Lovely atmosphere - welcomes in what felt very genuine way by host. Great food, especially the pizza, where they use Gouda rather than mozzarella. Only issue was parking - but that seems a problem for all of Pelekas.

Got there at 04.30 and we were told they were fully booked up and the only place they had was a flat let of 3 bedrooms and we had to pay bedroom tax of 21euro which we were never told about. after 16 hours of being there my granddaughter was using the managers computer trying to get us a flight home. I will be putting more comments on here shortly...

Ate here on our first night in Pelekas and had a lovely meal with very friendly service and wonderful view of the sunset. Staters and mains were excellent and of a high quality. Returned a few days later and again the service was friendly and welcoming however we were told they were short of 1 staff member and we could only assume it was the chief! Different quality of food altogether, with the mussels being completely tasteless. It was a shame as we had enjoyed our previous visit so much. Worth visiting though as our second visit may have been a one off.

Alexandros is the reason this pension/restaurant is so excellent. Extremely friendly and charming, with excellent English (from visits to York) he runs the place from morning to night. It is 2* accomodation, so do not expect luxury, but a good, clean room and excellent value is what you get, with a fridge and a view from your balcony to die for, and Alexandros to look after you. We met guests who returned year after year. Old Pelegas itself is an authentic old greek village, with windy narrow lanes/alleys, whitewashed buildings and a few old ruins. Many an artist has stayed there. It is only a mile from the excellent Pelekas beach, but it is 900 feet above sea level. There is a coutesy bus from Pelekas bus stop to a beachside hotel that Alexandros says the driver will allow you to join, or you can walk it - we did! The Corfu town (blue) bus goes from the bus stop 500 yards down the main road and it only takes 20 minutes - well worth the 1.60 euro fare. If you want a supermarket, try the one 100 yds down the Glyfada road (nice old bloke runs it). Glyfada beach is well known for its beauty and is just over 2 miles away (again, walked it), but there is (green) bus from there which gets you up most of the hill when you come back with a further mile to walk. Alternatively, hire a car, there is parking by the entrance to Pelegas. If you are getting a taxi to/from the airport, ask Alexandros and he will arrange one at a better rate than you will get from the internet. My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there, and had an excellent holiday in somewhere truly, authetically greek, charming in its simplicity and friendlyness.

Excellent value for money accommodation with great food in the taverna. Alex, Spiros and family are great hosts and extremely friendly. Highly recommended. Good base from which to explore the surrounding hills, beaches and countryside.
