The Villas are built in a rich colourful stone that emphasizes on the more modern Cretan architecture of today. The villas offer sun flooded areas with shades of different colours during the day periods that leaves a lasting impression from every angle of the Villas. These embody the perfect example for architectural delight and study on Crete's today's civilization. The Villas are designed with high ceilings, spacious rooms and large patio windows. The wooden structure, the marble and glass features and metal fixtures blend materialistically entwined into its stone characters offering a high aesthetic result in design. High quality indoor and outdoor furnishings designed specifically for the villas complete its comfortable environment for sheer relaxation. The famous architects Aristomenes and George Baroudakis managed perfectly to capture, artful design, comfort and sheer quality at its fingertips for every welcoming guest that visits. Impressive high stone walls very thick at the bottom and thinner at the top create a castle like building perfectly harmonized with contemporary design from inside. Each Villa has its own private overflow swimming pool that can be entered by its yacht style wooden deck that is extended alongside side each of the pools. The pools are made of Diamond Brilliance finishes with quartz aggregates that give a ray of stunning rainbow like colours (iridescences) during different periods of the day. The surrounding garden areas are something to definitely highlight on, as the owners managed to maintain the original fruitful orange and olive trees in their original place during the Villas construction and add flowers and bushy plants. The fruitful orange trees burst with zest and aromas of natural essence that linger in their lush gardens and emphasize on the uniquely built quality of these three individual and private Villas. Oranges are ready to be picked up by guest during the spring and summer periods to taste the best Cretan juices.

Our family of 4 had the pleasure of staying in the spectacular Conte Marino Villas in May and it exceeded all of our expectations. It is an architectural gem very thoughtfully designed by engineers, owners, and hosts, Despina and Nikos, along with 2 famous architects. The interior design was impeccable and we loved the use of Cretan materials and the gorgeous windows with natural light flowing into every room. We were warmly greeted with a basket full of Cretan delicacies by Despina and Nikos after arriving late due a delayed ferry. Despina even ordered food for us to be delivered to the villa as we were starving. They gave us a wonderful tour upon arrival while we awaited our dinner. The primary suite incorporates the entire upstairs and is a delight. The oversized jacuzzi tub was a favorite spot to relax after long days of sightseeing. Our adult son and daughter each had their own bedrooms on the main level and an oversized marble bathroom which they greatly appreciated. The exterior is magnificent with olive trees, beautiful foliage, and orange trees ripe for the picking. There is a shared outdoor kitchen as well which is huge and very well equipped but we did not make use of it during our stay. The pool is beautiful and there is plenty of space outside for sunbathing, dining, and relaxing in a comfortable sitting area. Each morning started with fresh squeezed orange juice and delicious pastries from local patisseries. We rented a car and drove all over Crete. The villa is in a great location to visit the charming city of Chania and Rethymno was another favorite town. The drive through Topolia Gorge to Elafonisi beach was amazing and we also loved Falassarna beach which was less crowded. A trip to the nearby Lake Kournas is also a must. We rented a paddle boat and enjoyed several hours on the beautiful lake taking in the surrounding nature. Be sure to take a swimsuit and towel because you will want to take a swim! We will miss sunset dinners at the port in Chania and our most attentive hosts. Despina is a very gracious host who left no detail out in the design of this magical villa and she is most helpful with planning outings throughout your stay. She even surprised my adult kids with a cheesecake complete with numerical candles to celebrate their birthdays during our stay. We were honored and grateful to stay in such a warm and inviting villa which was like a home away from home. It is by far the most fabulous place we have ever rented and we travel all over the world. We would love to visit again one day!

We stayed in Villa Oragio, one of three exceptionally high standard, quality, stylish but welcoming villas within the intimate Conte Marino complex. It was simply superb. The villa itself has everything you need and more. The outside space is equally impressive, lovely seating area, great pool all set in a landscaped garden filled with orange and lemon trees.
Despina who owns the complex with her husband, also manages the complex and hospitality, supported by an on site team where nothing is too much trouble so that guests have a fantastic experience and stay. My children and I arranged to have breakfast each morning in the communal breakfast area, and again the quality and effort that was made was exceptional.
Despina was always contactable to offer guidance and support when needed. She is also a caring and lovely person. She signposted us to local taxis, personal trainers and good places to eat.
The villas are less than a 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, beach front and afew places to eat. If you walk for 10 minutes more there are more tavernas and supermarkets. Platanias, the nearest town is a 1 hr steady walk or 12 minutes in a taxi but completely doable walking. The traditional old town of Chania is also worth a visit.
We would definitely return for a family holiday, a truly outstanding place to stay.

What a fantastic villa! You start your day with a delicious breakfast cooked by the private chef in the kitchen and eating area right behind the villas. Every day had new menu items and eggs with an amazing taste. The villa was stocked with all amenities, including a washer/dryer, thoughtful treats basket, fully stocked kitchen for cooking, organic bathroom shampoo, etc and large pool towels. My favorite daily activities included picking oranges from the garden trees and making fresh-squeezed orange juice and also relaxing in the pool. The beach is a short drive away and quiet and beautiful. Cleaners come every few days and keep the villa immaculate. It was a dream holiday.

