luxurius hotel, nice room ( junior suite with private pool), nice bath, QUITE room and very nice roof garden. They had appropriate measures for Covid. Breakfast was good but they must add ALL types of coffee and not only filter coffee. The whole area was very nice and relaxant. Really value for money, we strongly reccomend it Very polite manager in the hotel
You will have street dogs running and barking under your table when having breakfast, lunch or dinner, also at the roof bar and around the pool. If you are afraid of dogs or might care about the diseases they might have eating inside the restaurant will not help you. When you talk to the waiter, they know only 1 dog that is allowed everywhere and they don't know about the other dogs around your table. Reception will tell they give them food so they come back, but they don't believe you that the dogs are inside of the restaurant or at the roof bar. They will tell they will make sure it will not happen again, but the next they the same thing. You can not eat at peace is dogs are looking for every chance to grab some food. Each time talking to the reception (and their supervisor) was a disappointment. They don't provide you with correct information. Reservation for Restaurant only possible on the day before, until 20:00. We came to make the reservation on Saturday at 12:00, they said the restaurant is opened only Wednesday to Saturday. So it was possible only at the beginning of our stay, but one told us that. So you can't use what you paid for. Also, the female Supervisor of the reception gets very loud, does not listen at all to what you say and threats you rather as an employee, and gives you orders. You are not threatening as a paying customer by the reception. We had to pay the taxes at the hotel again, even though it was included when we paid for our stay. The First 2 times they told us it should be 28 EUR, in the end we paid 20 EUR. Even though It was stated on the voucher that taxes are included and the booking agency confirmed that via e-mail we should have not paid anything more on check-in or check-out, because the taxes were included. It was not the only hotel we stayed at Crete so we did know we are right. But the reception and the supervisor are very ignorant. In the end, we will get a refund from our booking agency, but the hotel can not handle any questions or discussions with their customers. the hotel good, but does not differ much from any 4-star hotel we stayed in Greece or Crete. Could have been a nice stay but the steet dogs and the reception made it unpleasant…
Was told by tour operator that our hotel had been changed to Solimar only 5 days before our holiday began. We decided to go despite the change. We were glad we did as our room with private pool was superb and not overlooked. However, we were supposed to have a sea view but overlooked a scrubland area. However when speaking to a very helpful Receptionist, Ioanna, she upgraded us from silver wristbands to gold which meant we could order more variety of drinks from bar. I give 5 star to the staff who are friendly, offer great customer service and go beyond their duties to help in any way they can. Special thanks to Ioanna and Felicia on Reception, barmen Kostas and Gianis who worked very hard serving drinks in the bar and Carolina who kept us company in the bar after taking darts, water polo, etc. The main Pool was a perfect temperature with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The pool bar very handy for snacks, ice cream and drinks. Our only negative was the variety of food which I did raise with the manager. It was mostly the same every day and we did go out for our evening meals the last 3 days of our holidays. Not really of 5 star standard compared to other hotels of the same rating. There is an a la carte restaurant which you can book once a week and it has a limited menu but food was satisfactory. This is the reason for giving the hotel a 4 star rating and the fact it is located at quite a distance from a main town but the bonus is there is a bus stop outside and we took the bus several times into Platanias (10 minutes) and Chania (30 minutes). There wasn't much in the way of evening entertainment, just a singer once a week. More entertainment would be beneficial. The beach is a very short walk and there are a few free sunbeds and parasols down there. Surprisingly even though it was a small beach, it had its own life guard who I chatted to most days. Some days we were the only people on the beach. It was heaven and we loved swimming in the sea. We hope that the hotel management takes notes of our comments and can improve in future and we would be happy to return again. Thank you Solimar Aquamarine for enabling us to visit your hotel during the Covid 19 pandemic which standards were kept very high. We are missing it there already. …
This is the best hotel I have ever been! Everyone are super nice and helpful, the food is great - for breakfast you can eat either English breakfast or oatmeal, fruits and so on. Many options also for lunch and dinner - pork, chicken, amazing fish, black rice with seafood and a lot of tasty vegetables. We have also the room with private pool which I highly recommend! I hope I will have a chance to visit other Solimar hotels in the future ☺️
First of all, I would like to praise the staff who are wonderful. The staff strike the perfect balance between professionality and being social with the guests. Good facilities in the hotel. The pool area for children is great for small kids. Clean hotel. The gym is great for a hotel gym. Food is above average for an all-inclusive hotel. We did miss some barbecued meat - that would heighten the level of the buffet considerably. The a la carte restaurant is fantastic. We would have liked more options in the pool bar. Options like fresh orange juice and milkshakes are not included in all inclusive. We stayed at the hotel in August during the Corona pandemic, so we did not experience the bars being too busy or the hotel being crowded. You could - for instance - always find sunbeds. The staff and hotel were very professional as to what regards corona-precautions. Overall, I would stay at the hotel again, mainly because of the staff. Some barbequed meat and more drinks options included in all inclusive would be my only (minor) suggestions.…
