Basics missing such as shower curtain, working lights, working aircon not even a kettle (come on I am British a morning cuppa is a must). A double room was booked for a romantic holiday however, we got a room with 2 single beds. Every evening we would push the beds together and remake so we could sleep together and everyday we would return to find 2 seperate beds again. Most worrying was the broken patio doors which made it impossible to lock and therefore any security was very much lacking. It is a good job we had a hire car as everyday we would have to take all our belongings out with us. The only positive I can mention is the view from the balcony was amazing and every morning we could watch the sun rise over the sea. All in all I would find it very hard to recommend to anyone.

Pass on this hotel. The dining area immediately outside my door is just starting to quiet down at 0100 as the staff member, her friends, and family start to disperse for the evening. Our requests for quiet are met with “it’s just one night.” This property is near exactly nothing you want to see on this amazing island.

Did my research and wasn't expecting perfection. but OMG ..... this was obviously built to be 4 star and above but the maintenance has not been even close to being adequate. arrived and was shown to our room. initially looked clean and as we checked the apartment out we found the aircon was not working . I went to the reception and was told by the clerk that the aircon was broken through out the hotel and had been for months. on return to my room my wife had found several issues . The apartment was superficially clean and on closer inspection there were numerous faults. paint damaged broken bath panel damaged /missing crockery etc.. we complained to travel republic and they arranged to find a room with "working aircon " . this room was worse than the first room with large cracks in the wall and a smashed window. broken ( double glazed so posed no real problem just symptomatic of the poor maintenance of what obviously had been a 4 star hotel. the aircon did not work it had a fan that worked but did not affect the room temperature as the filter at the front end was blocked up completely. The staff were nice and helpful as far as they could within the constraints of the crumbling poorly maintained building. location is out of the way and half way up a mountain. madeira is one big mountain and expect mountain driving with nearly all roads having very high double figure inclines. there is nothing near this hotel and the nearest store is 20 minute walk away. nice fresh bread though. if you want quiet this hotel has that in abundance and with a hire car easy reach of funchal etc.. Photo.s are seriously out of date

The studio apartment was very well designed and laid out, as well as being spotlessly maintained. The jacuzzi was a great surprise and the view was fantastic - over the Atlantic. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The apartments are situated high on a hill overlooking Santa Cruz so you need to take this into account if you are not a walker or hiring a car. Cannot review food as we were out all the time and didn't try this. We would certainly go there again.