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Mandarina (4 nights)! When you walk through the front door the villa welcomes you with this spectacular combination of warmth and modern architecture and all you can say is "wow". This style and sense of cosyness and luxury is reflected throughout, just a tiny bit less in the bedrooms on the ground floor. The outdoors space is great and we often found ourselves in the dilemma of going to visit Chania or just enjoying this beautiful space. The house was also fully equipped with high end silverware, glassware and crockery. I had my 8 months son with me and he also had a cute set of plates, lounge chair and a high chair that matched the gorgeous wooden dining table. My only regret? Not trying the breakfast!
Last but not least, Despina is kind, welcoming and warm making the stay memorable. I will definitely be back!

Despina is a wonderful and welcoming host who reached out to us immediately once the booking was made. She met us on arrival at the villa to give us a tour, also leaving a prepared welcome hamper which is just what we needed after our travel there. The villa itself is stunning, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, with the pool and garden area being particularly beautiful. We stayed for 10 days (family of 3) in Villa Orangina, and as we stayed in April, we opted to have pool heating (which is an extra charge). We enjoyed the privacy of the villa and the surrounding area which is very peaceful and quiet. There are speakers in the sitting area outside which was lovely when spending time outside or in the pool. In the mornings, we had oranges from the garden for juice (juicing machine in kitchen) and there are also kumquat trees where you can eat the fruit directly from the tree itself. We had a car which made it easy for us to visit Falasarna beach, Platanias and several visits to the old harbour in Chania. We had a wonderful time .......we'll definitely be coming back.

We occupied all 3 villas for a week. Beautiful place near Chania. Houses were very well stocked and the fresh oranges and herb garden made it really special. It is important to ensure you have a car to be able to get places since they are 10-15 minute drive from that closest town. They do have washer/drying machines but they are very different to the ones in US so please read the instruction manuals.
The breakfast is absolutely amazing and everything is so fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed our time and Despina was very responsive to all our needs and very attentive.

We rented Villa Mandarina. The owners, Despina and her husband, were very hospitable and service-minded. That started from the moment we booked (January 2024) and even after we left (we forget to take a pair of shoes at check-out, and she was so kind to send these to the other side of the island where we spent the next week)! She also provided us with tips for restaurants, trips and contact details for a taxi. If you plan to visit Gramvoussa Island and the Balos lagoon, do this as early as possible, to avoid the crowds. Private cruise is recommended (contact provided by the owner). The quality of the villa and it's interior is very high. There is nothing to be missed. We picked every day oranges from the garden to prepare fresh orange juice for breakfast. You defintely need a car (or other transport), since it is located some km's from the coast and Platanias. Chania is nice to visit, but very crowded. Try to book a table on the rooftop of the Pallas restaurant (early reservation needed).

Villa Conte Marino is a fabulous getaway. We were in Villa Mandarina - the middle villa - and our stay was exceptional. The quality of the finishes, thoughtful details and amenities made for an unforgettable stay. From morning breakfast to afternoon cocktails we couldn’t have asked for a better place. Our mornings began with a private chef serving a delicious breakfast and catering to all sorts of food restrictions (gluten free and dairy free) - the food was so good. The freshly squeezed orange juice, straight from the trees on the property, was incredible. The chefs really were terrific! The villas are beautifully designed with high end finishes, well stocked and very comfortable. Every amenity is thought through, allowing one to relax and feel pampered. Unwinding poolside every day was icing on the cake. We had a rental car and drove to Chania, Elafonisi Beach (an INCREDIBLE drive winding around a mountain), and Rethymno. We would definitely recommend Villa Conte Marino.

This is our third year in a row staying at Conte Marino Villas. We are a family of 5 and absolutely love this place. As the title of this review suggests, these are more than ‘just’ Villas. They have all the amenities of home (ultra fast Broadband, 4K Smart TV, Bose sound system, modern kitchen) with a high-end Villa design (modern architecture, lovely pool, quality furniture, plenty of A/C). The pool is a particular plus, especially for kids as there’s plenty of shallow end and the deep end isn’t too deep. There’s also a lovely garden with Orange trees to pick from. Beyond this, there are three things that keep us coming back: the amazing breakfast that is served each morning, the staff (incl. private chef) that work tirelessly, and Despina, the owner, who’s attention to detail, customer service, and genuine desire to make your stay as memorable as possible is second-to-none.
The area is also great, as it’s close to the beach and local town (Platanias), but still feels secluded and quiet. It’s also within striking distance of places like Falasarna Beach, Kolymbari and, of course, Chania, the airport of which is only a 35 minute drive.
We used to go to hotels, but Conte Marino Villas is better. We’ve stayed at other villas before, but Conte Marino Villas is better. For anyone considering a holiday in Crete, you should seriously consider coming here. We’ll be back again, for sure.

I loved my long stay mid October, perfectly timed for beautiful beaches, incredible hiking, exploration of historic sites…all easily found close to this immaculate, light filled, architectural work of luxury design. Fully equipped kitchen, marble baths, luxurious bedding, stunning pool garden with flowers and outdoor furniture. I highly recommend! The warm hospitality of the hosts is stellar! I will be back to this villa to enjoy more of magical Crete!
