Firstly, the location is really nice, very close to the Slovenian border, and the swimming in particular is excellent; a pine forest surrounds the lagoon creating shade, and there's lots of space to base yourself. The water is very clear. In the distance you can see the Slovenian coast with the resort of Portorož across. There's a decent taverna, the fish was nice; plus another place where you can have a drink or a simple meal. There's also a small cafe on the beach. Be aware that the beach is made of quite thick and sharp stones so it's essential to have beach shoes, entering the water could pose a problem if you have poor mobility. Parking is generally available close to the apartments. Now the negatives. The staff aren't very friendly, at least in my experience. The apartment we got was rather shoddy and for 130+ euros a night we expected better. Microwave: broken. Fridge not very good. Toilet sear broke. The next day the toilet flush broke. The clothes drier was rusty and broken. The power plugs are a bit awkward (difficulty plugging my adaptor). No aircon, no fans. Limited crockery and limited glasses and cups. No carving knife. No bottle opener. Only two convection heaters to cook. Limited pans. Very basic. To be fair most of these issues were fixed when we asked, but it's not exactly good.…
We are visiting Kanegra for about 4 years now. It is not that we are very happy with service that makes us come back. As a matter of fact service is far from American standard of going out of way to help customer. Staff is not trained on fact that customer is always right no matter how much of the wrong things they do. People there should learn to anticipate customer's thinking, not expect the customer know how their internal procedures work. People at reception should be made aware that they are the face of the company, not the management. Therefore they should be given more flexibility in accommodating wishes of the customer. I can also tell that younger staff members are getting this, but they can't fight the system. Over the years I have not seen much investment into the potentially lucrative business. This was the first time they did SOMETHING. Chrome railing on some of the pathways to the beach! Railings look really good, but in light of their profit margin I would call it a shame on their part. Seems to me that all they (owners) want is to milk the cow indefinitely without feeding it too much. I have no respect for business owners like this (croatian immigrants from Chile). There is so much more that could be done on this space. Right now it looks more like one of these places from Social-Realism pictures of the past. WiFi is another disgrace of this: You have to pay for internet access in age where you get it everywhere for free. And when you pay for it you can only hook up one device per account. Wow, talking about control freaks! So why we are still returning? Little things that make this for us bearable. The Cafe owner on the beach Djelal (Gelal) is everything the whole Kanegra resort is not. Very personable, flexible, friendly and customer oriented. He hooked up my whole family on his house-made "Krempita"! He's got his own shop in nearby town of Buje. He works very hard with his two sons and my kids love him. Boat, jet ski and chair renting concessionaire Ivica. The girl in restaurant Diana and Manager Mirsad. These are the people that adopted that concept of having the guest first in mind and that keep many people come back even though the whole place is need of major revamping. Facilities and Staff training! I wish them all the best and that they finally realize cow will only keep giving milk for so much time without quality food!…
Our bungalow for 5 people was surprisingly very clean and the bungalow was cleaned by the cleaning crew twice a week. We spent 11 nice days there. The beach front was equally very clean and the water quality, perfect. We totally enjoyed the food at the Lama restaurant which is just a few meters away from the beach front. Never a dull time at the resort. If you enjoy jogging, Nordic walking, cycling and so on, you've got plenty of space to do it. The holiday would have been perfect if we didn't have to pay for the Wi-Fi in order to have access to the internet. We spent almost €18.00 per person for 10 days for the Wi-Fi. The bungalows themselves are nice with ageing furnitures and sometimes, depending on where your bungalow is,you have to drive uphill to get there. Most guests like us have to carry our luggages uphill to the bungalow. It was very strenuous. We enjoyed our stay here and will probably visit again in the nearest future. …
The staff is very unfriendly. The appartments are old and not well-equiped. The beds are old and noisy. It's built on hillside, the appartments are all at the top so you need to climb way too much every time you want to buy food, want to swim or whatever you want. But honestly you don't feel like leaving your room because on the way back you'll feel you want to throw your lungs up. The only good thing is Taverna Lama which has a good kitchen and a sweet blond waitress.
the appartments are old and from another millenium, but for a relaxed vaccation with car and kids it is indeed a cheap and good solution. Most of the important everyday stuff you will find inside Kanegra park. The kitchens and bathrooms in the bungalows are simple but full functioning. In case of need any repair is fast and the staff is helpfull and friendly!
Pictures of the bungalow on the internet are beautiful. But in reality bungalows are really old and extremely small without any isolation and air conditioning. That is why they are very hot. Also the service is bad and arrogant.
At very good value for money you can spend perfect time here. Its fast and easy to reach an d good start for tours , no matter if with car or bicycle or by foot - I just love the place with the small bays and beachs and a great coffee bar down at the waterfront.
Our experience with Kanegra Resorts was good overall. Four of us rented a bungalow at Kanegra resorts. It was quaint and not very luxurious, but very clean and definitely a great value for money. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the way of amenities, but the location was excellent. It was just a short drive to the nearest city, Umag. It was very near other excursions, as well, such as zip lining in Pazen, and Aquaworld. The sea was beautiful and the forest was an excellent habitat. The bungalow was very clean. We purchased half board and very much enjoyed breakfast and dinner. I most enjoyed the location of the sea from our bungalow which was 300 meters away. Every morning it was lovely to wake up before dawn, walk down to the sea to meditate, workout, and swim in the sun.... all before breakfast. I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a quiet holiday in a rural area, especially families and those looking for good value for their money.…
A small camp site, 10 km outside UMAG, with a very busy camp road with non stop people and car traffic during the day. Loads of non-naturist promenading unchallenged. Sanitary blocks need maintenance. Thumping disco music from across the bay starting noon till sunrise the next day. 'Tavern Natura' we can recommend for service, food and price.
Apartments are in quite good locality, maybe 300 meters from sea, some also closer, near is also small grocery. Once ants snuck in our apartment, but I think hotel managment cant do anything with it. Like I already sad it was okay and mainly cheap.
